He certainly loves the Romance, so surely his lovely and talented Wife Anna Paquin had something awesome planned for his Birthday this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, taking a small break from filming. True Blood star Stephen Moyer flew in from Los Angeles to Toronto this evening to continue filming Director Darren Lynn Bousman's (Saw II - IV) latest Horror, The Barrens. 

Production has been taking place mostly outside the City in Rockwood, as it centers around a Family visiting a Campground, encountering what they believe to be the legendary Jersey Devil. Filming wraps in about two weeks' time.

Surprisingly, Moyer was a bit self-conscious about his hair, stating "I look terrible!", but the only thing terrible about the handsome Brit was that he was terribly kind, agreeing to take Photos and sign a few Autographs ...including one which will go to a lucky Reader! Wouldn't you agree he looks pretty damn good after a five-hour flight and a weekend of celebrating?

"SAW" CREATORS JAMES WAN & LEIGH WHANNELL IN TORONTO FOR "INSIDIOUS" | SIGNED PHOTO GIVEAWAY

Creators of  the wildly successful Saw Franchise, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, flew in from Vancouver today to do the last leg of their Promotional Tour in Toronto. The Duo are here to promote their new Horror, Insidious, which won raves last September at TIFF.  It subsequently was picked-up by Sony Pictures in the U.S. and Alliance Films in Canada.  Wan directs, while Whannell acts in and writes the Film.

Although made for a pittance of $1 million, Insidious is by no means short on the screams, showcasing a less gory brand of Horror than what we have seen from the two in the past.  Its story follows a Couple  Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai (Rose Byrne) who move into a new home with their three Children, only to be terrorized by supernatural forces soon after.  Their Son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) then falls into a Coma and they realize for their own safety that they must leave. They soon realize the problem doesn't so much lie in their House, so much as their Son, Dalton.

Wan tells the audience at tonight's Toronto Premiere of Insidious that this project could be considered more of a "passion job".  It is a film which both he and Whannell have been wanting to make for quite some time, allowing them to go back to their original Film School roots -where the two had met first in their native Australia.  Since getting picked up for distribution last Fall, some additional fine tuning was done to Insidious, focusing primarily on establishing moods via longer frames of dimly-lit hallways, for example.  He explains that elements in the Original Cut of Insidious have been removed, reducing among other things, the number of Jump Scares (abrupt moments of shock) in this Theatrical Version.

Whannell admits that when it comes to Horror Films, he is most annoyed by False Scares (moments which elude to danger but not fulfilled). He notes, "Often we'll see a a shot in a car where a lot of room is left in the frame. Just when you expect a Killer to show up, it winds up being someone's Sister. I hate that!".  He then jokingly suggests, "They might as well smash the window and slash their heads off instead!".

"MEGAMIND" OUTSMARTS COMPETITION AT BOX OFFICE

Paramount's animated Feature Megamind is on target to top this weekend's Box Office with $44.5 million based on Friday night's numbers, totaling $12.5 million from 3,944 theatres. It won't be a cakewalk though for the film which features the voices of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Brat Pitt, Ben Stiller and many more. 

Warner Bros.' Due Date proves once again that Robert Downey Jr. is a highly bankable star with the Comedy, having brought in $12.2 million from 3,355 theatres; it is expected to make $34.3 million this weekend. Consider this though - although numbers appeared tight on Friday, family audiences head out to the theatres on Saturdays and Sundays. With this being the case, expect Megamind's lead to widen with Sunday's final numbers being published.

Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls like many other of his films is also a Box Office success, taking in $7.4 million on Friday night, which on any other weekend would be good enough to make it number one. The heavy Drama will in all likelihood land in third in its opening weekend with $21 million.

Saw 3-D as expected, slipped dramatically after opening on-top last weekend for Lionsgate Films. The Horror took in $2.6 million Friday night and will likely make just shy of $9 million in total this weekend.

Also of interest is Danny Boyle's latest film 127 Hours starring James Franco as a man who amputates his own arm in the name of survival, opening in only four theatres. The film averaged $19,250 per theatre which is exceptional. Summit Entertainment's Fair Game starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn and opening also in limited release, averaged $3,913 per theatre by comparison from 46 theatres.  Review to come tomorrow.

"SAW VII 3-D" THRILLS THE BOX OFFICE

It's almost becoming too easy with its annual Halloween release, but Lionsgate's Saw VII 3-D, yes part VII, not only contains a lot of killing, but made a killing also.  The Horror flick took in an estimated $24.5 million from 2,808 screens this weekend. It is said that this will be the final installment in the series. We'll see about that.

Slipping to second is last weekend's Champion Paranormal Activity 2, which took in approximately $17 million. In two weeks, the sequel has made $66.5 million for one of the most profitable franchises in history for Paramount.

Surprisingly, Red is hanging tough still in third with $10.7 million. The film is still showing at 3,349 theatres, impressive considering it has actually been on illegal downloading sites for a couple weeks already.  Now who said studios were suffering from downloading?

Jackass 3-D although losing a bit of its edge with moviegoers, is still doing well in fourth spot with $8.5 million in its third week, putting it just past the $100 million mark domestically.

The Town in its seventh week is still in the Top Ten amazingly with $2 million earned this weekend and a total $87.6 million in its run so far. Congratulations, Ben Affleck!

Mr. Will-W.:Pop Maven favourite Conviction got its wide release finally this weekend in a paltry 565 theatres, earning $1.9 million in tenth spot. Despite some great reviews and tons of promotion, this one inexplicably still isn't connecting with moviegoers. Why?
