DAIRY QUEEN SETS GUINESS WORLD RECORD FOR LARGEST ICE CREAM CAKE IN TORONTO

Record-setting Dairy Queen OREO Blizzard Ice Cream Cake
Congratulations, Dairy Queen for accomplishing its mission or assembling the world's largest-ever Ice Cream Cake at Yonge-Dundas Square yesterday. The occasion marked the 25th Birthday of the Blizzard Cake for the popular Franchise. And the people of Guiness World Records were on-hand to certify it.

According to a Press Release, "With more than 20,000 pounds of ice cream, over 200 pounds of sponge cake, more than 300 pounds of icing and OREO crumble, the Cake took 100 DQ (Dairy Queen) experts 14 hours to complete.".  The final weigh-in according to Guiness was 22,333.6 lbs.

I so wish I could've had a taste!

21,000-LB DAIRY QUEEN ICE CREAM CAKE TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN TORONTO

Dairy Queen's OREO Ice Cream Cake
Dairy Queen will be attempting to set a Guiness World Record and Toronto will play host to the historic event. Yonge-Dundas Square will be undergoing a deep freeze on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 as a 21,000 pound Ice Cream Cake, modelled after Dairy Queen's signature OREO Blizzard Cake, is to be constructed on-site.

A record was set previously by Carvel with 12,096 pounds of Ice Cream Cake being constructed at New York City's Union Square Park in 2004.

The Celebration and serving of the Cake takes place from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, with its construction beginning in the morning.  There will be plenty to go around so let's help spread the word, Mavenati!

SickKids Hospital Collectors will be there to accept your generous donations, so don't forget to bring some cash along with that Sweet Tooth!
