Although it's been some years since his last visit to Toronto, Thespian/Writer/Footy Enthusiast/Humanitarian Stephen Fry has made a rare visit to the City straight from London. He will be presenting the ninth annual Glenn Gould Prize, known as "The Nobel Prize of the Arts" at the Telus Centre for the Performing Arts on Friday morning. Fry sits in on the Jury for the Prize, alongside the likes of Canadian Filmmaker Atom Egoyan.

In addition to being known for his critically acclaimed performances as a Television and Theatre Actor in the UK, he is known best in these parts for his work in Films like Gosford Park, Wilde, Stormbreakers and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland 3-D. An openly-Gay Fry is an advocate for Mental Health and HIV/AIDS. His influence online is indisputable and on Twitter alone, he has more than 2.4 million Followers. That's almost more than Tyra Banks.

Fry did a round of Press today including a visit to CBC for an interview with Jian Ghomeshi on Q Radio and also a taping of George Stroumboulopoulous Tonight.

Recognized uniformly by all Fans-in-waiting as being absolutely lovely, Fry signed Autographs and took Photos with Fans alike without holding back. His Handler was sweet enough even to take a Photo of us , with her reacting to the lightening fast shutter speed of my Olympus E-PL2 (courtesy of Media Profile). Fry told me he appreciated me rushing down to see him after work with a sincere-sounding "Awwww".

Fry admitted to me one on one that he is absolutely obsessed with the smell of Sharpies and jokingly began sniffing a Blue Sharpie repeatedly while chatting with me, telling me that he needed help. Hilarious.
