JIM CARREY PARODY PARODIES "BLACK SWAN" ON "SNL"

Jim Carrey in Black Swan Parody
Jim Carrey hosted Saturday Night Live last night in a triumphant return to the screen after having taken some time off to handle personal issues, including his break-up from Jenny McCarthy.  Although there hasn't been much promotion for his repeatedly-delayed new film I Love You Phillip Morris, this appearance is a perfect reminder why the Canadian Actor is in a league of his own.

Skit after skit was Comedy Gold for Carrey and in particular last night, this Black Swan parody made me laugh uncontrollably. Parodying Mila Kunis' character of Lily, Carrey dons a black Tutu and a pair of - get this - Buffalo Wings  versus Angel Wings tattooed on his back, repeatedly trying to seduce Vincent Cassel's Toma (Bill Hader) from Natalie Portman's Nina (Abby Elliot).  Does he succeed?  You'll see.

Although there might be regional restrictions, you can stream the Clip in full below here from NBC's site:

THE NEW YORK TIMES' ACTORS WHO DEFINED CINEMA IN 2010

Vincent Cassel in The New York Times
I look forward to this every year! The New York Times has just published their annual Photos of The Actors Who Defined Cinema in 2010 and as expected, the Black & White Portraits are stunning.

Among those photographed by The New York Times' Solve Sundsbo this year are the likes of James Franco, Natalie Portman, Jesse Eisenberg, Vincent Cassel, Annette Bening, Javier Bardem, Matt Damon and more.  My favourite is the above Gene Kelly-like shot of Cassel.

Click here to see the complete series of Portraits or purchase Sunday's edition of The New York Times which includes a free Magazine with these photos.  Portman will be gracing its Cover in case you needed that extra incentive.

I know I don't own these Photos, but I can't help posting a couple more of my favourites because I love them so much!

BLACK SWAN TIFF PRESS CONFERENCE PHOTOS

Natalie Portman at Press Conference for Black Swan
The stars were out in full-force at Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan Press Conference this morning. As expected, Natalie Portman chose to remain low-key, zipping in and out of her Hybrid SUV, likely picked-out specially for her out of her concern for the Environment. Co-star Winona Ryder who is shy notoriously also did the same although Barbara Hershey, Vincent Cassel and Darren Aronofsky were a lot more generous.

In case you missed it, my review of the film is here.

BLACK SWAN TRAILER

Black Swan poster
The trailer for Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan has just surfaced and it looks like an intense bit of a emotional rollercoaster, with a few surprise twists and turns thrown in, yes?  It is exactly what Showgirls aspired to be. Not that I didn't love Showgirls.

Portman is fantastic at "being done-to" in this Trailer, channeling some of that pain and fire we saw the ill-fated The Other Boleyn Girl, Closer and last year's TIFF selection, the excellent Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, which still has yet to surface.  And yes, you did see right.  There appears to be some girl-on-girl action going on there.

The thriller starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Vincent Cassel about a pair of dueling Ballerinas, will hit theatres December 1, 2010 via Fox Searchlight.  And how about that haunting just released poster for the film?  Looks like somebody's been hard at work and needs a nap... or just lay off the Medicinal Marijuana.
