ADELE SCORES SECOND U.S. BILLBOARD #1 HIT WITH "SOMEONE LIKE YOU"

Congratulations to Adele who notches her second U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number one in-a-row with Someone Like You.  The success of the Ballad comes hot on the heels of her last U.S. #1, Rolling in the Deep, which has gone on to reach 4x Platinum sales in the U.S. and 5x Platinum in Canada.

Above is a Video I captured of her performing the Track in Toronto this March when she visited MTV Canada.  She actually even posted this on her Facebook Page for her Fans!  Real Music.  Real Emotion.

ADELE TOPS U.S. BILLBOARD HOT 200 FOR SIXTH WEEK

Adele in Toronto - March 2011
Congratulations, Adele! Quickly becoming a household name in North America, the British Siren achieves her sixth non-consecutive week at the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 200 Album Chart this week. Closing in on the 1.4 million sales mark after its stateside release on February 22, 2011, she sold 124,000 copies of the sophomore Disc 21 this past week according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Her success has been duplicated north of the Border also, where she remains at number one for a second consecutive week on the Canadian Albums Chart after hovering near the top for the past ten weeks.

Doin’ it right. Rolling in the green....

ADELE COVERS "ROLLING STONE"

Adele on May 2011 issue of Rolling Stone
Finally, Adele lands a Rolling Stone Cover, overdue considering Snooki of all people beat her to the punch. The British Soul Siren chats with contributing Editor Touré about everything from Stage Fright to her estranged Father in the upcoming May issue. Although you’d never know it from watching her perform live, Adele admits: “I’m scared of audiences”.

A bona fide crossover success now in North America having topped both the U.S. and Canada Billboard Album Charts, Adele’s upcoming Toronto Concert originally slated for May 18, 2011 at a club venue in Kool Haus, has been upgraded to Air Canada Centre after a bit of shuffling. And that’s about as big as it gets in the City.

Adele also discusses her body image in the Interview, admitting that even if she were to have a fantastic body that she wouldn’t flaunt it. She confesses, “I love seeing Lady Gaga's boobs and bum… I love seeing Katy Perry's boobs and bum. Love it. But that's not what my music is about. I don't make music for eyes. I make music for ears.". Whatever she’s doing, it’s working. Congrats, Adele!

ADELE LEAVES TORONTO | SIGNED PHOTO GIVEAWAY

Mr. Will-W. & Adele
I had the wonderful privilege of meeting the beautiful and talented Adele today finally, but mind you, I had to work v. hard for it.  After some efforts were made on my part to secure Face-time with Adele during her Promotional Tour for Album 21, I had failed to receive any follow-up whatsoever from her Canadian label, Beggars Group Canada, after being reassured today efforts would be made to fit me in this afternoon.

Originally, I was advised that some Face Time would be secured with Adele last night following her MTV LIVE performance. Now, I am big enough of a Boy to understand that nothing's "for sure" in this World, but on that same token, I'm also big enough of a Boy to know that it is common courtesy to follow-up when someone says they will.

My Readers will know that I have always been an avid supporter of Adele's Music and being ignored outright does not sit well with me, especially when other prominent Labels treat me with the trust and respect I deserve for wanting to help promote and give their Artists a bit of exposure.   Believe me, I tried.  I called, left a message, e-mailed and sent text messages.

Never to be one to back-down to defeat, I did a bit of groundwork and arrived early at the Airport. Waiting about patiently for an hour, a glimmer of hope came suddenly when some familiar faces appeared through the Sliding Doors.  And there she was, pushing forth her own Luggage under the warmth of her Louis Vuitton Scarf.  Adele!

ADELE AT MTV LIVE CANADA | PICS & VIDEO RECAP

Adele at MTV LIVE - March 2011
Alas, soulful British Siren Adele has arrived in Toronto safe and sound to promote her sophomore Disc 21. She did however, have a few scary moments during her bumpy flight from Los Angeles, which had her downing in her words, "a lot of Wine" to help calm the nerves. All is well now.  Especially considering she just received news today that the Album has reached number one in Canada.  A similar fate is expected south of the Border.

Performing tonight before an intimate audience on MTV Canada's staple program MTV LIVE, Adele performed five songs (a mix of old and new) and answered some thought-provoking questions, giving the lucky audience some insight into the Character behind that infectious laugh which Mega-Producer Ryan Tedder for one, can distinguish without fail.

Adele reveals that she and Tedder had once crossed paths in an Elevator in their Hotel, and even with her hidden behind some balloons, he knew that those giggles he heard had belonged to none other than her.  Getting along rather famously, they had then begun to collaborate on what would become some of 21's more poignant moments like the gritty Rumour Has It and heart-wrenching Turning Tables.  The latter was written on the simple instruction to Tedder of creating something "bitter". Voila!  It was completed in less than 30 minutes.  Quicker than a Pizza Delivery.

ADELE TO EMBARK ON US/CANADA TOUR THIS SPRING

Adele in Toronto - April 2009
Great news! Grammy-winning British Siren Adele will be embarking on a North American Tour this Spring, her first since 2009. Now back with her second album 21, this Tour will be presented by Live Nation. Click here for a list of dates.  More will be added soon.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Adele live before and yes, she's just as good live as on the Recording, which despite sounding easy to do, isn't always the case with many Artists.  Check out this Video I got of her doing a stunning rendition of Bob Dylan's To Make You Feel My Love she performed at Massey Hall from her last Tour.

REVIEW: ADELE - 21

Sometimes an Artist just has to get hurt to record an amazing Album and that is the case with British Singer/Songwriter Adele's sophomore effort, 21. And does it ever hurt so good. It is quite astounding how polished a product the Set is compared to the double Grammy winner's debut from 2008, 19, and all it took was a bit more of a budget and the masterful production of some helping hands like Rick Rubin (Josh Groban, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Paul Epworth (Florence & The Machine), Dan Wilson (Dixie Chicks), Fraser T. Smith (Cee Lo) and Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic). 21 is an immaculately-produced collection of songs which deliver truly on the promise shown in being awarded a Critics' Choice Award at The Brits before even releasing a full-length album.

The Disc captures perfectly the emotions one might experience post-breakup - that endless fluctuating between angst, lust, revenge and ultimately forgiveness. First single Rolling in the Deep soars high with its big Chorus, with Adele reflecting upon what could've been if it weren't for his "playing her.... to the beat". Adele leaves things open-ended for a brief moment, but quickly clarifies what happened  exactly in this love-gone-wrong, revealing on the gritty track Rumour Has It, that there might have been a bit of a wandering eye in this older Man with a taste for younger Women. Produced by Tedder, Adele manages successfully to maintain control of the track, refusing to let it sound like every other hit he has produced in recent memory. Turning Tables, also co-written by Tedder, is much in the same vein as Adele's earlier Hometown Glory with its euphoric piano arpeggios, strings and a mood darkened by her examining those hard feelings she still harbours which have in effect strengthened her.

21 features a strong selection of Ballads, tugging insistently on the heartstrings. Wilson adds a bit of Country flare to the album's most gorgeous ballad Don't You Remember, a likely candidate as a follow-up single with its crossover potential to a Stateside audience. The same could be said about Someone Like You, another winning collaboration with Wilson which appears late.
