VIDEO PREMIERE: KATY PERRY - "WIDE AWAKE"

Still from Wide Awake
Gorgeous. Have you all checked-out Katy Perry's new Video for Wide Awake? The dark Fairy Tale directed by Tony Datis, cross-promotes her upcoming Documentary, Part of Me 3-D, taking us on a Journey with Perry in her Dressing Room, as she revisits her innocent youth. The section with her looking into the Mirror and the Paparazzi photographing her pretty much sums-up how she feels about the matter, as we saw yesterday here in Toronto.

I must admit I didn't take to the Max Martin/Dr. Luke/Bonnie McKee co-written/produced Track, but even I confess to occasionally blurting-out "I'm wide awake" for no apparent reason now.

The Singer's Cocoon-inspired performance on Sunday night was definitely the Highlight of the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards. "I had no idea I was gonna win an Award after I performed or else I would've put-on more clothes", says Perry upon winning Fave International Artist, on Sunday night.

KATY PERRY: FIRST CONFIRMED 2012 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS PERFORMER

Katy Perry in Toronto - June 2010
Following her epic (and messy) arrival on the 2010 MuchMusic Video Awards Red Carpet, Katy Perry is set to perform again at the 2012 edition of the eagerly-awaited Spectacle. She is the first confirmed Performer thus far this year and according to some Insiders, at this point we're about 70% sure Megastar Justin Bieber also may be appearing too.

Although Perry visited the City last year quickly for her California Dreams Tour, Toronto Fans including myself will remember her 2010 five-day visit as being extremely memorable with her doing several appearances in support of her then-soon-to-be-released Teenage Dream Album.  It was during that visit that I was among the first to listen to her perform the hit Title Track at a taping of Live at Much!  And who could forget that time she came out to greet a large crowd of Fans waiting in front of her Hotel, zipping through them one-by-one?  Or how about her tossing Soft-Serve Ice Cream Cones from an Ice Cream Truck on the MMVAs Red Carpet?  Deliciously terrifying.  Love that.

Perry will be here supporting her upcoming Tour Documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me 3-D - in theatres Thursday, July 5, 2012 via Paramount Pictures.

The 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards are set to air at 9:00 PM EST on Sunday, June 17, 2012.

NEW MUSIC: KATY PERRY - PART OF ME | "TEENAGE DREAM: THE COMPLETE CONFECTION" RELEASE DATE

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection
Those of you who watched the GRAMMYs last night like me, probably remember one of the highlights as being that new Track a blue-haired Katy Perry performed, Part of Me. The Track was released to iTunes today and like her last six Singles - California Gurlz, Teenage Dream, Firework, E.T., Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) and The One That Got Away - should top Billboard Pop Songs Chart.

"This is the part of me that you're never ever gonna take away from me", sings Perry in what sounds like a message to Ex-Husband Russell Brand about not compromising in changing herself for him.  "So you can keep your diamond ring/It don't mean anything anyway".

Part of Me will be featured on the re-release of Perry's triple-Platinum sophomore Disc, titled Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, from EMI Music Canada.  In addition to the new Single, there will be two more new Tracks and versions of her Hits which never have been released before on CD including Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) featuring Missy Elliott, E.T. featuring Kanye West and The One That Got Away (Acoustic Version). Also, there will be a Tommie Sunshine Megamix of Perry's last six number one Hits, plus new Artwork and all the original goodness of Teenage Dream. Cannot wait for this!

Check out the Lyric Video to Part of Me in full below:

VIDEO PREMIERE: KATY PERRY - "THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY"

Still from The One That Got Away
I've got to hand it to Katy Perry. She sure understands the importance of a Music Video and she could v. well have her sixth number one Hit off of Teenage Dream here with The One That Got Away. I honestly never thought much of the Track at all, so I was a bit surprised to hear about plans to release it as a Single. And after seeing this tragic and touching Video which gives us a chance to see Perry's serious side after a string of fun Videos, I totally get it now. Fittingly, it surfaces on Remembrance Day.

A young and old Perry gets a hand from Toronto Director Floria Sigismondi who brought us 2010's amazing The Runaways, and also Mexican Actor Diego Luna whom you might remember from 2008's Milk in which he starred as Sean Penn's Lover.  I love this Video!  And yes, I miss Perry's circa 2008 hair!

KATY PERRY TIES MICHAEL JACKSON RECORD: 5 NUMBER 1 SINGLES FROM 1 ALBUM

Katy Perry & Mr. Will-W.
Congratulations to the beautiful and lovable Katy Perry! Perry has become the first-ever Female Pop Artist to top the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart with five singles from one album. The streak began last Summer with smash Hit California Gurls ft. Snoop Dogg dominating Airwaves and in Digital Sales, followed by Teenage Dream, Firework, E.T. and now Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).

Well-deserved! Not even Gaga can come close with her two recent Singles Judas and The Edge of Glory failing to achieve the success of Born this Way. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) has however, reached the top of the: U.S. Billboard Hot 100, Hot Digital Songs, Pop Songs, Radio Songs, and Hot Dance Club Charts. Oh yeah, and don't forget the Canadian Hot 100 Chart also!

Perry joins the legendary company of Michael Jackson who achieved the same Record back in 1987 with Bad. Jackson’s Singles: I Just Can't Stop Loving You, The Way You Make Me Feel, Bad, Man In The Mirror and Dirty Diana, all reaching number one on the Hot 100.

The 26 year-old will be arriving in Toronto today for two shows at the Air Canada Centre, in addition to a Meet & Greet with Fans who were lucky enough to win after purchasing her new fragrance Purr.

VIDEO PREMIERE: KATY PERRY - LAST FRIDAY NIGHT (T.G.I.F.)

Still from Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)
That Katy!  Although I've hardly been at a Computer all weekend, I did finally get to watch the new Katy Perry Video for Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) and if an Award could be given for Best Ensemble of Cameos in a Music Video, it would totally take the cake!

Watch Perry pay homage to Coming-of-Age Movies of the late '80s, geeking-out in the biggest way possible.  The Video stars also, Kevin McHale and Darren Criss - both in Toronto this past weekend for Glee Live! In Concert! - Corey Feldman, Deborah Gibson, Rebecca Black, Hanson and Kenny G!!  OMG.  Flashback alert!  The fun they must've had filming this.

MR. WILL-W. EXCLUSIVE: KATY PERRY SPOTTED ON THE TRAIN IN NAGOYA, JAPAN

Katy Perry at Nagoya Station - May 2011
Katy Perry took the Shinkansen Bullet Train from Tokyo to Nagoya Station on Sunday morning  - yes, she was on the Train, one of the few places in the World where she can get away with taking Public Transit!  After waking up from a quick hour-long nap, she was greeted by Fans at the Station.  "Without any Make-up on" and a pair of Sunglasses, she used her Pillow to shield herself from Cameras, but before long she got dressed and beautified for Fans, stopping to pose for Photos and signing Autographs.

In need a of a quick Caffeine Buzz, she located a Suntory Vending Machine, grabbing an iced BOSS Cafè au Lait, posing for Photos with it.  The Beverage Giant, equivalent perhaps to Coca Cola in Japan, just got a bit of free Advertising and best be sending over a case or two of that over to Perry's Tokyo Hotel, where she headed back to after this stop-off on her California Dreams Tour.  Perry also has a show slated in Osaka on the Tour's Japanese leg.

Our dear Friend MiT was so kind to scope out the situation and send over some Photos, reporting that she had an amazing time at the Zepp Nagoya show, where Fans even joined Perry on stage at points to hand her Gifts.  That's how they roll in Asia - not like us North American Fans who consistently arrive empty-handed.

NEW MUSIC: KATY PERRY - LAST FRIDAY NIGHT (TGIF)

Fun! Katy Perry unleashes a set of Remixes for her next Single Last Friday Night (TGIF) which I would’ve thought she’d release sooner, but alas it gets a Summer release. Listen to Perry sing about getting so drunk she doesn't remember whether or not she had a Ménage-a-Trois.

I’m almost certain this will be another number Billboard Hot 100 Chart-topper for her after already garnering four consecutive chart-toppers on sophomore Disc Teenage Dream.  You’ve also gotta love the geeked-out Cover Art also which although I hate to say it, has her looking like… Roger Ebert? Don’t hate me! LOL

VIDEO PREMIERE: KATY PERRY FT. KANYE WEST - E.T.

Still from Katy Perry's E.T. Video
Wow! Although it wasn’t one of my favourite tracks off of Teenage Dream, they’ve managed to make this one rather exciting. Katy Perry just premiered her new Video for E.T., her fourth consecutive Single to reach the top of the U.S Billboard Hot 100 Chart, dethroning Lady Gaga’s Born this Way after her six-week reign. Toronto Director/Artist Floria Sigismondi helmed the Video, going back to her Music Video roots after much acclaim with her 2010 Film The Runaways.

E.T. is an über-expensive looking Sci-Fi Odyssey/Love Story which has a barely recognizable Perry bringing her Alien Lover to life with a kiss. Above this she actually v. ably acts in the Clip, a pre-cursor to her upcoming appearance in Sony PicturesThe Smurfs. And oh yeah, a certain Rapper appears in this re-vamped Radio Edit.

NEW MUSIC: CAST OF GLEE - FIREWORK

After much anticipation, Lea Michele’s version of Katy Perry’s Firework has finally surfaced! The track which will be appearing on tomorrow night’s Valentine’s Day episode of Glee is pretty much identical to its original. Nonetheless, Michele still does a stellar job and I’m sure Perry is just excited to hear it, being the huge Glee Fan she is.

Give it a listen below (audio content owned by: Sony Music).

Swedish Pop sensation Robyn who seems to be getting love everywhere but North America on wide scale, will be opening for Perry at select dates throughout the Tour.  You're getting two shows for the price of one as I've seen both Perry and Robyn live and they're both wonderful.  Really sweet Girls who love their Fans.

KATY PERRY MAKES IT THREE NUMBER ONES IN A ROW

Katy Perry in Toronto, June 2010
Some girls work their whole lives to get a number one Hit. Some girls get three in a row. Katy Perry dominates the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart this week with her third single Firework off her just-Grammy-nominated album Teenage Dream. The last Female Artist to be able to accomplish three consecutive number ones is Monica from 1998-1999 with The Boy is Mine (ft. Brandy), The First Night and Angel of Mine. But note that Perry accomplished this in less time and in six months.

Although I hate to brag, I knew all along Perry's success would be meteoric upon first previewing tracks off Teenage Dream this past June.  Meeting Perry in-person was an experience I will never forget as I'm sure with her popularity having spiked so much recently, everyone will be trying to get to her next time she visits.  A sweet, lovable and hard-working girl - her success is well deserved.

NEW MUSIC: CAST OF GLEE - TEENAGE DREAM

Still from Never Been Kissed episode of Glee
For those of you who can't get enough of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream, you will be able to hear it with the Glee Makeover on next Tuesday's Never Been Kissed episode. This will be the much-talked about episode where Kurt (Chris Colfer) meets potential lover Blaine (Darren Criss), whose vocals are featured on the song. I love this version and I'm sure Perry would approve.

VIDEO PREMIERE: KATY PERRY - FIREWORK

Still from Katy Perry's Firework
CAUTION: Stand back 30 metres! Newlywed Katy Perry has managed to fit in a Video Premiere somewhere between her Wedding and her Honeymoon, unleashing her new video for Firework. Shot in Budapest, the video captures the energy and essence of being young and carefree, pretty much consistent with her previous two tracks California Gurls and Teenage Dream.

Although the video was released yesterday, EMI has placed regional restrictions on the video, not allowing those of us in Canada to see the video yet on VEVO. MSN Canada however has gotten the exclusive for us and you can now watch the video on their site here!

KATY PERRY "FIREWORK" VIDEO PREVIEW

I adore Katy Perry and despite her biggest critics claiming that she lacks longevity, four number one singles in two years is hardly your One Hit Wonder. Sure, she might not boast the big Touring Box Office numbers or the Soundscan tallies of contemporaries like Lady Gaga, but 2010 has been all about Katy Perry and she's well earned her success.

Perry posted a Preview Teaser Video recently for the third single (and her favourite track) off monster sophomore effort Teenage Dream, Firework, which features lyrics and stills from the forthcoming Video. The festive video directed by Dave Meyers, was shot in Budapest and even features a shot of two young men kissing, which people hopefully won't have a Heart Attack over. The single will be made available commercially on October 26, 2010 although there has yet to be a confirmation to when the Video will premiere.

VIDEO: KATY PERRY - HOT 'N' COLD ON SESAME STREET

...aww! Isn't this cute? Katy Perry just posted this duet of her and Elmo from her forthcoming New Year's Eve appearance on the historic Sesame Street. She re-vamps her smash hit Hot 'n' Cold here as a love letter to Elmo who refuses simply to play Dress-Up with her.

Of course, the clip has caused an outrage among concerned parents who deemed Perry's cleavage a little too racy for their children. What do you think?

Perry by the way who reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 last week with latest single Teenage Dream, slips to number four on this week's chart, which was usurped by Bruno Mars' Just the Way You Are.

WIN A COPY OF KATY PERRY'S TEENAGE DREAM!

Words cannot express how proud I am of my girl Katy Perry as she continues her ascencion to Pop Icon status.  In two years, she's scored three number one singles and now is on her way to a fourth chart-topper with Teenage Dream being the most downloaded song on iTunes right now.  Expect her album, released yesterday, to be on-top with upwards of 200,000 copies sold in next week's Billboard Hot 200 according to sales tracker Hits Daily Double.

Perry was on Letterman last night and delivered a solid rendition of her current single with a full band and just looks amazing.

EMI Music Canada and Mr. Will-W.:Pop Maven want you to celebrate her success by giving away a copy of Teenage Dream to one lucky reader!  To enter, leave a comment with the name of any track off her new album before August 31, 2010 midnight.  All are welcome to enter. Hurry!

KATY PERRY - TEENAGE DREAM ALBUM REVIEW

Despite having had two mega-hits already, Katy Perry's long-awaited sophomore effort Teenage Dream doesn't quite fulfill the promise those two brilliant singles hint at. Please don't get me wrong, I love Katy Perry and in her very brief career to-date, she has already contributed so much to the face of Pop Music as we know it. Having three number one singles in just two years' time is a proud achievement.

Where Teenage Dream suffers though, is its lack of consistency and this is the problem when working with an array of in-demand producers, plating the seeds of creativity across the land of Pop. Dr. Luke and Max Martin have a wonderful working chemistry with Perry and they are responsible for the best of the set. The album's title track and California Gurls (ft. Snoop Dogg) we all know are just sublime, and Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) will undoubtedly find chart success with its carefree California sunshine, recalling "skinnydipping in the dark... then having a menage-a-trois"; and it's about time the under-utilized Saxophone made a resurgence again as heard here in its breakdown.

VIDEO: KATY PERRY - TEENAGE DREAM

At long last I've found a version of this video which can be streamed outside the U.S. I was beginning to think EMI had something against Canada! Katy Perry's Teenage Dream is the ultimate end of summer song. Enjoy this 3:50 minutes of steamy, wet goodness (courtesy of EMI Music).

KATY PERRY TEENAGE DREAM VIDEO SNEAK PREVIEW

OMG.  I can't stop listening to this song and neither can you guys!  Katy Perry's new single Teenage Dream is already at number twenty on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.  Mind you, the charting period ended just one day after the song was released on iTunes.  The song was also the Most Added track on Pop Radio last week, with a total of 87 stations adding it to their Playlists.  Expect it to be near the top, if not at top spot next week.

I am completely obsessed with Perry right now and find it totally cute that she put together this YouTube video featuring Stills from her Music Video with Sing-a-Long Lyrics because the video can't be released quite yet.  But loving her fans so much, she's showing as much as she can (literally and figuratively) on this clip in the meantime.  Enjoy!  She looks gorgeous, yes?  And that v. good looking man in the video is actor Josh Kloss, in case you wanted to peruse Google Images for whatever reasons of a personal nature.
