BILLBOARD & NIELSEN REVEAL TOP-SELLING ALBUMS AND ARTISTS OF 2011

Adele in Toronto - March 2011
CNN reveals a bit of interesting news on Digital Music Sales versus Physical Music Sales based on a Billboard/Nielsen Report conducted recently.  For the first time ever, Digital Music is outselling actual Physical Music, with the former increasing 8.4% from the previous year and the latter declining 5%.  In fact, Digital Music accounts for 50.3% of all Music sold in the U.S.

Adele came out on-top in 2011 accounting for Best Selling Artist, Album and Digital Song by a landslide, besting Lady Gaga and Canada's own Michael Bublé who ranked in second despite his Album being released only in November.  Katy Perry however, beat Adele as Best Selling Digital Artist with 15.1 million units sold.

For those curious, these are your Top Ten Selling Albums of 2011:

LIL WAYNE SELLS 960K COPIES OF "THA CARTER IV" IN DEBUT

Lil Wayne & Mr. Will-W. - Toronto,  August 2011
A huge congratulations goes out to Lil Wayne who sold 964k copies of his new Disc, Tha Carter IV making for a number one debut atop the U.S. Billboard Hot 200 Album Chart - the second biggest-selling week in 2011 for a Disc.  Lady Gaga holds the distinction of having the biggest sales week for a Disc this year with Born this Way pushing 1.1. million it its debut back in May.  A significant number of those sales came through Amazon where it was priced at a paltry $0.99.  Lil Wayne - doin' it right.

In 2008, his Tha Carter III debuted with just over a million copies sold.  Well done once again, Weezy!

Let's watch the poignant Video for his Autotuney new Single How to Love below:

DRAKE SPOTTED AT HAZELTON HOTEL

Yup, that's Hip-Hop Star Drake arriving at Hazelton Hotel for a Business Meeting this evening with his three-vehicle Entourage. Just listen to the reactions from those female Fans! Unfortunately he didn't have time to greet them this time, but he still spared a moment of acknowledgment before he headed in!

This isn't the first time Drake has paid a visit to the Hotel as he is a huge Fan of the amazing ONE Restaurant, also situated on premises.  In fact, I spotted him there back in July when he was nice enough to pose for a quick Photo.

Drake just flew back into Toronto after a weekend spent celebrating the MTV VMAs where he performed alongside his Mentor Lil Wayne on Sunday.

CORY GUNZ, MACK MAINE & LIL WAYNE IN TORONTO FOR "I AM STILL MUSIC" TOUR

Lil Wayne in Toronto - August 2011
14-time Grammy nominee Lil Wayne graced the City with his presence today for the Toronto stop-off of his I Am Still Music Tour. The Rapper was just in Montreal on Wednesday night, arriving in Toronto overnight. With his eighth studio Disc Tha Carter IV due in stores on August 29, 2011, it would appear that he has a big comeback Hit on his hands as latest single How to Love already as at number five on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Tagging along for the Tour are Artists from his Record Label Young Money Entertainment, Mack Maine and Cory Gunz who are to perform alongside Lil Wayne this evening with other acts like Far East Movement and Keri Hilson. Maine and Gunz were amazingly nice to stop and pose for Photos with Fans before heading off in their Tour Bus.

And while Lil Wayne was last to leave (after 7:30 PM) for his self-headlining show at Molson Amphitheatre this evening, his Handler made matters a little trickier for Fans - some who waited all day to see their Idol. He still obliged however and stopped for a couple Photos though telling Fans "Snap me!", before he was rushed off to his Tour Bus.

FAR EAST MOVEMENT IN TORONTO FOR LIL WAYNE'S "I AM STILL MUSIC" TOUR

Far East Movement & Mr. Will-W.
Toronto certainly has mad love for Far East Movement and for the fourth time this year already the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart-topping Act has returned to the City.  In-town to support Lil Wayne on his I Am Still Music Tour which hits Molson Amphitheatre tomorrow night, the Boys actually arrived in the City earlier this week, heading off to Montreal and then back again  here for an appearance on MuchMusic's New.Music.Live today where the Girls went crazy.  One  lucky Fan even walked away with a Skinny Tie from the Electro Hop Outfit!

The Boys of Far East Movement are absolute Gentlemen and I had the pleasure of meeting members Kev Nish, J-Splif and Prohgress before, but today was my first time meeting DJ Virman, as they head out of their appearance at MuchMusic Kev Nish who recognized me, came over and told me "Hey! I've got something for you!" and then brought over a stack of Mixtape CDs and being as amazing as they are, they each took turns signing them.

Perusing the Track List, I was excited to see some amazing tunes on the Disc including Give Me Everything (Pitfull ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer), Lighters (Bad Meets Evil ft. Bruno Mars), Party Rock Anthem (LMFAO), plus a selection of tracks taken off Far East Movement's amazing debut Disc, Free Wired - including latest Single, So What?

VIDEO PREMIERE: JENNIFER LOPEZ - I'M INTO YOU (FT. LIL WAYNE)

Still from I'm Into You
And suddenly we're transported back in time ten years ago when it was all about J-Lo. Check out this stunning Video for Lopez's second Single off of solid comeback Disc Love?  (read my Review here).

I'm Into You ft. Lil Wayne is directed by Melina Matsoukas who has helmed many a memorable Clip like Kylie Minogue's Wow and Ne-Yo's Because of You. Watch Lopez saunter about in front of the Mayan Pyramids and Ruins of Chichen-itza in Mexico, getting sultry with a smouldering Model William Levy.

DRAKE AT 2011 JUNO AWARDS

Drake at the 2011 Juno Awards
Toronto's v. own Drake made his City proud tonight, playing Host to the 2011 Juno Awards (the 40th edition of the ceremonies).  Working every muscle of his talent from Comedic Chops to Singing to Rapping, the 24 year-old easily won the audience over.

A pre-recorded Video Clip showed him Skyping his Buddy Justin Bieber, who is currently busy touring in Eurpoe, and doing a Duet to Sarah McLachlan's I Will Remember You together.  He also jokingly serenaded Shania Twain, telling her how he'd like to "make her feel like a Woman".  Nervy, considering her new Husband Frederic Thiebaud was right beside her!

The evening's biggest highlight was his parody called Old Money, poking fun at Lil Wayne's Record Label (which he is signed to), Young Money.  And get this, my Godmother Angela starred in the Skit too as a Champagne-drinkin' Granny!  Way to Godmother!  Yay! Watch the Clip in full here at CTV.

Earlier in the evening, Drake zipped right through the Red Carpet after signing a few Autographs, much to the disappointment of shivering Fans hoping to get a Photo with him.

See some more snaps I got of him below:
