A NOTE OF THANKS

I wanted to drop a quick note to say "thanks" to all of you who have been so supportive of me after yesterday's ordeal Mr. Will-W.:Pop Maven has soared to new heights in exposure, reaching a record number of views these past few days and I'm positive that things will only continue to go upwards. Whether it be your comments on Facebook, your supportive Tweets, Emails and Text Messages, I want you to know that I appreciate it and I am touched genuinely.

I did a quick tally of my YouTube Channel which only recently reached the three million views mark and it came to my attention that today Mr. Will-W. on YouTube is the #2 Most Viewed Channel in Canada and furthermore, it is #35 in the World.  Thank you.

I want you to know that despite what had occurred yesterday, I still am a devout Monster and the actions of Lady Gaga's Handler have no bearing on how I feel about her as an Artist.  I will continue to show my support for her and her Music. I hope only that this doesn't happen to any other Fans of hers as nobody deserves that.

Please continue being vocal and keep visiting, my Mavenati!  Your support means everything to me.

KATY PERRY REHEARSES "CALIFORNIA GURLS" DURING MMVAs SOUNDCHECK IN TORONTO: PICTURES AND VIDEO

My girl Katy Perry did a couple run-throughs of her Billboard Hot 100 Chart-topper California Gurls (sans Snoop Dogg today) and she has perhaps the most elaborate set-up of all acts performing at this year's MMVAs.  Just like the original music video, Perry's performance at the show tonight will be Candyland inspired with Candy Canes, Candy Floss and Gingerbread galore.  Yummy.

Her singing was pretty much identical to the recorded version with no surprises in terms of song re-arrangement.  Although I'm sure she knows she's not Dancing with The Stars material, she makes an effort with no-fuss Choreography and I'm sure what she lacks in Dancing she will make up for with a super-hot outfit.   That will remain to be seen.  Two more days before I get to preview new material from her album Teenage Dream.  Can't wait!

Check out some pictures from Perry's rehearsal and a video below (audio content owned by EMI Music):

MILEY CYRUS REHEARSES "CAN'T BE TAMED" FOR TORONTO'S MMVAs: PICTURES AND VIDEO

I think I'm sold completely on Miley Cyrus now finally.  She really is such a  hard-worker and despite people's perceptions of her as being unlikable, I think what we need to understand is that when you achieve the level of success she has at her 17 years of age, and being managed by her mother, she is taught to be very guarded.  I've only witnessed her for a couple days and it's completely insane the level of attention she gets from fans.  Everybody wants her photo with her or of her.  It just gets to the point where one has to set limits.

So far I've seen two sides of her character.  Guarded Cyrus and the Cyrus who really loves her fans and wants to spend time with them.  Last night I witnessed the kinder side on her way out of MuchMusic's headquarters.  Her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, knew to take his place standing back as she greeted fans one by one.  And she signed a photo for me too, which I considering an amazing honour. She will be around for quite some time.

KATY PERRY SIGNS AUTOGRAPHS FOR YOUNG GIRLS

Now, I told you she was a sweetheart. Watch Katy Perry sign autographs for three little girls in front of her Hotel here in Toronto earlier tonight. Absolutely endearing. She'd really make an excellent Mother... in the least bitter Alanis Morissette kind of way!

KE$HA VS. LADY GAGA - POP MUSIC IS NOT DEAD

VS.

As announced last week, Lady Gaga set a new airplay record for most spins in a week (10,859) for her smash hit Bad Romance according to Nielsen BDS.  Newcomer Ke$ha however, shattered Lady Gaga's record just one week later with 11,224 spins of TiK ToK, which has been number one for the past five weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.  Dance Pop is definitely back and bigger than ever, indeed.

We often pit two strong young women together in the media - i.e. the whole Britney vs. Christina thing back in the late '90s.  Why do we do it?  Because it's fun and we all love a good catfight   Besides the point, it's great publicity for both and clearly they are benefitting from it all.

Just scrolling through the comments section of my YouTube channel, the Ke$ha versus Lady Gaga debate is already starting to heat up.  The general consensus however, is that fans know to differentiate the two artists still.  Ke$ha is fun, carefree pop music; Lady Gaga is Pop-Art.  I would tend to agree with this observation.  And if I were to draw a parallel myself, I'd say the former 's music is like a Big Mac Combo at Mcdonald's - it hits the spot and leaves you wanting more.  The latter's music is more like a sit-down sushi dinner - accessible, yet intricately-detailed.

Avatar also now also holds the all-time record for worldwide Box Office gross, earning $1.86 billion in just 38 days in theatres.  Whomever said that it is a bleak time for Film and Pop Music may just need to rethink that train of thought.  How can we claim that the illegal downloading of movies and music are killing the entertainment industry in a time when records are being set?   (Photo Credit: MR.
