Although it sadly won’t be premiering at TIFF 2011, Roman Polanski’s eagerly-awaited new Film Carnage with its impeccable Cast of Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, John C. Reilly and Christoph Waltz, just surfaced today... and it actually looks funnier than imagined. Nothing like seeing a bunch of Adults acting like Kids – Oscar-winning/nominated Adults above that!

December 16, 2011 has been pegged as the Limited Release date in select cities. Cannot wait!

You could cut the tension with a Butter Knife. Check out some of these new stills from Roman Polanski's adaptation of the play God of Carnage, simply titled Carnage. Sony Pictures Classics releases the Drama about two Couples who decide to sit down and have a rational discussion after their Children have a fight at school.  Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly and Christoph Waltz star in quite possibly the most perfect Ensemble Cast ever assembled.

There's some TIFF buzz on this one - crossing fingers we'll see this one in Toronto this September! I'll be first to line-up to get tickets!  A release date is still to be confirmed.

Roman Polanski has been tapped to direct a screen adaption of Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage starring an all-star cast of Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Matt Dillon and Christoph Waltz.  Can somebody just hand them the Oscars in all the acting and directing categories now?  Unbeatable.  Perhaps with a bit of CGI and a wig, I too can play one of the children in the film?

The play which is set in Brooklyn but to be filmed in Paris due to Polanski's never-ending legal problems in the U.S., is about two couples whose children get into a fight at a park.  They decide to meet-up to discuss the matter like adults but soon find themselves engaging in a heated battle, not unlike their children.  God of Carnage garnered three Tony Awards based on its brief Broadway run mid-2009 and originally starred James Gandolfini, Marcia Gay-Harden, Hope Davis and Jeff Daniels.  Filming begins for Polanski's adaption early 2011.

REVIEW: THE GHOST WRITER

Roman Polanski's latest work The Ghost Writer is a social commentary on the British government's subordination to the U.S. government.  Ewan McGregor plays The Ghost, an unnamed character hired based on the lack of his political knowledge to Ghost Write a memoir for former British Prime Minister Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan).  It is because his lack of political knowledge that The Ghost convinces his publisher that he will be able to ask the questions everybody will want to know, getting to the heart of the matter.

Lang however, is accused of having committed War Crimes, as he is believed to have ordered the torturing of suspected terrorists.  This causes disruptions in the writing process, while also peaking The Ghosts' curiosity to why it is that Lang got involved with politics to begin with as upon researching his earlier years, he was anything by political as a Theatre student. The Ghost while staying at Lang's home, stumbles upon information gathered by a previous Ghost Writer, who had died suspiciously while working on the same memoir.  He then discovers various points of contact along the way who help him fit together the missing pieces to the puzzle and his loyalties are then questioned.  At the same time, he realizes also that he is being pursued as this memoir is highly sought after for its possibly incriminating information.  Is The Ghost working for a War Criminal?  More importantly, will he make it out of this alive? And what's up with Lang's creepy wife Ruth (Olivia Williams)?

THE PRIVATE LIFE OF ROMAN POLANSKI

As many of us are aware, Oscar-winning filmmaker Roman Polanski was arrested this past weekend in Switzerland en route to accepting an honorary award at the Zurich Film Festival. He was arrested on an American warrant for a statutory rape charge from 32 years ago. The victim, Samantha Geimer clearly has moved on with her life and has forgiven Polanski publicly. Polanski eventually pled guilty to unlawful sex with a minor and served a 42 day sentence in a California prison already. It was after this that the judge who was overseeing the case decided to renege on the plea bargain that was originally agreed upon. And then his Great American Escape ensued. Is something not adding up here?

My question is this, why is the Los Angeles District Attorney's office out to re-punish the man? I am not of the opinion that Polanski's past actions are acceptable, but I am also not of the opinion that his openly acknowledged preference for "younger women" is anyone's business, nor does that make him a bad person or unfit to be a filmmaker. We do not have the right to scrunitinze public figures based on their sexual preferences and furthermore, discredit them publicly because of this. We all have naughty toys in the closet; no exemptions.
