"JOYFUL NOISE" IN THEATRES JANUARY 13, 2012

Still from Joyful Noise
I don't believe this one has avoided my Radar this long til finally I saw its Trailer tonight.  Think Sister Act minus Nuns, much more sass, Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah!  The sound of this either turns you off completely or like me, it's right up your alley.  Joyful Noise is about a Choir in which two of its more opinionated Singers butt heads over its musical direction after advancing into a national competition.

TONY BENNETT TO RELEASE "DUETS II" FEATURING AMY WINEHOUSE, LADY GAGA, MARIAH CAREY & MORE

Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga
With 100 Albums released, 15 Grammy Awards including the coveted Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, legendary Crooner Tony Bennett is showing no signs of stopping. In fact, Bennett turns 85 years-old today and to celebrate this important milestone, he releases Duets II, a follow-up to 2006's Duets which was his best-selling Album ever.

What you need to know is the roster of talent he gathered for this Disc including several of my favourites. Lady Gaga. Mariah Carey. Aretha Franklin. Sheryl Crow. Andrea Bocelli. Josh Groban. Michael Bublé. John Mayer. Queen Latifah. AMY WINEHOUSE. Yes, you read correctly. The Disc features one of Winehouse's final recordings before her untimely passing.

Duets II is in stores September 20, 2011 via Sony Music Canada and the complete Track List is as follows:

THE 37TH ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher
Only at the People's Choice Awards would these results ever fly! The Twilight Saga: Eclipse won top honours tonight at the 37th annual People's Choice Awards winning awards for Favourite Movie and Favourite Drama Movie. Among other Winners this evening were Katy Perry for Favourite Internet Sensation and Female Artist, Taylor Swift for Favourite Country Artist, Rihanna for Favourite Pop Artist and Glee for Favourite TV Comedy.

Click here to read a full list of Winners.

Other than Host Queen Latifah always being wonderful, the highlight of the show came late with a visibly pregnant Natalie Portman and her No Strings Attached co-star Ashton Kutcher, stepping-out to present the award for Favourite Movie to the principal cast members of Eclipse, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson. Portman looked radiant, although a bit like a fish out of water from the overwhelming fanfare.

And seriously, what was Kutcher thinking wearing an ensemble more suited for doing Groceries: a Pea Coat, Jeans and T-Shirt?  If this is any indication of their on-screen chemistry in upcoming Sex Comedy No Strings Attached, I think I'll just have to skip it.

QUEEN LATIFAH HOSTS P&G BEAUTY & GROOMING AWARDS 2010 IN TORONTO (PICS & VIDEO)

Queen Latifah & Mr. Will-W.
All hail The Queen!  The Queen Latifah flew in from Los Angeles earlier today to host the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards 2010, honouring outstanding Editorial and Creative talent in Canada.  The event held at The Carlu, brought together the who's who of Beauty, Fashion, Art and Design together with a panel of Experts choosing 13 winners in total.

Playing host to an enthusiastic crowd, the Grammy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner was oh-so-radiant, never without a smile and certainly without a lull.  Being the Face of CoverGirl Makeup, she admitted that her look could never be achieved without a team of Professionals and this evening was a tribute to those who dedicate themselves to the Art of Beauty.

Presenters tonight included handsome Photographer Glen Baxter of Fashion Television, who couldn't help but be a little smitten with Queen Latifah, telling her "It's such an honour to share the stage with you tonight".  Chatting with effervescent Television Personality/Singer Jully Black earlier in the evening, she too expressed nothing but excitement at meeting Queen Latifah earlier in the day during a run-through of the Show.  Canadian Fashion Designer Shawn Hewson told me, "Queen Latifah is Queen Latifah.  She's just got this wall of greatness surrounding her."

Black, who was a Presenter tonight, brought the house down with her self-admittedly poor French, pronouncing the names of nominees and eventual winner of the Best Beauty of Fashion Blog (French) award with a knowing wink.  Even Queen Latifah had to ask the audience jokingly after, "Are you sure you still need me here?".

REVIEW: VALENTINE'S DAY

When you have a film with a star-studded cast, the results can be well, fabulous like in Love Actually or He's Just Not That Into You.  They can also be disappointing like in Garry Marshall's Valentine's Day.   Marshall despite being quiet of late, has brought us some of the greatest films of our time like Pretty Woman and Beaches.  On paper, the cast almost looks too good to be true: Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Garner, Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Patrick Dempsey, Eric Dane, Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace, Queen Latifah, Jessica Biel, Jamie Foxx, Shirley MacLaine, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates and many, many more.

The film houses multiple story lines which run in tandem one Valentine's Day in Los Angeles.  The film's primary story line revolves around florist and all-around nice guy Reed (Ashton Kutcher), who proposes to his girlfriend Morley (Jessica Alba).  Upon announcing this news to his friends who all seem surprised that she said "yes", we get the back story that their relationship might be rockier than it seems.  Reed is best friends with school teacher Julia (Jennifer Garner) and she is involved with Harrison (Patrick Dempsey), a married doctor.  She doesn't know about his marriage though until Harrison buys flowers from Reed's shop for both his wife and mistress Julia.  Perhaps there might be an undertone of romance between Reed and Julia, an option neither has explored.

Liz (Anne Hathaway) works odd jobs including a temp job at a Public Relations agency where she reports to Paula (Queen Latifah).  Liz is dating Jason (Topher Grace), but he has no idea that she is working a side job as a sex chat line worker.  Hathaway steps outside her comfort zone, completely embarrassing herself in her scenes with awkward sex dialogue - she even does a hilariously spot-on Russian accent in one of them.  Although she is brilliant as usual, I'm sure she'll be regretting this role at some point down the line.
