DON DON IZAKAYA: FUN JAPANESE FARE IN TORONTO

Don Don Izakaya
60-plus varieties of Sake, exotic Cocktails, a wide array of Tapas-style Share Platters - many deep-fried, tangy and Japanese Mayo-infused, a lengthy list of Grilled Skewers and more, Don Don Izakaya (Bay Street x Dundas Street West) proves that Toronto Japanese Cuisine isn't only about Sushi, Sashimi and Bento Boxes. The beyond-friendly Servers take this dining experience to the next level; an escape to Tokyo if you will - even if only for a bit.

Open since January 2012, I'd advise definitely to visit at Dinner Hours or post-work when festivities are a peak and the exciting dining options surface from the more conservative Lunch fare.  The million-dollar Brainchild of five individuals who know the tastes of Locals well, including the connections behind the excellent but now defunct Kaiseki Sakura, Sushi Time and more. A perfect alternative for those unwilling to bear the hour-long (or more) queues at Guu Izakaya, not too far away.  A lot more affordable too.

Don Don Izakaya is situated at 130 Dundas Street West.
