GLEE: THE MUSIC, VOLUME 4 REVIEW

Glee: The Music, Volume 4 has descended upon us already and come to think of it, we're only part way through Season Two of the wildly successful Musical Comedy series. Have we had enough of it yet?  Nope.

This Collection of tracks is stupendous, recalling many fond memories we've shared with the Kids at William McKinley High including: Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys' Empire State of Mind, Britney Spears' Stronger, Katy Perry's Teenage Dream, Cee Lo's Forget You (ft. Gwyneth Paltrow), Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes' (I've Had) The Time of My Life, Amy Winehouse's Valerie  and a Bruno Mars one-two punch of Marry You and Just the Way You Are.  Actually, make that a Quadruple Dropkick if you consider that Mars also co-wrote Billionaire and Forget You on this 18-track Disc.  When they make it look this good, why even bother downloading the tracks on iTunes, when just a bit of patience will get you this bit of Pop Gold?

What makes this Set jive so well, as opposed to earlier Volumes, is that the tracks are cohesively Pop and a vast majority of the songs are current.  Even when not the case as in Joan Osbourne's One of Us, Bob Marley's One Love and Tina Turner's River Deep, Mountain High, enough revisions are made to keep things fresh.

Kudos to Adam Anders and Peer Astrom who oversee the Show's Musical Direction, proving once again why perhaps it is that Swedes know American Pop better than Americans do.  Although Volumes 2 and 3 of Glee: The Music might have been by-passable, you cannot skimp out on this latest installment.  A perfect Christmas Gift for that Gleek in your life.  Sony Music's Glee: The Music, Volume 4 is now in stores.  Grade: A+
