64TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARD NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

The Judges of NBC's The Voice
The 64th Primetime Emmy Award Nominees have been announced and indeed Television has stepped-up its game with field upon field of tough competition in each category. This year we see the return of AMC's Mad Men after a lengthy absence and it is a force to be reckoned with Elisabeth Moss, Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks and even the underrated Jared Harris being recognized for their superb work. HBO's Comedy, Girls, also is a force to be reckoned with, getting nods for Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actress in a Comedy with Lena Dunham.

ABC's Modern Family once again is well-represented with all four of its male Stars, Ty Burrell, Ed O'Neill, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson all up against each other for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Kristen Wiig stands a v. good chance at winning in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work on NBC's Saturday Night Live with this past season having been her finale one.

Julianne Moore is up against her The Hours Co-star Nicole Kidman for Outstanding Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in HBO's Game Change, while the latter is being recognized for her work in HBO's Hemingway & Gellhorn.  Ashley Judd somehow is angled into the same category for her work in Missing which after its cancellation, is now being considered a Miniseries? Girl, please.

Interestingly, NBC's The Voice is nominated in the category of Outstanding Reality Program, while the Godfather in the genre, FOX's American Idol fails to get any recognition from the Academy.  The two programs have had v. public feuds in the Media in the past with Idol's Randy Jackson having called its Foe, "second-rate".

ASHLEY JUDD IN TORONTO FOR "MISSING"

Ashley Judd in Toronto - March 2012
Activist/Author/Actress Ashley Judd might be known best for some major Box Office successes like 1997's Kiss the Girls and 1999's Double Jeopardy, but after a hiatus which saw her earning a Master's Degree in Public Administration at Harvard University in 2010, she now is ready to step back into the spotlight.

Arriving in Toronto from Nashville this evening, Judd is ready to embark on a Press Tour in support of her new ABC Series Missing, which sees her starring as a former CIA Agent on-the-hunt for her missing Son after he disappears while on an internship in Rome.  Each of its ten episodes sees her in a different City, uncovering details of the Mystery.

With her Cock-a-Poo Shug and luggage in-tow, a casual and fresh-faced Judd was greeted by a Handler, with two Photographers looking to snap shots of her in this her first promotional visit to Toronto in a while.  She has visited the City on previous occasions along with her Husband Dario Franchitti, who was victorious in the 2011 Honda Indy last Summer.

ARIANNA HUFFINGTON, CO-FOUNDER AND EDITOR OF "THE HUFFINGTON POST" IN TORONTO

Arianna Huffington & Mr. Will-W.
Arianna Huffington née Arianna Stassinopoulos needs no introduction to those of you who follow widely-read website The Huffington Post, known most for its Liberal perspective on Politics.  The website is so popular that many Celebrities have Guest Blogged on it including the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Ashley Judd, Paul Reiser and Mark Ruffalo.  In addition to being a respected Commentator, Editor and Co-founder of that prolific website, Huffington was ranked as Forbes Magazine's twelfth Most Influencial Woman in Media in 2009.  It is expected that this result will not be dissimilar when 2010's tally is published.

The gorgeous and poised Huffington arrived in Toronto Sunday night to promote her latest book Third World America: How Our Politicians Are Abandoning the Middle Class and Betraying the American Dream.  Among other appearances, she was slated to visit Global Television and CBC.  Huffington's book critiques how Americans have destroyed their own ideal of the American Dream, yet also offers insights on how to correct these problems.  She also was to serve as a Keynote Speaker at the Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards Summit & Gala on Monday night to be held at Allstream Centre.  Surely she would have a lot to say about WikiLeaks' recent publishing of raw and confidential government documents in the tens of thousands.  To bring yourself up to speed on that, click here.
