American Idol Season Ten Finalists Lauren Alaina & Scotty McCreery |
Congratulations to 17 year-old Country Crooner Scotty McCreery, just crowned Season Ten American Idol tonight during a live broadcast from Staples Centre in Los Angeles. The North Carolina native defeated first runner-up Lauren Alaina, 16 years-old from Georgia. McCreery won American voters over with an original number I Love You This Big, among a selection of Country hits selected by himself, Judges and Mentors.
Some might be surprised about McCreery's victory this season considering his limited vocal range as a Baritone/Bass, reminiscent of a young Johnny Cash. More were shocked during the broadcast to hear him embrace Alaina on-stage after his victory telling her, "I love you, Baby". This fueled rumours further that he and Alaina are more than just Idol rivals, but possibly also Lovers. Hmm.
McCreery is expected to sign aboard with the Interscope Geffen A&M Records Group, distributed through Universal Music. He is the second youngest Idol winner in the Franchise's history behind Season Six winner Jordin Sparks.
