ELTON JOHN, DAVID FURNISH & BABY ZACHARY IN TORONTO FOR "BILLY ELLIOT"

Elton John & David Furnish at Canon Theatre - March 2011
Elton John officially took over Toronto today as CTV rolled out the Red Carpet for the Pop Legend.  In-town with Partner David Furnish to promote their TONY Award-winning Musical Billy Elliot, now playing at Canon Theatre, the pair went on a Media Blitz today which included appearances on both CTV's The Marilyn Denis Show and eTalk.  This preceded Red Carpet Coverage at tonight's Opening with CP24, while appearances also are slated tomorrow morning at CHUM-FM and CTV's Canada AM.

Elton John leaving CTV
John and Furnish arrived in Toronto last night at their Yorkville Hotel with their Baby, Zachary.  Hotel staff could be seen clamouring to unload an endless array of Luggage from their Van, including a white baby Bassinet.  The Couple were spotted outside a Starbucks not far from CTV earlier this morning, sitting cozy in their SUV for half an hour before arriving finally at the venue.

John indicated today on The Marilyn Denis Show that close Friend Lady Gaga would be a great candidate to be his Child's Godmother and hinted that he may well be attending her The Monster Ball Show this Thursday at Air Canada Centre.

Gladys Furnish, Zachary & Nanny
With their busy schedule, the Couple have enlisted the help of their Nanny who was seen taking Zachary on a stroll in his Carriage throughout Yorkville along with Furnish's Parents Jack and Gladys.  A white Bunny could be seen dangling from Zachary's Stroller.  Furnish enjoyed a bit of personal time, shopping with a close Friend this afternoon while Daddy Elton rested at their Hotel in Nester mode.

Arriving on the Red Carpet at Canon Theatre this evening, several Fans waiting in the Cold were left disappointed with John failing to acknowledge them, as he proceeded to greet the Press Line.  One Fan Jason noted that John had "waved his hand, almost in anger, saying 'No' firmly" to a request for an Autograph.  Once a Diva, always a Diva.  Why are we surprised even?

Despite being v. low-key, perhaps maybe we might expect another John sighting in the City over the next couple days?  Or maybe not.  Special thanks to Stephen Fernandez for his wonderful Photo!

  1. Will,it's been 10 years since we met Elton & David, but they were both supremely gracious with Elton autographing not 1, but 3 different items.

Certainly he may be a diva from time-to-time, but I'll defend him on this point... :)
