NEW MUSIC: THE CAST OF GLEE - BAD ROMANCE (LADY GAGA COVER)

Ooh.  Some additional tracks have surfaced from Glee: The Music, Volume 3, in stores May 18, 2010 via Sony Music.  And although I really had my hopes up for their rendition of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance upon seeing the disc's track listing, I am slightly underwhelmed by the finished product.  The cast sounds tired and you can hear it and hopefully someone at Fox is reading because Ryan Murphy needs to re-direct the focus off of trying to get viewers and instead focus back on the main storylines and why it is we were hooked in the first place.  Perhaps it's time for a break?

REVIEW: LADY GAGA - THE REMIX (JAPAN ONLY IMPORT)

Currently available only as a Japanese import, Lady Gaga's The Remix takes her first seven singles (six, if you are in North America) and gives you a condensed 17-track radio edit selection of some noteworthy remixes to-date.  The disc with an über-provocative cover, illustrates the worldwide phenomenon that Lady Gaga has become since debut single Just Dance.

On the disc are an unnecessary three contributions from her own DJ /friend Space Cowboy (Just Dance, Poker Face and LoveGame), plus a RedOne (her co-producer) remix of Just Dance - all which I assume were chosen out of loyalty rather than merit since they have been an instrumental part of her early success.  Die-hard fans though will note some duplications from her Hitmixes EP which was released last September.

Unfortunately, the excellent Jody den Broeder mix of Poker Face has been excluded from the set and I feel this is a glaring discrepancy.  The excellent Pet Shop Boys remix of Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) surfaces here however, which is a huge plus for the otherwise floundering track.  And another interesting choice thrown in the mix here is the Chew Fu Ghettohouse Fix of LoveGame featuring Marilyn Manson.  No sign of the popular Dave Aude remix of the track though.

NEW MUSIC: ALPHABEAT - TELEPHONE/BAD ROMANCE ALPHAMONSTERMASHUP MEDLEY (LADY GAGA COVER)

Danish super-group Alphabeat have just leaked this medley of Telephone/Bad Romance (AlphaMonsterMashUp) originally by Lady Gaga, to commemorate the launch of The Monster Ball World Tour's UK leg.  They were been hand-picked by Gaga herself as the tour's opening act.  The track is featured as Song of the Day at pop music authority PopJustice and rightfully so.

In all honesty, I didn't really enjoy the group's Polydor Records (Universal Music) sophomore effort The Spell nearly as much as their debut This is Alphabeat from EMI. The second album bordered a bit too much on camp to be taken seriously in my opinion, whereas the first album was just the right balance between camp and proper pop. But this right here, is good stuff.  The music takes a bit more of a supporting role behind lead female vocalist Stine Bramsen, who sounds solid. Four minutes of 90sliciousness.

The single is available for those of you in the UK, as a free download in Amazon.com.  Unfortunately though the track is not available internationally.

NEW MUSIC: LADY GAGA - ALEJANDRO/VIDEO PREMIERE: BAD ROMANCE

Things just aren't slowing down for Lady Gaga at all. Her single Paparazzi has topped the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream Chart, good enough to make it number six on the Hot 100 Chart. Simultaneously, latest single Bad Romance also landed in ninth spot on the Hot 100. And just when you thought you couldn't get enough, yet another track has surfaced - Alejandro.

It was just announced last week that original plans to re-release multi-platinum debut The Fame as The Fame Monster, have been modified slightly. Interscope Records will now be releasing Monster separately as a value-priced eight track album, but also keeping The Fame Monster Deluxe Edition option available to fans who haven't bought her debut yet. Times are tough and it is a brilliant move on their part considering the number of blockbuster albums being released on November 24, 2009.

Alejandro gives a nod to Sweden's Ace of Base at their finest. Coincidentally, Lady Gaga tied them with Paparazzi making her only one of four artists ever in the Billboard era to have four number one singles off a debut album. The Latin theme here picks up where Madonna went with La Isla Bonita and where ABBA had gone with Fernando. It is completely theatrical and over-the-top. I love it. I cannot wait to get my hands on this disc.

And of course, don't forget to check out this unbelievable just-released video for Bad Romance below, courtesy of Interscope Records:

The video touches upon the theme of human sex trafficking in Russia and is an outstanding effort from director Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) and once again, Lady Gaga. V. reminiscent of Madonna in her Express Yourself glory.

NEW MUSIC: LADY GAGA - BAD ROMANCE

Thus far I've previewed two new tracks off Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster re-release due November 23, 2009. Despite my irritations with her on-going cry for attention, I cannot deny that the tracks are outright irresistible. Next single Bad Romance is set to be released to radio this week and I cannot describe it any better than esteemed blogger XOLondon did in saying that it is like "Bon Jovi in Ibiza". It really is.

The melody here sounds Bon Jovi circa You Give Love a Bad Name. The type that universally can inspire a stripper to do his/her best work or cause mass havoc in a banquet hall wedding reception after the dessert platter has been brought out. The little speaking bits are Madonna circa Erotica/Bedtime Stories. The arrangement and production would pretty much get a dance floor going anywhere you go in the world and one cannot help but draw parallels to her number one hit Poker Face with its Boney M. referencing "ro ma ro ma ma ma... oh la las". Another track I previewed, Alejandro, will be touched upon later when I receive a full preview copy of The Fame Monster, but I will sum up the track in three words: ACE OF BASE.
