Ellie Goulding at The Phoenix - Toronto, March 2011 |
Playing to a packed House, Fans wanted more clearly after the hour-long Set had ended. Goulding had performed a selection from Lights including Under the Sheets, Every Time You Go, The Writer and an encore which included my favourite, Starry Eyed. She even threw-in a minimalistic rendition of Elton John's Your Song, which kept the crowd under her control - not an easy feat for an Artist performing at this venue.
A multi-Instrumentalist, the Audience witnessed Goulding alternating between Drums, Guitar and Keyboards as she delivered a genuine performance with her stellar vocal range.
Her Opening Act The Knocks, a Duo based out of New York City, were ever so wonderful to award my Friend Michelle and myself Free Tickets to see the Show and needless to say, we had an amazing time. We even got to meet both The Knocks and Goulding, which was an absolute blast!
Absolutely lovely, she signed a 5x7 Photo (above) for my Readers and if you'd like to win it, please leave a Comment with the name of your favourite Ellie Goulding track and why. A winner will be picked May 10, 2011. All are welcome to enter - good luck, Mavenati!

I love Ellie's version of Your Song. Her sweet voice really captures the feeling of Elton's classic.
ReplyDeleteGuns and Horses
ReplyDeleteThe first time I heard her was the premier of the guns and horses video at the end of May of last year. I spent my whole childhood in England before moving back to Canada when I was 11 and last year was my first time back in almost 10 years, when I heard Guns and Horses it just stirred something up inside of me that no musician or performing artist has ever been able to do. Every time I hear the song, even after almost a year, it still does that special something that no other song can. When I saw she was playing in my hometown and that it was her first Canadian show I knew I had to go, and last night when she played Guns and Horses it was 10x better than I could have ever imagined. That’s why it’s my favorite song.
My favorite song by Ellie is definitely Starry Eyed! Its the first song I ever heard by her, and it just suits her voice so well! After hearing it, I instantly became a fan! She's an amazing singer and I'm glad she's getting recognition over in America & Canada. Im sad I wasnt able to go to the concert in Toronto, but Im glad to hear it was amazing!
