GEMMA ARTERTON & JEREMY RENNER CAST IN "HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTER"

Gemma Arterton and Oscar-nominated Actor Jeremy Renner are confirmed to star in Paramount Pictures' upcoming twist on The Brothers Grimm's classic Hansel and Gretel.  According to Entertainment Weekly, the upcoming Fantasy Film, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters picks-up with the Siblings as adults, having escaped the Evil Witch who captured them as children. 

Previously, Noomi Rapace from the popular Swedish franchise The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was considered also for the role of Gretel but it was lovely and kind-hearted Brit Arterton who proved victorious in the end.  This should be a huge breakout role for the actress who appears on-the-verge of something big.

Will Ferrell among others, will be in the Producer's Chair, while Norwegian Director Tommy Wirkola will be helming the project.

"THE TOURIST" FALLS SHORT AS "NARNIA" SOARS; "BLACK SWAN" AND "THE FIGHTER" WOW AT BOX OFFICE

Yikes. Despite high hopes for Sony Pictures' seemingly sure-fire hit The Tourist starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, Deadline reports that the Action-Drama looks like it will only bring in about $18.5 million. Keep in mind though that despite its in Wide Release, it is showing on only 2,756 Screens compared to this Weekend's expected Box Office Champion Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of Dawn Teader 3-D. The latest in the series of Children's Book adaptations likely will pull in $28.5 million by end of day Sunday.  Reviews for both are mixed to negative according to Critical aggregate Rotten Tomaotes.

Last week's top Film Disney's Tangled 3-D pulled in $3.4 million last night, which will place it in third overall with $14.5 million approximately. Surprisingly still in-the-money is Christina Aguilera and Cher's  Burlesque, which likely will  pull-in $3.2 million in by end of Weekend; good enough to land it in sixth but still not enough to recoup its $55 million spent in production costs.

All eyes are Fox Searchlight's Black Swan which continues to wow. Expanding only to 90 theatres yesterday, it still brought in $925k. Expect it to place in eighth with $3 million. 

Boiling under is The Fighter which premiered last night in New York City with Amy Adams and Mark Wahlberg in attendance, earning a stellar $90k from just four theatres as the "Irish" Mickey Ward-centered Biopic debuted in Limited Release. Expect big things as buzz is feverish and don't forget to check back tomorrow for pics from its Toronto Premiere right here.

DISNEY'S "TANGLED 3-D" CLIMBS TO #1 AT BOX OFFICE

It was a tight finish at the Box Office this weekend with Disney's Tangled 3-D coming out on-top, a rarity in that it debuted at number two Thanksgiving Weekend behind Warner Bros.' Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows.  The updated spin on The Brothers Grimm's Rapunzel brought in $21.5 million from 3,603 theatres.  Harry Potter's latest installment continues to go strong in its third week of release, with $16.7 million from 4,125 theatres.

Surprisingly, Burlesque also experienced a bit of a spike, landing in third spot this weekend with $6.3 million, bringing its total to $27 million for Sony Screen Gems.   Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal's Love and Other Drugs in its second week brought in $6 million, good enough to place it in fifth spot.

Due Date in its fifth week is hanging tough in seventh spot this weekend, bringing in $4.1 million, bringing its total gross just past the $90 million mark domestically - a profitable venture for its studio.

The only other debut in this weekend's Top Ten was Relativity Media's The Warrior's Way which brought in $2.6 million from 1,622 theatres.

All eyes however, are on the big Oscar contenders which are still bubbling-under in Limited Release.  Fox Searchlight has a strong pair in 127 Hours and Black Swan.  The former brought in a decent $500,000 from 433 theatres, although the real success story for the studio is the latter, which from only 18 theatres earned $1.4 million.  Meanwhile The Weinstein Co.'s Best Picture candidate The King's Speech earned $85,000 from a paltry six theatres, enough to keep that buzz afloat.  And after a prolonged wait, Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor's Gay-themed Romantic Comedy I Love Your, Phillip Morris finally surfaced in six theatres with $30,000 earned.

What are you guys seeing this weekend? Well, Moviegoers have been pretty clear this U.S. Thanksgiving Weekend that it's all about Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows or Disney's Tangled 3-D. Both have been performing extremely well at the Box Office - the former estimated to bring in $81 million this five day-Holiday in its second week and the latter expected to pull in $70 million in its debut.  It is projected they will account for an easy one-two on the tally.

Many eyes are on Sony Screen Gems' Burlesque which I am sorry to say is under-performing, expected to garner $17 million over the five day-weekend. Not even the Buying Power of Gays and Girls could save this one it seems that it likely will mark a big loss for the Studio, which spent over $50 million on Production alone.  Likely, it will place fourth of fifth overall this weekend.

With the distinction of being their 50th Animated Feature, Disney's Tangled 3-D from Directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, is a re-imagination of the classic Fairytale Rapunzel by The Brothers Grimm. Enhanced with some modern sensibilities and some intricately detailed-CGI, Children and Adults have something exciting to be excited about.

Gifted with long, magically healing locks, baby Princess Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) is kidnapped and raised in a life of solitude by Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy), whose youthful looks are dependent solely on the powers which radiate from her hair. Devilishly handsome Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) is a Thief who happens to steal the Tiara which rightfully belongs to Rapunzel. He betrays the Stabbington Brothers (Ron Perlman), escaping with their coveted find and as a result, Flynn is a wanted man. As fate would have it though, coincidentally he finds safety in Rapunzel's Tower while fleeing from the Stabbington Brothers.

Mother Gothel and Rapunzel are experiencing strains in their Mother-Daughter relationship. Approaching her 18th birthday, Rapunzel feels repressed by her Mother's oppressive ways, not being allowed to go out and see the World. Her only dream is to be able to witness the Festival of Floating Lanterns, an annual event held by her birth parents in hopes of one day being brought back together with their daughter; Rapunzel however, is oblivious to the true meaning of the Festival but does find it odd that it is held every year on her Birthday.

After realizing that she will never be granted her greatest wish of being emancipated, Rapunzel sends Mother Gothel on the task of locating Sea Shells to be made into Paint as her Birthday Gift, as this is one of the few things she is allowed to enjoy in life. This buys Rapunzel some time to coax Flynn whom she imprisons secretly with her hair, persuading him to take her to see the Festival while her Mother is away. As both Flynn and Rapunzel spend time with one another, their attraction grows stronger despite their v. different values. Will Rapunzel be able to escape the wrath of evil Mother Gothel, who is unbudging in keeping her all to herself? Will Flynn avoid being captured for his crimes and are his feelings for Rapunzel true or does he have ulterior motives? And most of all, will Rapunzel ever be able to break free and live life on her own terms, reuniting with her true parents?

MANDY MOORE IN TORONTO TO PROMOTE DISNEY'S "TANGLED 3-D"

Here in town to promote Disney's 50th ever animated feature film Tangled 3-D, Mandy Moore arrived yesterday from Florida to do a round of Press today in Toronto. Stop-offs scheduled include appearances on CHUM-FM's Morning Show and BT on CityTV with the lovely Dina Pugliese.

Moore was spotted Downtown on Victoria St., stopping quickly to say "hi" to fans and signing a couple autographs. In a bit of a rush, she apologized for not being able to spend more time and thanked Fans for waiting in the cold.

The 26 year-old Singer, Songwriter, Model and Actress has been quiet of late, last having released an album in 2009 via Sony Music titled Amanda Leigh. She also had a brief stint on ABC series Grey's Anatomy earlier this year. It was also announced recently that the tall and slender Moore will be starring opposite Twilight's Kellan Lutz in upcoming feature First Love, Then Marriage.

Disney's Tangled 3-D appears to be garnering some strong reviews with Variety's Justin Chang and The Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy both praising it. Moore voices kidnapped Princess Rapunzel, who meets a thief named Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi); he helps her escape evil Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy). The film opens in theatres next Wednesday, November 24, 2010.
