LADY GAGA PERFORMS TELEPHONE ON "MUSIC STATION" IN JAPAN

Check out this performance of Lady Gaga which aired on popular Japanese television program Music Station last night. Mesmerizing as usual. As she didn't perform Telephone on the first leg of The Monster Ball Tour, I will be waiting eagerly 'til July when she arrives in Toronto once again!

REVIEW: LADY GAGA - THE REMIX (JAPAN ONLY IMPORT)

Currently available only as a Japanese import, Lady Gaga's The Remix takes her first seven singles (six, if you are in North America) and gives you a condensed 17-track radio edit selection of some noteworthy remixes to-date.  The disc with an über-provocative cover, illustrates the worldwide phenomenon that Lady Gaga has become since debut single Just Dance.  

On the disc are an unnecessary three contributions from her own DJ /friend Space Cowboy (Just Dance, Poker Face and LoveGame), plus a RedOne (her co-producer) remix of Just Dance - all which I assume were chosen out of loyalty rather than merit since they have been an instrumental part of her early success.  Die-hard fans though will note some duplications from her Hitmixes EP which was released last September.  

Unfortunately, the excellent Jody den Broeder mix of Poker Face has been excluded from the set and I feel this is a glaring discrepancy.  The excellent Pet Shop Boys remix of Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) surfaces here however, which is a huge plus for the otherwise floundering track.  And another interesting choice thrown in the mix here is the Chew Fu Ghettohouse Fix of LoveGame featuring Marilyn Manson.  No sign of the popular Dave Aude remix of the track though.

Finally! Lady Gaga and Beyoncé's new video for Telephone, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, has premiered and was there ever any doubt that it would be outstanding? The Tarantino-inspired video clocks in at 9:32 and is full of bras, panties, dancing, heels, girl-fights, revenge and Plenty of Fish, Wonder Bread, Virgin Mobile and Miracle Whip product placements. What more could one ask for? Can you spot the celebrity cameos?

LADY GAGA & DAME HELEN MIRREN: ONE DEGREE OF SEPARATION

Lady Gaga just released this teaser photo  (right) from her soon-to-be-released Telephone (ft. Beyoncé) video on her Twitter page.  The video will premiere Friday, March 12, 2010 and is said to be a continuation of her beyond stellar Paparazzi video which was also directed by Jonas Åkerlund.

And speaking of Gaga, Oscar winning Dame Helen Mirren had nothing but praise for her in this statement she made a couple weeks ago: "To this day I love sexuality. I love the art of sexuality. I love Lady Gaga and the performance of sexuality. The mysterious, the artistic and the slightly perverse. I'm interested in all that."  When I grow up I want to be cool just like that.

Mirren is in Toronto right now filming action-comedy Red starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Mary-Louise Parker, Richard Dreyfuss and handsome Julian McMahon.  A majority of the cast is staying at a hotel in the Entertainment District (which Gaga also stayed at recently during her The Monster Ball Tour) and after getting a tip-off last night, I decided to go see if I could catch a glimpse of Mirren.  According to my secret source who actually met her on Wednesday night, she was very nice and actually signed an autograph for him, dropping her bags of gear to greet him.  She of course, was not wearing any make-up and refused to be photographed.  

NEW MUSIC: ALPHABEAT - TELEPHONE/BAD ROMANCE ALPHAMONSTERMASHUP MEDLEY (LADY GAGA COVER)

Danish super-group Alphabeat have just leaked this medley of Telephone/Bad Romance (AlphaMonsterMashUp) originally by Lady Gaga, to commemorate the launch of The Monster Ball World Tour's UK leg.  They were been hand-picked by Gaga herself as the tour's opening act.  The track is featured as Song of the Day at pop music authority PopJustice and rightfully so. 

In all honesty, I didn't really enjoy the group's Polydor Records (Universal Music) sophomore effort The Spell nearly as much as their debut This is Alphabeat from EMI. The second album bordered a bit too much on camp to be taken seriously in my opinion, whereas the first album was just the right balance between camp and proper pop. But this right here, is good stuff.  The music takes a bit more of a supporting role behind lead female vocalist Stine Bramsen, who sounds solid. Four minutes of 90sliciousness.

The single is available for those of you in the UK, as a free download in Amazon.com.  Unfortunately though the track is not available internationally.

NEW MUSIC: LADY GAGA FT. BEYONCÉ - TELEPHONE

Jesus, God Almighty. I did hear Lady Gaga and Beyoncé were collaborating together but I wasn't expecting the results to be anywhere near this good. Telephone is produced by famed R&B producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and it is his best work in quite some time especially after a disappointing string of singles with The Pussycat Dolls. The track was just confirmed today as the next single off Lady Gaga's forthcoming release, Monster.

Beyoncé and Lady Gaga also collaborated on a remix of the former's new single Video Phone, although the results were mixed due to that track lacking any real substance or a melody. They both also recently filmed a video for that remix, which will be appearing on the completely unnecessary release of Beyoncé's I Am...Sasha Fierce (Deluxe Edition).

I'll admit it is pleasant hearing Beyoncé pull back a little here compared to her Destiny's Child days all in the spirit of collaboration. I cannot help but love that Boney M. Euro-sensibility Lady Gaga so proudly pays homage to, as heard on her massive hits Poker Face and Bad Romance. This will be huge. As I was telling Robbie of Chart Rigger, Lady Gaga has made me fall in love so seamlessly of late. It's as if she slipped me a Roofie in my Latte .... and I want more!!!
