BOB BARKER IN TORONTO FIGHTING FOR ELEPHANTS

Bob Barker & Mr. Will-W.
So Wong it's Right! Legendary TV Personality and Animal Rights Activist Bob Barker flew into Toronto last night in a rare visit to these parts. The former Host of The Price is Right is here to raise awareness in his plea for the Metro Toronto Zoo's relocation of three Elephants: Toka, Thika and Iringa to a warmer sanctuary in the U.S.

Since 1984, a total seven elephants housed at the Zoo have died. Experts cite that Toronto might actually be too cold for these Elephants to survive and that the Zoo lacks sufficient space for them to roam.  Barker told the Toronto Star last night, "If necessary, I certainly will (donate cash). I think that there are organizations who are prepared to pay for that, but if they run short, yes, absolutely.".

A decision is to be made May 14, 2011 by the Zoo's Management Board regarding the fate of the three Elephants.

I caught Barker on his way out of an appearance on CityTV's Breakfast Television which vivacious Host Dina Pugliese in her own words, felt was her "best interview ever".  While at the studio, Barker taped a quick interview also for CityTV, before taking Photos-with and signing Autographs for Staff at the Station.

In a bit of a rush, Barker was whisked away by his Handler, but not before taking a few Photos with Fans. "We've only got time for a quick Photo and we've gotta go!", we were told.

Despite his 88 years of age, Barker still exudes loads of charm and energy - undoubtedly one of my more memorable and proud Celebrity experiences. Surely my Dad will be thrilled to see that I met him as many years of my Youth were spent with him watching Barker in the 11:00 AM time slot.  Priceless.
