BELL CELEBRITY GALA 2010 PHOTOS & RECAP

Supermodel Coco Rocha
& Mr. Will-W.
Canada's leading Telecommunications Company Bell Canada threw yet another superb Celebrity Gala earlier this evening at Metro Convention Centre.  The annual Black Tie Affair unites Canadian Celebrities with fans, this year raising money for Toronto's CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health).  The event in previous years had raised money for Sick Kids' Hospital, although President & COO George Cope had announced earlier this year that he would direct more focus from Bell towards matters of Mental Health, citing that not enough focus is being paid to this issue.  Despite my not feeling so well, I still made it out to show my support for the cause although I'm sure I will pay for it this weekend!

Despite British-American actress Minnie Driver being touted as one of this evening's biggest names, alas she had other obligations and was unable to make it out.  The party still brought out a number of familiar faces whether it be Athletes, Actors, Musicians and Television Personalities.

Emcees this year included Sportscaster Rod Black and  Canada's favourite Comedian Russell PetersCBC's George Stroumboulopoulos also shared in the Hosting duties, doing on-the-spot interviews with some of the more notable guests in attendance like Supermodel Coco Rocha, Eric Roberts, Sofia Milos and many more.  Among this evening's performers were Jully Black, Faber Drive, Fefe Dobson, Kreesha Turner and hot Canadian act Down With Webster who delivered a spirited and well-received performance of Hall & Oates' hit Rich Girl.  Guests also were treated to a Fashion Show featuring work from local designers.

Mr. Will-W.:Pop Maven readers will be excited to know that our friend Dobson also signed a few items for you which I will be giving away next month with the release of her long-awaited album Joy.

Guests feasted on a deliciously tender portion of Filet Mignon and Chicken Breast, accompanied with Wild Rice, Squash and Beets.  Dessert was a sinfully delicious citrusy, Red Velvet-like Cake.

Based on Ticket Sales and Silent Auctions, this year's Celebrity Gala raised over $1.1 million for CAMH - a cause for celebration!  Congratulations, once again Bell.  You guys sure know how to throw a bash!

  1. How much are tickets to this event? Not much star power. What kind of items were up for auction and what kind of prices did they go for?

  2. Did you get a chance to hear my son Josh Logan perform? Did you enjoy his vocals.

  3. Hi Mark - well it depends what you define as a "star". The Gala aims to please everyone with a mix of Athletes, Actors, Musicians and TV Personalities. Although some of you might not care about the Raptors, many people were on Cloud 9 to be in the same room as them. Considering it's raising money for a local institution - not national - I think the list of names they drew out was actually pretty impressive. And tickets sold out well in advance so whatever they're doing, they're doing it right.

Of course, you weren't expecting George Clooney and Angelina now, were you? :p

Mr. Miracle, I only heard the tail end of your son's performance as it was at the beginning of the show when I was still covering the Red Carpet with last minute Celebrity arrivals. I think he sang a John Mayer cover if I'm correct and it sounded faithful to the original. You should be proud of your son. :)

  4. Did WWE Star Edge show up? He was on the Celebrity list.

    Thanks

  5. I've seen him there in previous years, but didn't see him at all the other night.
