THE 2011 MET GALA - RED CARPET VICTRESSES

One of my favourite events of the year to creep is the the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art's Costume Institute Gala and the Ladies came out in full force again this year.  The Gala this year features the Exhibition, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, honouring the late Designer whose Successor Sarah Burton has had Fashionistas in a fury uniformly with Kate Middleton's Grace Kelly-inspired Wedding Dress.

Jennifer Hudson flaunted that new Body in Oscar de la RentaJennifer Lopez stunned in Gucci.  Blake Lively shocked in ChanelDakota Fanning was cute in Valentino. Salma Hayek was flawless in Alexander McQueenMadonna was demure in Stella McCartney. Both Sofia Vergara and Renée Zellweger were perfection in Carolina Herrera.

RENEE ZELLWEGER & COLIN FIRTH REUNITE AT "THE KING'S SPEECH" AUDI PARTY

Renée Zellweger & Colin Firth
She hasn't looked this good in years!  Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth did a Bridget Jones's Diary reunion of their own reunion at Château Marmont last night as Audi hosted a part for Oscar Contender The King's Speech

The Party was full of talent including the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Michelle Williams, Busy Phillips, Cory Monteith, Gerard Butler and Orlando Bloom.

The Party comes one day after the annual Oscars Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel where Nominees showed-up in full force except for a noticably absent Director David Fincher for The Social Network.

NEVER UNDER-ESTIMATE THE POWER OF FACEBOOK

The Social Network Still
Never under-estimate the power of Social Networking. For example, David Fincher's The Social Network destroyed its competition at the Box Office this weekend. The true story of Mark Zuckerberg's rise to fame as the creator of Facebook impressed both critics and audiences, taking in $23 million its opening.

Surprisingly resilient though is animated feature Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole 3-D, which brought in $10.9 million in its second week - enough to land it in second. The film has earned $30 million to-date domestically and undoubtedly was helped by the fact it is still showing in 3,575 theatres.

Last week's champion Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps slips to third spot this weekend with $10.1 million, placing it just ahead of Ben Affleck's The Town which is in fourth with $10 million earned - still going strong.

Easy A is a certified hit, landing in fifth this weekend with $7 million. Made for just $8 million, it has brought Sony Screen Gems $42.4 million in three weeks.

Real-life lovers Renée Zellweger and Bradley Cooper's Case 39 debuted in seventh spot with $5.4 million, being made for $26 million. After several delays in release and an underwhelming performance, many are beginning to doubt Zellweger's ability to pull in an audience after a string of blemishes recently like New in Town, My One and Only and Miss Potter.

AMY ADAMS TO PLAY JANIS JOPLIN

Yes!  At long last the much-talked about Janis Joplin Biopic tentatively-titled Piece of My Heart, has founded Janis!  Prior to her death, Brittany Murphy was rumoured to be attached to the project, as was Oscar winner Renée Zellwegger.  Separately, Zooey Deschanel and P!nk were also said to be considered at one point too for other Joplin-related films, but all have failed to surface.  Alas, it will be Oscar nominee Amy Adams in the coveted role of the ill-fated singer according to Access Hollywood

Although I am a huge fan of Adams, I'm not quite sure how she will be in this role, but The Academy loves to see actors transform come Oscars time and I'm sure the actress will be up to the unflattering challenge.

A-LISTERS ARRIVE AT MET BALL RED CARPET

A whole lot of hotness is going on this evening at the annual MET Ball (Costume Institute Gala) held at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art, as A-Listers show off their best A.  The event celebrating the opening of the American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity exhibit, is hosted by Anna Wintour, Oprah Winfrey and Patrick Robinson (The Gap).

Check out these gorgeous photos above and more which can be found on the amazing Just Jared.  I must say, I'm loving dashing Daniel Craig in his Burberry tux and how about stunning Sienna Miller in Emilio Pucci...  jealousy-worthy Jennifer Lopez elegant in Zuhair Murad... or magnificent Maggie Gyllenhaal in Louis Vuitton?  I live for this!  Did you know that Lady Gaga did a surprise performance at the gala also?

And what I said last week about Renée Zellweger's face?  Just scratch that for now.  She looks fantastic in her favourite designer Carolina Herrera above.  (Photo credit: Just Jared/Getty Images)

THE PERILS OF PLASTIC - RENÉE ZELLWEGER

Okay, generally I try to be kind, but today I was visiting JustJared and stumbled upon these photos of Renée Zellweger at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her latest film My Own Love Song, in which she plays a wheelchair bound singer. My question is, "What in the world happened to her face?".

I know it's not nice to accuse people wrongly of getting Plastic Surgery/Botox, but if you look at Zellweger in these side-by-side photos of her at her finest (2001 Oscars) and then today, it's clear to the eye that there are "differences".  If her decline is in fact a result of cosmetic enhancement, I really hope that you will take a good look at this and just see why it is these procedures are better in theory than practice.  There is not enough self-love in this world and if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Please don't get me wrong - I loved Zellweger in both installments of Bridget Jones's Diary, Chicago, Cold Mountain, Miss Potter and Cinderella Man and for a while she was definitively my favourite actress, but I'm not quite sure what's come of her career of late, especially with a few of her recent projects going straight to video like Case 39 (starring alongside boyfriend Bradley Cooper) and My One and Only.  Her last big release to make it on the big screen was New in Town and that performed below commercial and critical expectations too.
