| Donald Glover in Toronto - May 2011 |
28 year-old Actor/Writer/Rapper/DJ Donald Glover received a warm welcome to our "community" today on his visit to Toronto. The Star of NBC's Community in which he plays Football Player Troy Barnes is enjoying a bit of downtime right now, focusing on his Music - the main reason for his visit to the City. As a Rapper, he goes by the name Childish Gambino.
Due to being under-the-weather, Glover unfortunately had to cancel an appearance on CBC's Q Radio this morning with Jian Ghomeshi, which later was announced to be postponed until tomorrow. Despite being ill, Glover was undeterred from pleasing his avid Toronto Fans. He still went ahead to play a sold-out show at the historic Opera House this evening as part of his IAMDONALD Tour, performing selections from his earlier repertoire and latest untitled EP, released this March.
Additional stopoffs on the Los Angeles native's Press Tour today included appearances on CBC's George Stroumboulopoulous Tonight and MuchMusic's New.Music.Live, where he performed his latest Single, Freaks and Geeks with his Guitarist for the young audience.
I caught Glover - no relation to Danny - on his way out of New.Music.Live as he rushed into his Town Car. Despite being in a rush, he was kind enough to stop and pose in the rain before heading off. Much to my surprise, he looks even younger in person!
