"BRAVE" DEBUTS COURAGEOUSLY AT BOX OFFICE

Fantastic showing by Pixar/Disney’s Scotland-set Animated Feature, Brave, opening this weekend with $66.7 million from 4,164 theatres. The $185-million budget Production, voiced by the likes of Up-and-Comer Kelly MacDonald, Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson opened impressively Friday with $24.5 million and Critics also are responding, with it garnering 74% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer.

Now in its third week of release, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted still is going strong for Paramount Pictures in second spot with $20.2 million.To-date, it has earned $157 million in North America.

20th Century Fox’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opened with big expectations, being produced for $69 million, but opens only with $16.5 million this weekend - good enough for third. Reviews have been mixed for the once promising Mash-up Historical Zombie Thriller, earning 38% on the Tomatometer. It lands ahead of another Film from the studio landing ahead of Prometheus  with $10 million, just breaking the $100 million mark on Friday domestically.

Rock of Ages finds itself in fifth spot this weekend with $8 million, looking as if it won’t recoup that $75 million budget that went into the Musical. Meanwhile, Snow White and The Huntsman is in sixth spot with $8 million also in its fourth week, for Universal Pictures.

The only other debut this weekend is Focus Features/eOne Films’ mixed-reviewed Seeking a Friend at the End of the World starring Kiera Knightley and Steve Carrell, rounding out the Top Ten with $3.8 million from 1,625 theatres.

"MADAGASCAR 3" ON-TOP A SECOND WEEK

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted steals the show again for a second straight week with $35 million earned this weekend. This brings its two-week tally to an excellent $120 million for Paramount Pictures, keeping Prometheus in second for a second straight week. The latter still is going strong, this weekend taking-in $21 million for a total of $89.6 million in its Run so far.

Warner Bros.' Rock of Ages debuts in third spot with $15 million, debuting below expectations for the $75-million Budget Musical. Regardless, I still loved it and will give everyone a Hug who goes and sees it!

Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg $70-million R-rated Comedy That's My Boy was timed perfectly for a Father's Day release for Sony Pictures however, Moviegoers didn't budge and it debuts in fourth spot with $13 million.

Snow White and The Huntsman finds itself in fifth this weekend with $13-million in its third week, now earning a total $121.6 million domestically. It has fared well Overseas also, earning $83 million in those parts.

Marvel's The Avengers is resilient still, in seventh spot in its seventh week with $8.3 million. To-date domestically is has earned $586 million, while Overseas it has made a resounding $824 million.

In its fourth week of being a Limited Release, Moonrise Kingdom earns $2.3 million for Focus Features/eOne Films. The Wes Anderson Comedy has earned a stellar 95% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer.

What to Expect When You're Expecting earns $1.3 million this weekend in its fifth week, rounding out the Top Ten.

"MADAGASCAR 3" IS MOST WANTED AT BOX OFFICE

The Box Office is alive with not one but two huge Debuts this weekend. 20th Century Fox's Prometheus was caught in a heated battle with Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, but alas it was the the latter which prevailed with $59.6 million from 4,258 theatres for Paramount Pictures. Compared to its Predecessors, it earned just slightly less than 2008's Sequel in the Franchise, which had opened with $63 million.

Touted as a Prequel to Aliens, Prometheus directed by Sir Ridley Scott pulled-in a healthy $21.4 million on Friday alone based on the strength of Midnight Screenings.  It goes on to make $49.5 million this weekend from 3,396 theatres. Coincidentally, both Top Two Films earned approximately 75% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, equally well-received by Critics.

Last week's Champion Snow White & The Huntsman slips to number three this weekend in its second week of release with $23 million. To date, it already has made $98.5 domestically for Universal Pictures.

MIB 3 earns $15 million this weeekend in its third week of release, just ahead of the Monster known as Marvel's The Avengers with $12 million it its sixth week.

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel continues to impress also in its sixth week for Fox Searchlight, earning $3.1 million - good enough for sixth spot in only 1,298 theatres.

Dark Shadows rounds out the Top Ten with $1.5 million this weekend, earning $73.9 million in five weeks for Warner Bros. in North America.

FIRST TRAILER: "PROMETHEUS"

The first official Trailer for Sir Ridley Scott's Prometheus finally has surfaced after a series of three Teasers released over the past week. The Film, which has Scott doing Sci-fi for the first time since Blade Runner (1982) and Alien (1979), the latter for which this is a Prequel. Although there originally was talk of this filming partly at Toronto's newly-upgraded Pinewood Studios, alas that amounted only to a rumour as per the Studio itself.

After a team of Explorers work to trace the origins of Mankind, they wind-up getting involved in a fight for the survival Human Race. Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, Logan Marshall-Green, Idris Elba and Patrick Wilson all are a part of this great-looking Cast. 20th Century Fox releases on June 8, 2012.

Without giving much away, the minute-long Trailer is pulsating with a terrifying sense of Catastrophe.

MICHAEL FASSBENDER, CHARLIZE THERON AND NOOMI RAPACE MOVIE "PROMETHEUS" FILMING IN TORONTO

Sneaky sneaky. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Sir Ridley Scott has actually already begun Production for his latest Film Prometheus in Toronto based upon the mythological Story of a Man who stole fire from the god Zeus and as a result is punished by torture, making an Eagle eat his liver daily only for it to keep growing back. Plot details are under lock and key.  Did you know?  I didn't know.

The Film will star handsome Irish Actor Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, Hunger), Oscar-winning Charlize Theron and hotly-tipped Swedish Actress Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Filming is taking place at new-improved Pinewood Studios over the next three weeks, where the upcoming Total Recall Film starring Colin Farrell will also be done.

UPDATE: I have reached-out to Pinewood Studios in Toronto and they have confirmed that the above is in fact only a rumour.  A Studio Representative replied, "Yes, we saw that (The Hollywood Reporter's post). It’s completely false. We have no idea where they got that info from… But it certainly wasn’t us.".  So there you have it - sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Mavenati!
