At nine months pregnant, fashion icon and recording artiste
Róisín Murphy is still churning it out. As per reliable sources
EQ,
Arjan Writes and
Pitchfork,
Murphy streamed her new single
Orally Fixated from her still untitled album due early 2010. My initial reaction to this track isn’t as strong as it was to some of the more dance pop-oriented material she had on last studio effort
Overpowered. I have however, previewed a couple other tracks including the ultra-hot
Momma’s Place on
YouTube and am certain there are better singles to come off this next album. This is a bit of a teaser to tie us over until
Murphy is in full-on work mode again.
The suggestive
Orally Fixated has
Murphy giving her uncompromising lover a piece of her mind, asking him to “give his mouth a rest”. The electro-romp lacks a strong melody and is a bit of a
Prince throwback. The track will be available
November 16, 2009 in the UK digitally and the following day in North America.
