TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE BREAKING RECORDS

According the Deadline.Com, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse lives up to its name, eclipsing the success of New Moon's previous midnight record opening of $26.3 million. Based on early numbers, the film has already surpassed the $30 million mark from numbers compiled between midnight and 3 AM screenings. This undoubtedly is aided by the fact that it's showing a 4,000 plus theatres. In the IMAX format also, the film earned over $1 million, beating out Transformers 2's previous midnight record of $959K. Opening day numbers will be available tomorrow, so it remains to be seen just how big these numbers will be.

UPDATE: Eclipse falls short of New Moon's Opening Day record of $72.7 million, bringing in $68.5 million from Wednesday. Still stellar.
