ENRIQUE IGLESIAS IN TORONTO AT CHUM-FM (MORE PICS)

After causing a bit of chaos at Eaton Centre in Toronto yesterday at his Meet & Greet, Enrique Iglesias did another round of promotion today, focusing primarily on Radio for his new album Euphoria.  After a late night, Iglesias got up bright and early for an appearance on 104.5 CHUM FM's Morning Show with Roger, Rick and Marilyn, where I caught him along with a couple other fans who just couldn't get enough of him yesterday.

Iglesias arrived around 8:10 AM with Starbucks in-hand, promising to come out to greet after he finished his interview of the widely-heard program and he did just that, signing and personalizing anything thrown his way and posing one-on-one with each of us.  Wonderful.  Miraculously he was able to trek all the way across the City to Z103.5 FM in the west-end for another interview right after.

He was convinced that I am Filipino and this was our conversation (E denotes Enrique, W denotes Mr. Will-W.):

ENRIQUE IGLESIAS TORONTO EATON CENTRE MEET AND GREET | AUTOGRAPH CONTEST

Regardless of the fact that Enrique Iglesias has been out of the spotlight for a good amount of time, his fans came out in full force today at Sears' Toronto Eaton Centre store to show their adoration. Iglesias was cross-promoting both his new album Euphoria, a biligual release in English and Spanish, plus Azzaro Pour Homme for which he appears as the fragrance's new spokesperson. 300-plus lucky fans got a chance to meet Iglesias, and I was one of them.

Regardless how you feel about his music, one cannot deny his accomplishments.  He is one of few artists still standing and getting airplay after finding fame at the beginning of the Millennium.  One cannot deny an artist who has sold over 55 million albums and above that, many of us don't realize that he lived in Toronto for a duration while recording his debut English album Enrique.

A punctual Iglesias armed against the shower of flashing cameras, arrived in a pair of Sunglasses looking in fine form dressed in a T-shirt and Jeans, greeting hundreds - maybe even thousands - of onlookers at the storefront. He even took occasional breaks between signing autographs on-stage to come down to greet those without passes.  Now that's love.

ENRIQUE IGLESIAS EUPHORIA REVIEW

Euphoria is international superstar Enrique Iglesias' ninth studio album, but he changes the formula up a bit here releasing a Bilingual album, half Spanish/half English.  I will very honestly admit that I did enjoy the album's first two English singles, I Like It (ft. Pitbull) and Heartbeat (ft. Nicole Scherzinger), which although solid, have struggled to garner much Airplay in this Bieber/Gaga-fixated era.

Iglesias' other new tracks keep things melodic, summery and fun.  Dirty Dancer (ft. Usher) perhaps may find some  commercial success as it is made the same vein that his collaborator's smash OMG, heavy on the Garage Band-loops and Synths, while One Day at a Time (ft. Akon) has a resemblance to Lady Gaga's Eh Eh in being produced by the man responsible for her hits, RedOne.

NEW MUSIC: ENRIQUE IGLESIAS FT. NICOLE SCHERZINGER - HEARTBEAT

OMG. Although I’m totally ashamed to admit it, I love both of Enrique Iglesias two first singles from forthcoming album Euphoria. First single I Like It ft. Pitbull is this summer’s When Love Takes Over (Kelly Rowland/David Guetta) and instantly makes me want to put on a pair of Sandals and frolic in the Sand. But second single Heartbeat featuring failed Pussycat Doll-cum-Dancing with the Stars Queen Nicole Scherzinger, is magic. The electro-pop ballad is sexy and understated and I predict that it will be one of those rare hits that crosses over from both Adult Contemporary Radio and Top 40 radio seamlessly. Euphoria will be released via Universal Music July 6, 2010 in North America.
