Two Canadian Icons agree on one important matter - Spring will be coming early this year! In these parts at least.
The annual Wiarton Willie Festival was held in Wiarton, Ontario earlier today where the Town's local Mascot made his annual appearance. Failing to see his own shadow, it was declared by Town Crier Bruce Kruger, that Spring will be arriving early. Should the adorable white Groundhog have seen his own shadow, this would have predicted a longer Winter. Yay!

Contrary to popular perception, Willie does not live underground. He is actually domesticated and goes for annual Check-ups just like our Dogs and Cats do.
A similar prediction was made today in Nova Scotia where equally adorable brown Groundhog Shubenacadie Sam predicted too that Spring would be coming early this year.
Despite the Blizzard which has shut down much of Southwestern Ontario today, I wish you all a safe and happy Groundhog Day!
