DICK CLARK PASSES AWAY AT AGE 82

Dick Clark
Before Ryan Seacrest there was Dick Clark. Before Dick Clark, there was no Dick Clark. Farewell to a Legend. I fondly recall spending weekends as a Toddler watching American Bandstand on weekends and I don't believe all this time has passed since those days. Even more, I don't believe that TV Producer, Host and Icon Clark had passed away this morning at age 82, suffering a Heart Attack just one day after undergoing an Outpatient Procedure at Saint John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California.

Celebrities have been vocal in their condolences for Clark and his Family including Seacrest, who widely is acknowledged as Clark's modern day Successor, now hosting Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. Seacrest Tweeted earlier, "I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life."

Janet Jackson also says, "Dick Clark changed the face of musical television. He was wonderful to many artists including our family. We will miss him. God bless.". Joan Rivers, who was just in Toronto this past weekend doing an appearance on The Shopping Channel Tweeted "Very sad to hear about Dick Clark. What a great life. What a great career. Relevant until the end. He will be missed!".Meanwhile, Anderson Cooper's Tweeted, "What a career Dick Clark had! What a life! My thoughts are with his family and friends.".

Madonna took to Facebook to make a rare statement stating succinctly, "Rest in peace. You will be missed", also posting a Video of her appearing on American Bandstand earlier in her Career.

JULIANNE MOORE CHARMED BY A BEAVER ON "ANDERSON"

Julianne Moore on Anderson
I have never seen anything more life-completing than this! Julianne Moore appeared on Anderson today, to promote HBO's Game Change, which sees her playing Sarah Palin in her rise to national fame during the 2008 Presidential Campaign. Moore reveals that she studied Palin's speeches religiously by listening to them on her iPod and that she was concerned most about authenticity, asking repeatedly "Did anybody actually see that?" when she had her doubts.

Realizing Moore's fascination with Beavers, Cooper arranged for one to be brought out for the Oscar-nominated Actress in what was a heartwarming moment, seeing that they are her favourite animal.  He also made a donation on behalf of Cooper to the World Wildlife Fund on behalf of Moore, which brought a big smile to her face.

Game Change premieres on HBO Canada Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 9:00 PM EST.  Watch a Featurette and some Trailers here.

ANDERSON COOPER PAYS HOMAGE TO PHIL DONAHUE ON "ANDERSON"

Phil Donahue & Anderson Cooper
Admittedly I'm still on-the-fence about Anderson Cooper's Daytime Talk Show.  Now don't get me wrong, I love him and think he was fantastic on CNN, but this transition into Guy-Next-Door territory with Anderson has been ...awkward.  And that's mostyle because he is an awkward Guy and proud to announce it on National Television.  He makes no qualms about going-on about his odd eating habits - he eats McDonald's more than anything and in his word, "Vegetables are pointless".  He also has a fear of spiders and heights; he even believes that his House may be haunted.  And based on that alone he's built the foundation for the themes of some of his topics thus far.

Today, adorable Anderson dressed-up as his Idol - famed Talk Show Host Phil Donahue - whom he credits as one of the founding Fathers of Daytime Television.  Low-and-behold, Donahue showed-up on the Halloween-themed Episode, giving his wife Actress Marlo Thomas a plug for her new Broadway Play Relatively Speaking.  He joked how he gets trampled nowadays by Fans who race past him to get to his Wife.  "Oh, we love you too Merv!", he is told often by his Wife's Fans, drawing laughter from the Audience.

ANDERSON COOPER HAS A LAUGHING FIT ON LIVE TELEVISION

Anderson Cooper - August 17, 2011
On, Anderson! Nobody has made embarrassment look more adorable. Anderson Cooper in a rare occurrence, lost his composure on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360° last night during his The Ridiculist segment. Full of hilarious puns, Cooper reported an incident surrounding Oscar-nominated French Actor Gerard Depardieu's Public Urination scandal aboard a Cityjet flight.

Finally when he got to the line on the Teleprompter which read, "All I can say, they should thank their lucky stars it wasn't Depar-two", Cooper lost control in a hilarious outburst of giggles, apologizing profusely.

Sometimes the best promotion is free promotion and this will if anything do wonders in creating a buzz for his new Talk Show airing this Fall, Anderson!

ANDERSON COOPER AT CTV'S FALL 2011 UPFRONTS FOR "ANDERSON"

Anderson Cooper at CTV 2011 Fall Upfronts
I've just died and gone to Heaven. Or the next closest thing to it. Making a rare appearance in the City, Television Personality/Author/Journalist Anderson Cooper surprised just about all of us flying into Toronto to promote his upcoming new Talk Show, Anderson. Developed by Warner Bros. and Telepictures, the Program is expected to debut this Fall on CTV, as announced today at their Upfronts, held at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.  Fans of CNN's Anderson Cooper 360° need not fear as he will be hosting both Shows simultaneously.

Cooper, I can honestly say, is even more handsome in-person - an attentive Listener as I observed how Fans outside the venue told him personal accounts of how he has touched their lives.   And he cared genuinely.  With Oprah Winfrey having exited the Daytime Talk Show circuit recently, Cooper is being touted as "The Next Oprah" - big shoes which I have no doubt he will be able to fill. Definitely one of my prouder moments in Celebrity-meeting.

Although one would think that Cooper would opt to try some of the City's fancier Fare for Dinner, he actually dined on Drive-Thru from McDonald's tonight as per his Tweets. He most definitely was in a rush, as he was set to broadcast his Anderson Cooper 360° live from Toronto this evening from an unspecified location.
