DICK CLARK PASSES AWAY AT AGE 82

Dick Clark
Before Ryan Seacrest there was Dick Clark. Before Dick Clark, there was no Dick Clark. Farewell to a Legend. I fondly recall spending weekends as a Toddler watching American Bandstand on weekends and I don't believe all this time has passed since those days. Even more, I don't believe that TV Producer, Host and Icon Clark had passed away this morning at age 82, suffering a Heart Attack just one day after undergoing an Outpatient Procedure at Saint John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California.

Celebrities have been vocal in their condolences for Clark and his Family including Seacrest, who widely is acknowledged as Clark's modern day Successor, now hosting Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. Seacrest Tweeted earlier, "I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life."

Janet Jackson also says, "Dick Clark changed the face of musical television. He was wonderful to many artists including our family. We will miss him. God bless.". Joan Rivers, who was just in Toronto this past weekend doing an appearance on The Shopping Channel Tweeted "Very sad to hear about Dick Clark. What a great life. What a great career. Relevant until the end. He will be missed!".Meanwhile, Anderson Cooper's Tweeted, "What a career Dick Clark had! What a life! My thoughts are with his family and friends.".

Madonna took to Facebook to make a rare statement stating succinctly, "Rest in peace. You will be missed", also posting a Video of her appearing on American Bandstand earlier in her Career.

RIHANNA AND CIARA TAKE FEUD TO TWITTER

Ciara's Tweets to Rihanna
Yikes!  It looks like Pop Princesses Rihanna and Ciara might be feuding.  Both Singers have Tweeted each other some subtle jabs at one another this evening with Ciara threatening at approximately 11:15 PM EST, "Trust me Rihanna u don't want see me on or off stage".  Rihanna then Tweeted back, "My bad ci, did i 4get to tip u?  #howrudeofme", followed by "U gangsta huh?  Haaa" and an even harsher "Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of".  Ouch.

What's interesting is that the two were known at one point to be v. good Friends, attending Award Shows together even.  Neither follows the other on Twitter now, nor did they address their Tweets with the other's Twitter Handle denoted by the @ symbol, taking this feud to a public forum.

Rihanna's Tweets to Ciara
On February 8, 2011, Ciara Tweeted a v. telling statement which might give us some clues as to why the two might be sparring: "People really do reveal who they are over time. You dont even have to question them about there intentions, just watch how they move".  She then added, "& that was not a subliminal jab at anyone..just the disappointment in the people that say theyre your friends and that theyre there 4 U."

But watch this Fashion Police Clip from E! TV with Joan Rivers where Ciara reveals how much Rihanna has changed, slighting her recently at a Party.  It is said this Clip had hurt the Bajan Beauty deepest.

By 12:00 AM EST, the two had apologized and Ciara had proposed they both chat about this in-person.  "Rhi u know its always been love since day 1!", she clarified to Rihanna.

Well what did you expect Ci? Ri's a busy Girl now.  This isn't 2005 anymore!  Stop fighting and focus on making a hit, Girl!  Success is the strongest shield.  Ask Rihanna, she'd know.  Oh wait - you hate "love" each other.  Oops, sorry!  And besides that, people haven't been this interested in Ciara in quite some time.  Couldn't this be career rejuvenating?

JOAN RIVERS TALKS SPERM ON "THE VIEW"

Joan Rivers on The View
"In case you're watching your weight, a spoonful of Sperm, The New York Times reports, is equivalent to two Weight Watchers points.  Two points!", Joan Rivers tells a disgusted Barbara Walters on today's airing of The View.  And that's why I love her.

Rivers was on the show today promoting the DVD release of her outstanding Documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, due in stores December 14, 2010.  Apparently she was just in Toronto last week hawking her line of Jewelry at the Home Shopping Network.

JOAN RIVERS: A PIECE OF WORK REVIEW

Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work is one of the biggest surprises of the year. The Documentary so perfectly hits it on-the-head that even the ultimate Perfectionist in which it centers upon herself would approve lovingly. Many of us known Rivers as a Comedienne. Cruel, plastic, brash, mean, infuriating, funny. Anyone watching this film from by Ricki Stern and Anne Sundberg will get an eye-opener of a look at Rivers' storied rise to fame, wondering why it is that at age 75 she still works as hard as she still does.

I mean, yes we all love Betty White right? Joan Rivers too has been hard at work for many years and still relevant. Many of us fail to acknowledge Rivers for her contributions to women in Comedy.  In seeing clips of her earlier work where she attacked subject matter deemed controversial in her day, like Abortion and Pregnancy on stage as part of her Routines, do we see that influence she has had on the face of Comedy. It is safe to say that there would be no Sarah Silverman or Kathy Griffin today if it weren't for Rivers. Griffin even acknowledges this on camera.

To this day, Rivers still says "yes" to gigs at dive clubs, hawks Jewellery on QVC and is willing to sit through the humiliating experience of being insulted by younger fellow comedians on The Comedy Network's The Comedy Roast. The Bitch is tough as nails and knows that in order to continue living her lifestyle (compared to that of The Queen by her Manager Billy Sammeth), everything comes at a cost. She's relentlessly looking to fill her Itinerary and takes offense to being credited as having "paved" the way for women in Comedy. She clarifies that she is still working and "paving" the way for them.
