FIRST OFFICIAL TRAILER: "MAGIC MIKE"

Still from Magic Mike
"Women. Money. And a good time".

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I first heard Steven Soderbergh was working with Channing Tatum on a Male Stripper Flick based somewhat on Tatum's life? A full official Trailer for Magic Mike finally has surfaced and this actually looks like lots of fun and can't wait to see more... err, or do I mean less? LOL

Warner Bros. releases Magic Mike June 29, 2012. Tatum, Pettyfer. Bomer. McConaughey. Soderbergh. Summer heat.

FIRST LOOK: "MAGIC MIKE" STARRING ALEX PETTYFER, MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY & CHANNING TATUM

Still from Magic Mike
Finally, we get a first look at Steven Soderbergh's Male-Stripper Drama Magic Mike. The Film centers around The Kid (a now-buff Alex Pettyfer) who goes under the wings of a professional, more experienced Dancers named Mike (Channing Tatum) and Dallas (Matthew McConaughey). It is said that Tatum played a great part behind-the-scenes crafting the Story and that much of this is based upon his own experiences formerly as an Exotic Dancer.

Here we have the incredibly fit and good looking Cast ready to answer the call of the Drill Sargent (McConaughey), doing his nation proud with a flag tied around his neck.  Nothing like some good old-fashion Patriotism.

Speaking of Patriotism, Warner Bros. will be releasing Magic Mike right before 4th of July weekend on June 29, 2012 and I'm sure many of you are ready to salute!

2012 will be a busy year for Tatum as he has Haywire out on January 20, 2012, Toronto-filmed The Vow out on February 10, 2012 in-time for Valentine's Day, 21 Jump Street on March 12, 2012 and G.I. Joe: Retaliation out on June 29, 2012.  His Ten Year, which premiered at TIFF last September also is still waiting on a release date also.  I'm out of breath just typing that....

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY JOINS CAST OF "MAGIC MIKE"

Matthew McConaughey in Toronto - March 2011
It's official.  Magic Mike just may be the sexiest Film to hit theatres in 2012.  As announced previously Steven Soderbergh is helming a Film about Male Strippers titled Magic Mike.  Its Story follows Mike (Channing Tatum), a veteran Exotic Dancer, who mentors a newcomer played by Alex PettyferMcConaughey, according to Entertainment Weekly will be playing the role of the Club Owner.

Magic Mike begins filming September 14, 2011, just after Tatum's likely return to Toronto for TIFF, where he is expected to show up for the Premiere of Ten Year, also starring his Wife Jenna Dewan. We'll know that for sure though when the official Guest List for TIFF is announced next Tuesday, August 23, 2011.

Tatum was in Toronto just last Fall, filming The Vow alongside Rachel McAdams, which will be released Valentine's Day 2012.

COLIN FARRELL SPOTTED IN TORONTO | "FRIGHT NIGHT" TRAILER

Official Poster for Fright Night
He might be creeping out his neighbours in upcoming Horror/Comedy Fright Night from Walt Disney Motion Pictures, but Irish Hunk Colin Farrell is certainly a welcome addition to our neighbourhood! Farrell was spotted out in Yorkville earlier today, enjoying some last-minute leisure time before preparations begin for Sony Pictures’ upcoming Total Recall reboot, filming in Toronto over the Summer. Just this past weekend, he was spotted in New York City.

Keep your eyes peeled. Surely those good looks of his will make it hard to keep your eyes off of him?

In the meantime, watch the Trailer for Fright Night in full below:

"RANGO" OUT-WRANGLES ITS COMPETITION AT BOX OFFICE

Still from Rango
Rango reigns supreme at the Box Office this weekend, winning by a clear margin with $38 million for Paramount. The Animated Feature starring Johnny Depp and Isla Fisher won also with Critics, garnering an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer.

Perhaps carefully-timed delays has paid off for Universal, pushing back the release of The Adjustment Bureau multiple times. Placing second with $20.9 million and screening in 1,100 fewer theatres than Rango, the Science Fiction/Romance starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt has received generally positive reviews  (69% on Rotten Tomatoes) also.

Beastly lands in third in its debut for CBS Films with $10.1 million. The loose Adaption of classic Beauty & The Beast has been panned by Critics.  Despite debuting on-top last week by a hair, Hall Pass keeps Gnomeo & Juliet at bay again slipping from first to fourth this weekend with $9 million earned in its second week of release.

The King's Speech after winning Best Picture at the Oscars last weekend moves up one spot to seventh with $6.5 million. To date it has earned over $123 million domestically in 15 weeks of release.

Disney's I Am Number Four drops to ninth spot with $5.7 million, a second title starring Alex Pettyfer in the Top Ten.

BEASTLY - MOVIE REVIEW

Still from Beastly
It's somewhat like Beauty & The Beast but just not. Director/Screenwriter Daniel Barns' Beastly centers around Kyle (Alex Pettyfer), a cocky, affluent and vain High Schooler with aspirations of becoming President of his Student Council. He toys with Kendra's (Mary-Kate Olsen) emotions, leading her to think he might be attracted to her, but before long he pays the price for his actions after he humiliates her in public.  She casts a magical spell  on Kyle, which deforms his perfect body and face. Devastated, he loses his self-confidence completely and drops out of school, as his perfection-obsessed Father estranges him also.

He is given one year to break Kendra's spell, but in order to do so he must be told he is loved by somebody. If not, he will be condemned forever with his ghastly looks and this forces Kyle to re-evaluate himself.  He becomes enamoured with a Girl at his School named Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) and takes her under his care, away from a life of danger with her Drug-dependent Father.  Having had affections for Kyle, Lindy never realizes that this kind-hearted stranger caring for her is in fact the Guy she has had feelings for all along.  Will she fall in love with him in time to break Kendra's devastating spell?

"UNKNOWN" IS KNOWN FOR TAKING TOP SPOT AT BOX OFFICE

Still from Unknown
In a v. evenly-matched race at the Box Office this weekend, Warner Bros.' Unknown winds up taking the top spot. The Thriller starring Liam Neeson and Mad Men's January Jones, despite mixed reviews overall (56% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer) will bring in $21.8 million by end of weekend.
Disney's I Am Number Four takes second spot. Starring real-life Couple Alex Pettyfer and Glee's Dianna Agron, the Action/Fantasy brought in $19.5 million in its opening weekend. There is talk of this developing into a Franchise and clearly there's a demand for it among Movie-goers.

Following closely in third is Gnomeo & Juliet 3-D with $19.4 million for eOne Films/Summit Entertainment. The Animated Feature set to the music of Elton John, debuted in third also last week, holding steady despite a 23.4% drop.
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston's Just Go With It slips to fourth this weekend with $18.2 million, after denying Justin Bieber's Never Say Never 3-D top spot last weekend.  To date it has earned $63.5 million, well on its way to recouping its $80 million production budget for Sony Pictures.

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son in my opinion didn't need to made at all, but the latest installment of the Martin Lawrence franchise debuts in fifth with a not-too-shabby $17 million. One thing is clear - people love seeing Black Men in Drag as evinced by the success of this and Tyler Perry's wildly successful Madea Films.
