NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (2010) DEBUTS HUGE

Although it is an unnecessary release, Warner Bros./New Line Cinema's Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) is expected to debut huge this weekend.  Based on early numbers from last night, the horror remake brought in a whopping $15.8 million alone, which is more than many movies make on an opening weekend. It is expected to pull in $32 million this weekend.

Of course, the film is being trashed by critics, receiving an appauling 15% rating on critical consensus site Rotten Tomatoes.  The plus side is that the deliciously creepy Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children, Shutter Island) is getting the exposure he deserves, although I have a feeling these monster numbers are from girls clamouring to see blonde Twilight hunk Kellan Lutz and his body o'steel.  Did any of you see it yet?  Is it that bad?

May is going to be a huge month for Warner Bros./New Line as Sex and The City 2 is already selling out by the theatre-full weeks before its May 27th release.

  1. I heard Kellen's not even in it for that long...

I <3 horror movies, especially campy ones, but I'm afraid I'll be let down with this one, so I'm leery about spending the $15 to see it. :\
