MARK RONSON FT. KATY B - "ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD" (COCA-COLA LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS SONG)

Still from Anywhere in the World
In the event you've been remotely close to a Television during the Olympics, you likely have heard this Song being played every commercial break. Coca-Cola has chosen hot British Talents Mark Ronson (Adele, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse) and Internet Sensation/Student of Popular Music Katy B for Anywhere in the World, the official Track of their London 2010 Olympics Campaign.

Ronson's super-interesting Journey to creating the Track is documented on-Video and shows him visiting Olympic Athletes in-training, capturing and listening to the sounds of them practicing, incorporating it all into one multi-dimensional listening experience.

After listening to a quick Snippet of the Track on TV, you can enjoy the Track in-full below:

REVIEW: MARK RONSON & THE BUSINESS INTL - RECORD COLLECTION

Mark Ronson, what happened? After much anticipation for his third studio album Record Collection, I am hard-pressed to find just one track I like genuinely off the set - which is odd considering how fantastic his last effort Version was. Perhaps it's the lack of coherency which can occur on an album filled to the brim with "featured" billings or it's the more minimalistic production here, but Record Collection isn't quite what I was expecting.

First single Bang Bang Bang (ft. MNDR and Q-Tip) which ventures back a bit to the ghettos of New York City in the late '80s and second release The Bike Song (ft. Kyle Falconer and Spank Rock) revisits the psychadelic '60s; both have garnered lukewarm response only. Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters)-penned You Gave Me Nothing is a bit like of an homage to Pet Shop Boys and melodically is heads and shoulders above others on the set. It features the vocals Andrew Wyatt and Rose Elinor Dougall of The Pipettes, who surface throughout the album in this teaming of friends at the studio.

Glass Mountain (ft. D'Angelo) is a surprise collaboration which on paper should be really exciting, but amounts in a jarring sequence of synth loops and soulful wailing; a lacklustre experiment. Introducing The Business (ft. Pill and London Gay Men's Choir) could have been a wonderfully fun collaboration, but alas it falls flat in its own introspective moodiness, as does Somebody to Love Me (ft. Boy George and Andrew Wyatt). Title track Record Collection (ft. Simon LeBon of Duran Duran and Wiley) has some semblance of a melody and a hook but alas, is uninspired.

NME SHOCKWAVE AWARDS

NME Magazine's Shockwave Awards were held at 02 Brixton Academy in London, bringing out an interesting mix of characters. Among those in attendance were Elly Jackson from La Roux, Lily Allen, Courtney Love, Mark Ronson, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ke$ha and many, many more.

Jackson, won for single In for the Kill in the category of Best Dancefloor Filler and donned this Amish-meets-Run DMC look which totally worked for her. I challenge you to find any other pop star in this day and age who can pull off adrogyny like her.  I have had the pleasure of meeting her on the Toronto leg of her tour last summmer.  She was an absolute sweetheart - full of hugs and gratitude - despite appearing seemingly standoffish.  Read all about it here.

Lady Gaga also won both Best and Worst Dressed Awards, effectively cancelling each other out, at the ceremony; she wasn't in attendance.  Check out some MR.WILL-W.:POP MAVEN faves Lily Allen, Mark Ronson and Ke$ha arrive on the red carpet below:

MARK RONSON RECORDS THE LONDON GAY MEN'S CHORUS FOR NEW ALBUM

Quite possibly the most stylish and handsome DJ/producer in the business, Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Adele, Lily Allen and Daniel Merriweather) brought back a '60s re-birth which dominated our iPods a couple years ago.  Although quiet of late, he is hard at work on his third album The Business which will be released later this year once again featuring an exciting array of guest vocalists.  His sophomore effort Version released through Sony Music in 2007 was impeccable and if you haven't heard it, it's a must-have must-own.

Ronson, voted UK's most stylish man in 2009 by GQ Magazine, just released this photo below from the studio setting up a recording session for the London Gay Men's Chorus on his Twitter page.  According to him, "all it takes is 40 headphones a few mics" to record them.  I'm assuming this means that they are lower maintenance than some of his tabloid-gracing collaborators?  Can't wait to hear the results.
