I must say I’m a little bit devastated that Roman Polanski’s Carnage will be doing the rounds at the Venice Film Festival come September, while a Toronto Premiere hasn’t yet been announced.  It appears also that Steven Soderbergh’s  Contagion also will get a Premiere in Venice, while no Toronto plans have been firmed-up yet.

On that flipside, this TIFF definitely is not lacking in star power at all.  Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Madonna, Gerard Butler, Jane Fonda, Seth Rogen, Michael Fassbender, U2, Michelle Yeoh and so many more are names we are proud to showcase in our City!

Stay tuned as more titles are to come…  There is still hope for many of these!

  1. Most of these movies sound completely ridiculous!

Butter - about a Girl in the Midwest who learns she has a talent for Butter-carving.-- LOL. OoooKaaaay. Does someone show up with a "I can't believe it's not butter" bottle?

Machine Gun Preacher – Gerard Butler stars as Sam Childers, a former Drug Dealer/Biker who goes on a mission to save Sudanese children from being forced into becoming soldiers.-- Oh, gawd, I can just imagine the straining for Oscar in every scene.

Trishna – directed by Michael Winterbottom – The tragic love story of a Property Developer’s Son and an Auto Rickshaw Owner’s Daughter; stars Freida Pinto. -- Slum lords son meets daughter of a cabbie...and they're off. Cuz we've never seen this type of story before. *eyeroll*

Looks like TIFF is losing ground to Venice. Btw, who the hell let Seth Rogen in?

There will be lotso bitchin, fartin, tabacee chewin, burpin, nut scratchin in this I'm sure. Sounds like a real classic. NOT.

The Ides of March and The Descendants sound like more of Georgie Porgies {borefests/award bait} that no one remembers; however, The Descendants, might have some potential.

Sounds similar to The Driver with Ryan O'Neal and Isabelle Adjani.
