"THE SMURFS 3-D" AND "COWBOYS & ALIENS" BATTLE TOOTH AND NAIL

Still from The Smurfs 3-D
Critics hated them both but Moviegoers loved them both equally... one just a little more than the other.  In one of the tightest finishes at the Box Office in recent memory, Universal Pictures' Cowboys and Aliens, starring Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig, fought tooth and nail to edge out The Smurfs 3-D with $36.4 million.  The former  was panned by Critics with a 44% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the latter equally was torn to shreds with an 18% consensus on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer. The Motion Picture based on those lovable blue creatures who many in the '80s grew-up watching, earned $35.6 million for Sony Pictures.

Last week's champion Captain America: The First Avenger slips to third spot with $25 million in its second week, bringing its tally to $110 million in North America.  The Marvel adaptation was made for $140 million.

Warner Bros.' Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 finished just ahead in fourth of another Film from the studio, Crazy Stupid Love. The Rom-Com perhaps had the misfortune of opening on a busy weekend, but it still debuts in a dignified fifith with $18.6 million.  This one looks to be a stayer with many positive reviews pouring in.

Friends with Benefits in its second week, slips to sixth spot with $9.3 million for Sony Pictures, earning $38 million total thus far, just making back its $35 million invested in production costs.

Rounding out the Top Ten is Disney's Cars 2, with $2.5 million earned this weekend.  To-date the Film has made $354 million worldwide in six weeks.

"CAPTAIN AMERICA" SAVES THE BOX OFFICE

Still from Captain America
Captain America not only saves the World, but also the Box Office coming out on top this weekend with an impressive $65.5 million opening, proving that Chris Evans too can be a bankable Leading Man. This result exceeds Paramount Pictures' expectations that the Marvel Comics adaptation would make approximately $60 million. Reviews have been fairly positive, garnering 73% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomotometer.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 continues to go strong in second week with $48 million this weekend. The entire Franchise just surpassed the $7 billion mark worldwide before the weekend began.

Sony Pictures' Friends with Benefits underwhelms with only $18.7 million in its debut much due in part to its timing of release going up against two Box Office monsters. On the upside, Critics appear to like the Rom-Com, coming in with 70% on the Tomatometer and I must say, I actually loved it!

Transformers: Dark of the Moon slips to fourth spot in this its fourth week of release $12.5 million, just ahead of Horrible Bosses in fifth which impressively was earned over $82 million it its three-week run.

Bad Teacher hangs onto the Top Ten in ninth spot with $2.5 million, putting it just-shy of the $100 million mark in its fifth week and believe it or not, Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris is still in the Top Ten, rounding it all out with $2 million.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE SPOTTED IN TORONTO

Justin Timberlake at TIFF 2005
Despite his new Comedy Friends with Benefits being out in a couple weeks, Justin Timberlake's reason for stay in Toronto doesn't appear so much to be business-related.  The Singer/Songwriter/Actor/Multimedia Mogul arrived in the City over the weekend without the flash of a Camera, and was spotted in and around Yorkville earlier today doing a bit of shopping at Whole Foods.  Little did he know though that he had crossed paths with Hugh Jackman (spotted yesterday) who reportedly was working out at The Yorkville Club, also situated in Hazelton Lanes.

Perhaps his being spotted on Sunday with on again/off again/on again(?) partner Jessica Biel via her Kensington Market Food Shop The Good Egg, is an indication just why he might be here?  And while we're on the topic of eggs, perhaps they're re-Kinder Surprising their romance?

Apparently they refused to divulge information to US Weekly,  but they had no qualms sharing juicy details for free with their Twitter Followers.  "Privacy is important", says GoodEggChick:

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE & LADY GAGA ON "SNL" | "IT'S NOT GAY WHEN IT'S IN A THREE-WAY"

Justin Timberlake hosts Saturday Night Live
Although it's sad to see another season of Saturday Night Live end, at least last night's Finale was a memorable one.  Host Justin Timberlake was joined not only by Lady Gaga as a Musical Guest, but also appeared alongside her on three Sketches.  And how about that Cameo from our favourite Sex Symbol Bradley Cooper, who I interviewed last week here.
Timberlake fully combined his talents to bring out the laughs whether it be dancing in a Beer costume in  a Drink-off against Kristen Wiig in a Tea Bag get-up, or singing with Andy Samberg in a continuation of their Mother Lover Digital Short series.  In the latter Musical Clip, both Timberlake and Samberg together with Gaga, sang about the sexy joys of a Threesome.  "It's not Gay when it's in a three-way", they proclaim - at one point parodying two Jacks and one Chrissy in an homage to Three's Company!

And despite promising not to sing, so to let Gaga have her moment, he still went into song and dance during his introduction, at one point serenading a lucky Woman in the audience on bended knee.

You absolutely must watch Gaga, Samberg and Timberlake's Digital Short below.  So hot!

MACAULAY CULKIN & MILA KUNIS CONFIRM SPLIT

Macaulay Culkin & Mila Kunis
Who even knew they were together?  Actors Macaulay Culkin and Mila Kunis have confirmed their split after having dated for seven years.  The New York Post broke the story earlier today on its famous Page Six Gossip.  Kunis' Publicist confirms they had split while she was busy promoting Black Swan and it is "amicable".

The Couple managed to remain v. low-key about their relationship and the above Photo of them captured at Michael Jackson's funeral June 2009, is one of the few times they were snapped together.  Kunis opened up about dating Culkin last fall in an interview with BlackBook Magazine: "I don't remember being single. I love coming home, taking a bath and having a glass of wine. I love my life." They had worked together on the animated series Robot Chicken.

Clearly, people are as surprised as I am, with Culkin lighting up Twitter as the number two Trending Topic.  Kunis can be seen next in this year's Friends with Benefits alongside Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz, while Culkin will be seen next in indie flick Service Man which is now in Pre-production.
