KATY PERRY PREVIEWS NEW TRACKS OFF TEENAGE DREAM ON LIVE AT MUCH

I just got back from a closed-taping of Katy Perry's Live at Much performance where she performed all her singles to date from I Kissed a Girl up to California Gurls. Donning one of many custom-made Rubber Dresses she has worn in Toronto this past week, Perry sported Chocolate Chip Cookies today, indicating that she loves Chicken McNuggets so much that she will order a Dress with the Fast Food Delectables on it next.

The gorgeous California Girl herself sat down with VJ Sarah Taylor to discuss everything from her favourite Ice Cream flavour (Birthday Cake Surprise from Cold Stone Creamery) to how she was chosen for the role of Smurfette in the upcoming live-action feature The Smurfs based on a wav file sampling of her voice. When asked about her racy California Gurls video, she told the audience that her conservative Christian parents have yet to see it, whispering that she hopes to slip it by them without their noticing. Perry commended our Health Care system after gashing her leg on a Side Table while dancing at a party Sunday night after the MMVAs, wearing a sock to conceal her injury today.

Using the same identical Candyland-inspired set from Sunday night's MMVAs again, Perry invited the audience to take home Props from the Set and I nabbed a giant pink foam Bonbon wrapped in Cellophane, which drew a number of stares from some Butch Men walking along Queen Street. She is now off to Amsterdam as part of her aggressive promotional tour for sophomore album Teenage Dream.

After the live portion of the performance, Perry premiered two never-heard tracks off her new album. Fleetwood Mac-esque Teenage Dream is the confirmed second single, which somewhat sounds like a young niece to Kim Carnes' Bette Davis Eyes. It is the type of song that makes you recall sweet Summer Love  and with the album's release date slated for late August, I predict it will do very well based on its first two heavyweight singles. Perry also previewed Peacock, which I heard in remix format at Perez Hilton's One Night in Toronto party. Its playful refrain, "Let me see your Peacock...cock..cock..cock..cock... your Peacock...cock..cock..cock.." (no I am not joking), gives a nod to Gwen Stefani in its original edit.

You can hear two very lo-fi clips of the tracks now if you Google hard enough just for a general idea of what to expect from her next.  I cannot wait to hear the full studio edits.  Perry will indeed be missed after being so wonderful to this city (and  me!) this past week.
