TEENAGE PAPARAZZO REVIEW

Adrian Grenier plays an actor on HBO's Entourage who finds Fame, discovering the highs and lows of Celebrity alongside his group of childhood friends - his Entourage. Life often imitates Art as they say and Grenier turns the tables on Fame in his intriguing documentary Teenage Paparazzo.

While attending a party one night, the actor notices a young Paparazzo snapping multiple shots of him, then running away when Grenier confronts him. The boy's name is Austin Visschedyk, a then-13 year-old Paparazzo, seasoned far beyond his naive appearance. Visschedyk's claim to fame with Celebrities is the fact that he is young, disarming Celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Michelle Rodrigues and many, many more (who are interviewed in the film) in order to acquire the shots that fetch hundreds to thousands of dollars per photo.

Grenier becomes fixated of Visschedyk, following him as he chases Celebrities around Hollywood, sometimes at 3:00 AM on a school night. The boy is very good at what he does of course and what Grenier wants to understand is why the Paparazzi are so drawn to this chaotic life. While examining this, he is met with resistance from some of Visschedyk's Paparazzi friends and resentment from the boy himself as he delves deeper into that subculture.

ADRIAN GRENIER AT TEENAGE PAPARAZZO PREMIERE IN TORONTO

New York native Adrian Grenier is best known for his turn as Vincent Chase on HBO's hit series Entourage.  Many will remember him as Anne Hathaway's boyfriend in critically acclaimed The Devil Wears Prada.   Many of us don't know though that Grenier is also a Director and that his Teenage Paparazzo was very well-received at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The Documentary centers around the theme of Celebrity Obsession in youth, following the story of then-13 year-old Paparazzo Austin Visschedyk, who has photographed everyone from Paris Hilton to Adam Sandler.  Grenier discovered Visschedyk trying to snap his photo and became fascinated by his story, then following him around at work.

Grenier unleashed his project at Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto tonight, preceded by Appetizers and Cocktails and followed by a Q&A session at $30 a head - not bad for a chance to meet and greet the star.  Sporting a fresh Coif, Grenier stood in the Foyer of the theatre after the show, as audience members lined-up for their Photo Ops.  I was spotted even by a couple Mr. Will-W.:Pop Maven readers just standing around (Hi, Chris and Dave!).

Teenage Paparazzo will released via Mongrel Media in Canada and opens on August 27, 2010.

Look this weekend for a review of the film here.  But in the meantime, check out these Candids I got of  Grenier, who really needed that Stella after a long day of Press:

TEENAGE PAPARAZZO - A SNAPSHOT OF CELEBRITY OBSESSION

After creating quite a splash on the Festival circuit, Entourage's Adrian Grenier is ready to unleash his documentary Teenage Paparazzo in theatres.  The film centers around a then-13 year-old boy named Austin Visschedyk, whom Grenier discovered trying to snap his photo once.  Fascinated by his story, Grenier decided to make a Documentary about him and through a wider lens, a study on the fixation of Celebrity and Fame in youth.   Visschedyk has taken and sold photos of the likes of Paris Hilton, Audrina Partridge, Lindsay Lohan, Adam Sandler and many more.

Teenage Paparazzo will be distributed in Canada though Mongrel Media and is actually one I've been keeping my eye on for a while.  Visit its Canadian website hereGrenier will be visiting Toronto late August to promote the film, which opens August 27, 2010 in Toronto and Vancouver.
