"THE COLONY" STARRING LAURENCE FISHBURNE & KEVIN ZEGERS TO FILM IN TORONTO

Although originally there was talk of it back in 2008, Director/Writer Jeff Renfroe finally will begin production on his Sci-Fi/Thriller The Colony. Starring Laurence Fishburne and Toronto's v. own Kevin Zegers, the Film begins filming at the end of February through the end of March at Pinewood Studios here in Toronto.

The Colony centers around a group of Survivors whom after being forced underground by the coming of the next Ice Age, must protect Humanity against an unknown savage force. The Film has a budget of $16 million and is being backed by Telefilm Canada.

Currently, a vast majority of the stages at Pinewood Studios are dedicated to Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim.

NEW STILL FROM "SPARKLE": MUSICAL OUT AUGUST 2012

After several delays, it looks like Sparkle finally will see a release August 10, 2012 via Sony Pictures. Fans of 2006's Dreamgirls will be excited as the Musical also is based loosely on the story of The Supremes and also a 1976 Film of the same name.

Directed by Sam Akil and scored by Curtis Mayfield with new Music by R. Kelly, Sparkle centers around three sisters and the trials and tribulations of Fame. Houston not only stars in this her first role in 15 years, but also serves as Executive Producer in the Detroit-filmed production. Aaliyah originally was to play the role of Sparkle, now played by American Idol Winner, Jordin Sparks. "We had our Sparkle, but God wanted her more. We just put it down.", says Houston. "Jordin Sparks just came up and we were like, okay. And everything just started to come into play.". Houston credits her Daughter Bobbi Kristina for preparing her well for the role of the Mother (Emma) in the Film.

With her Super Bowl performance of the Track eagerly anticipated next weekend, Madonna's brand new Artwork for Give Me All Your Luvin' surfaces today. Here we see Squad Captain Madonna scantily-clad in a sheer outfit that is Cheerleader-esque, either being a v. long shirt or a really short skirt over some short-shorts, bearing the title of the Song. Nowhere do we see though a "featuring M.I.A. & Nicki Minaj" credit though...

The Video directed by MegaForce, premieres Thursday night (February 2, 2012) on FOX during American Idol and the Track gets a special Friday release on February 3, 2012 via Universal Music. Both the Video and Super Bowl performance are said to include lots of Pom-Poms!

LIAM NEESON TAKES TOP OF BOX OFFICE WITH THIRD MOVIE IN-A-ROW

Liam Neeson finds himself atop the North American Box Office yet again, proving that older Men too can draw a crowd at the theatres. In fact, five of his last nine films to be released since 2010 have all debuted in the Top Two including his last three, The Chronicles of Naria: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Unknown and now this $25-million Action-Thriller The Grey earning $20 million from 3,185 theatres in its debut.

Underworld: Awakening which topped the Box Office last weekend, slips to second spot this weekend with $12.5 million, aheead of One for the Money, an Adaptation of the Janet Evanovich novel, opening in third with $11.8 million for Lionsgate Films from 2,737 theatres. Starring Katherine Heigl, the Action-Comedy was made for $42 million and fared well among older Women. Ticket sales also were driven by a partnership with Groupon in the U.S., offering tickets for just $6 and $12 for a pair of tickets, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Last week's runner-up Red Tails slips to third with $10.4 million.

Man on a Ledge from Summit Entertainment (recently acquired by Lionsgate Films in the U.S.), debuts in fifth spot with $8.3 million. The Action-Thriller starring Sam Worthington, edges-out Best Picture nominees Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close in sixth spot earning $7 million and also The Descendants in seventh with $5.7 million; both received a boost with Oscar nominations being announced last week.

MICHEL HAZANAVICIUS WINS DIRECTORS GUILD OF AMERICA AWARD FOR "THE ARTIST"

Congratulations again to The Artist which saw its Director Michel Hazanavicius win the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Film tonight. If you weren't convinced that this is your clear favourite for Best Picture at the upcoming Oscars, this should finally convince you.

Other Winners named this evening at Los Angeles' Grand Ballroom include Canada's Jon Cassar awarded in the category of Movies for Television and Mini-Series for his work on The Kennedys, filmed here in Toronto Summer 2010. Patty Jenkins who helmed 2003's Monster - which saw Charlize Theron win an Oscar in the category of Best Actress - also earned a win for Dramatic Series with The Killing, for which she directed the Pilot.

One pitfall of screening Movies during the week is that sometimes the screening times conflict and that was the case with Dirty Girl, which until now I never got to see! I am absolutely in love with Juno Temple after seeing this Comedy from Director/Writer Abe Sylvia. She is pretty much the Girl in High School I wish I was BFFs with! Heart-felt and hilarious - mostly hilarious - Dirty Girl is daring, honest and uplifting. Please do yourself a favour and rent, video-on-demand or even own it! Amaze.

Dirty Girl is the story of Danielle (Juno Temple), the dirty girl of Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma, circa 1987. When Danielle’s misbehavior gets her banished to a remedial class, she is paired on a parenting project with Clarke (Jeremy Dozier), an innocent closet-case with no friends. Danielle is determined to get to California to find the father she’s never met, and Clarke is desperate to escape being sent to military school by his homophobic Dad (Dwight Yoakam). Together, the mismatched misfits light out for California, and discover each other and themselves through a funny and serendipitous friendship.

"THE ARTIST" STAR UGGIE RETIRING

Sad news! Uggie, our favourite Jack Russell and star of The Artist, is retiring from Show Business, well from Feature Films in the v. least following his February 25th appearance at the Oscars. One of his Trainers, Sarah Clifford at Animal Savvy tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We don’t force our dogs to do this. And it always has to be fun for them. Uggie's still enjoying it but he’s getting up there and he’s slowing down a little.".

Many don't realize that Uggie already is 10-years-old and that the 15-hour days on-set just might be a bit too grueling for him. Before The Artist, he appeared in Water for Elephants alongside Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson.

"LIBERAL ARTS": A CROWD-PLEASER AT SUNDANCE

As the Sundance Film Festival approaches and end, yet another Crowd Please has emerged in How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor's Liberal Arts. Written, directed and starring himself and emerging star Elizabeth Olsen, the Dramedy sees Radnor playing a burnt-out 35-year-old Man who returns back to his College for inspiration, but instead winds up falling in love with a 19-year-old Student (Olsen). Allison Janney and Zac Efron also star.

IFC Films is confirmed to have picked-up distribution rights and IndieWire notes that it received two standing ovations at Sundance. Impressive.

MARIAH CAREY & JERMAINE DUPRI WORKING ON NEW MUSIC

After several winning collaborations together including One Sweet Day (ft. Boyz II Men), Always Be My Baby, It's Like That, We Belong Together, Don't Forget About Us and Shake it Off, Mariah Carey and Jermaine Dupri are teaming-up again in the Studio together down in Atlanta! These new collaborations will be appearing on her 14th Studio Album.

Although I had my doubts about Mariah's Jenny Craig Diet, I am in awe at how amaze she looks already after delivering Twins Moroccan & Monroe. I'd swear this Photo was taken in 1997... but it's not!

Just earlier this month, Mariah was recognized at BET Honors '12. It's so refreshing to see her speak candidly without the self-awareness, the angles, the sippy straws. Love her. Patti LaBelle and Kelly Rowland paid tribute to her on-stage, which we'll soon be seeing on TV.

DANIEL RADCLIFFE PROMOTES "THE WOMAN IN BLACK" IN TORONTO

A double dose of Daniel! For those of you who couldn't get enough of the Harry Potter star at last night's Black Carpet Canadian Premiere for The Woman in Black, Daniel Radcliffe embarked on his second day of Press in Toronto beginning bright and early at CHFI 98.1 and KISS 92.5. He then made his way over to Global Television's recently-launched The Morning Show for a quick chat.

Although Fans were supportive, many rising early and waiting out in the rain in hopes of an Autograph, Radcliffe and his Entourage had opted for hidden entrances and exits at both appearances. He apologized, "I'm really sorry, I'm running late!", throwing a wave before their adoring yet disappointed faces. Reportedly, some Fans took a chance and trespassed into an Underground Parking Lot but they too ultimately were denied a moment with their Idol. Alas, a Wizard's work is never done and Radcliffe had more interviews slated for much of the day.

The Thespian returns back to New York tonight after visiting there a couple weeks ago for his Saturday Night Live appearance. He is scheduled to promote The Woman in Black on the Talk Show Circuit, including filling Co-Host duties on Live! with Kelly, an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight and more.

DANIEL RADCLIFFE IN TORONTO FOR "THE WOMAN IN BLACK" PREMIERE

A major star has descended upon Toronto and both Media and Fans alike had reason to rejoice. It isn't every day Forbes Magazine's Highest-Grossing Actor of 2011 graces the City. 22-year-old Daniel Radcliffe first rose to international recognition in 2001 after landing the coveted role of Harry Potter in what would amount to eight film adaptations of J.K. Rowling's adored Fantasy novels. Since then, there has been no turning back for London's Radcliffe. Critics and audiences alike have responded to the Harry Potter franchise, grossing a staggering $7.7 billion worldwide.

Now that his days as Harry Potter have concluded, Radcliffe finds himself stretching his wings in plum assignments. In addition to having starred on Broadway's How to Succeed in Business Without Trying, he now tries his hand at Horror in his first starring role outside the series. The pressure is on and all eyes also are on him. The Woman in Black, directed by James Watkins has Radcliffe starring as a young, widowed Lawyer named Arthur Kipps, struggling to make ends meet for his sickly Son Joseph. Sent to a remote village to settle the affairs of a deceased Woman named Alice Drablow, he finds himself wrapped-up in the mystery surrounding the death of her and her Son Nathaniel, while Families continue to be tormented by her Ghost. As Arthur delves deeper and unravels the details of this eery tale, we fear that he too will fall victim to The Woman in Black.

On what drew him to the role of Arthur Kipps, Radcliffe reveals, "I was really keen on telling the story. I never expected that I'd do Horror. It's never something I thought I'd do.". He adds, "This story is about what happens when we don't move-on from loss. Arthur has become emotionally-paralyzed, unable to feel and unable to become involved in his Son's life". "The Woman in Black has become consumed by her desire for revenge", and this is what drives the Plot of this Adaptation of Susan Hill's 1983 novel of the same name.

Making his way over to me, an impeccably-dressed Radcliffe shakes my hand in true gentleman-like form. Although others had jumped-in, his kind Publicist ensured I secured a quick minute with the Megastar. I ask him about his own threshold for fear compared to that of his character Arthur, who brazenly moves forward at all costs to solve this mystery. He tells me, "That's interesting. I don't think Arthur is so much brave as he doesn't care if he lives or dies.". Pondering it further, he admits "I like to think that I'm fairly brave. I wouldn't make the same mistake of going into that locked room. Like, what was he thinking?". Funny. As an aside, Radcliffe personally rates The Woman in Black an 8.5 out of 10 on a scale of scariness.

Teen Aussie Hearththrob Cody Simpson Tweeted that he spent last night in the Studio with Justin Bieber, an opportunity made possible by the fact that they both now are managed by Scooter Braun. Both Artists appear to be using the same strategy of releasing EPs before a big full-length Disc and perhaps soon we'll see a Collaboration or more between them as the above Tweet hints?

Simpson thus far has released two EPs, 4 U and Coast to Coast with his debut Album still in-the works under Warner Music, while Bieber's second Album Believe, hits stores some time later this year via Universal Music.

Lego Man Space Journey

Genius! For about $400, these Canadian Kids managed to launch a Lego Man 80,000 feet above the Earth on a Balloon, armed with four Cameras to capture the breathtaking journey. The Lego Man fell just short of making it into Space.

17-year-old Torontonians Mathew Ho and Asad Muhammad who attend Agincourt Collegiate Institute, are the Masterminds behind this conquest which is receiving a ton of Media exposure, including being on the front page of The Toronto Star and also on CBC.

CEE LO, LMFAO, NICKI MINAJ & M.I.A. POSSIBLE TO JOIN MADONNA ON "SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW"

In what surely will be a Spectacle, LMFAO is now confirmed to be a part of Madonna's Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. Will.i.am confirmed to Capital FM, "I'm going to the Super Bowl this year to see my group LMFAO perform with Madonna".

Some sources also are reporting that Cee Lo Green will be performing together with the Queen of Pop and cite that he's been flying in and out of New York these past few weeks to rehearse for the performance.

We already know that Madonna will be performing new Single, Give Me all Your Luvin' as part of the 12-minute performance and that M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj will be joining her on-stage. With only 12 minutes to entertain the World, just how much of this will actually be about Madonna? Apparently there might even be some additional surprises.

We'll have to see on February 5, 2012 when Super Bowl XLVI airs on NBC at 6:30 PM EST!

Starring Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Cameron Diaz, Brooklyn Decker, Anna Kendrick, Chris Rock, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chace Crawford, Rodrigo Santoro (in an amazing American accent!) and many more, this is the latest effort from Director Kirk Jones (Nanny McPhee, Everybody's Fine). The Movie follows five Couples expecting their first Child in New York City and hits theatres May 11, 2012.

This makes every Party I've ever attended look totally lame! Project X centers around three high school students looking to achieve popularity and fame by throwing a party. What results however, are shattered dreams, reputations tarnished and of course, the making of Legends.

Todd Phillips, Director of Old School and The Hangover (Part I and II) brings us Project X starring breakthrough stars, Thomas Mann, Oliver Cooper and Jonathan Daniel Brown. The three Actors are slated to come to Toronto to promote the Comedy mid-February, prior to its March 3, 2012 release via Warner Bros. Exciting!

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of her storied Music Career, Aussie Pop Goddess Kylie Minogue released the Video to an Orchestral Version of her 1992 Track, Finer Feelngs today. Engaging Fans by having them Tweet the Hashtag #K25FANS, the Video gradually was unlocked after the online event had been shared a 25,000 times. A newly-brunette Minogue was revealed.

Slated for a release early this year, Minogue has re-recorded several of her hits to commemorate this milestone at London's historic Abbey Road Studios.

The World's most expensive Hot Dog has been unveiled in Vancouver at DougieDog Hot Dogs on Granville Street. The Bratwurst Sausage is injected with a $2,000 Cognac and then topped with Kobe Beef and Lobster. Above that, a special Sauce in spooned-on, with some Truffles with Tomatoes, and Hot Sauce. Named the Dragon Dog, the delicacy is priced at $100 CAN. Gimme dat.

LANA DEL REY: BORN TO DIE - REVIEW

Lana Del Rey - Born to Die

Despite the Public's polarized opinions of 2012's biggest breakthrough act thus far, Lana Del Rey does not disappoint with her major label debut, Born the Die. The 12-track Disc is spellbinding without ever treading into the gimmicky or being hyper-aware of trend. The focus is solid liquor-soaked songs of Love and all its uncertainties, covered in a shadowy, gray hue - the Album is one cohesive mood-inducing listen. Bottom line, Del Rey is a complex spirit searching for answers and we are invited on her journey to piece together remnants of her broken heart.

Arrangements are industrial-edgy, yet lush and strings-enhanced, while rhythms are heavy in Hip-Hop influence. Del Rey's voice and self-penned lyrics are the lead characters in this piece of Cinema Noir. Comparisons to Nancy Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Chris Isaak and Amy Winehouse are not altogether unfounded.

Favourites include the already familiar first three plugs: Video Games, Blue Jeans and the titular track. Diet Mountain Dew, National Anthem, Dark Paradise, Radio and Million Dollar Man are superb. The helplessly beautiful Without You, heard only on the Special Edition, is a must-listen and regretfully not on the Standard Edition. Universal Music Canada releases Lana Del Rey's Born to Die on January 31, 2012.

DEMI MOORE HOSPITALIZED FOR EXHAUSTION & OTHER REASONS

It is confirmed that Demi Moore was admitted to the Hospital after Paramedics arrived at to her home around 10:49 PM. After completing a 30-minute long assessment, it was decided she would be hospitalized. E! News reveals that sources are saying that she had been "acting like she was suffering from a seizure.”

A Statement was issued by Moore's Publicist stating, "Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.”.

Other reports from Radar Online however, are citing that the Actress might have been suffering from an Eating Disorder which led to the seizure, while TMZ reports that she is being treated for Substance Abuse. People Magazine reveals that sources close to Moore and Ex-Husband Ashton Kutcher were aware that she had a problem with Prescription Drugs.

Unfortunately Moore no longer will be appearing as Gloria Steinem in Lovelace, which currently is filming, alongside Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard, Adam Brody, Juno Temple, James Franco and more. Deadline reports that Sarah Jessica Parker has taken over the role.

One of Yorkville's hidden gems is tucked away from the manic areas we see in September during the Toronto International Film Festival, but that might be changing soon come Summertime when the Four Seasons Hotel launches on Yorkville Avenue. Directly adjacent from that Hotel is Mideastro, an exciting fusion of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Cuisine brought to us by Entrepreneur Leon Goldstein - Israeli by blood, raised South African. The spacious, yet intimate Eatery offers a tantalizing selection by Executive Chef, Benny Cohen. Born in Israel to French-Moroccan Parents and trained in Tel Aviv, Cohen moved to Canada three years back, joining Mideastro at their Vaughan location a year ago.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a Media Tasting earlier this evening and was wowed by some of the exquisitely complex combinations of flavours, unlike anything I've tasted before. Cohen breathes new life into some familiar dishes like Kufta (Beef and Lamb shaped into Cigar-shaped Cylinders), Grilled Calamari, Beef Carpaccio or simply Red Snapper with inspired spices, herbs, sauces and reductions which make them taste brand new.

Among my favourites on the Menu are Lahma Ba’ajin (Flatbread topped with Ground Lamb, Chickpeas and Tomatoes with Sheep Yoghurt Tahina Sauce); a hearty Moroccan Lamb Soup (Tomato-based); Lamb & Beef Grilled Kufta (sitting in a Tomato and Eggplant Stew and topped with a thin Focaccia); the delightful meaty Red Snapper (on an Arisa/Sundried Pepper Risotto bed); and of course, the impeccable Black Truffle Carpaccio (Arugula rolled in 12-week aged Wagyu Beef, Parmigiano Reggiano, Balsamic Vinegar and Black Truffle Oil on a layer of Pomegranate Honey Reduction).

The deliciousness doesn't just stop at Main Courses. Desserts equally are exciting, including a must-try Nutella Parfait (frozen Nutella Cream complete with Caramelized Bananas, Pecan Brittle and a Tuile Cookie).

JOHN HAWKES GETTING MAJOR BUZZ OUT OF SUNDANCE FOR "THE SURROGATE"

When a Film gets a standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival, we take notice over here. Oscar-nominated John Hawkes has been on a long road to success and recognition and a couple of his latest works, Winter's Bone and Martha Marcy May Marlene have raised the 52-year-old Actor's profile significantly. The Surrogate has him starring as Mark O'Brien, a Poet and Journalist suffering severely as a result of a fight with Polio, who hires a Woman (Helen Hunt) to help him lose his Virginity, on his road to fully becoming a Man. Hunt shockingly spends much of her screen time fully nude in this role.

It is said following a screening earlier this week, the audience gave Hawkes and the Film a standing ovation. One of my favourite Critics, Peter Debruge at Variety Magazine Tweeted, "If it were running in this year's Oscar race, THE ARTIST would be toast.". Big Fan of The Artist, so we'll have to see about that!

Fox Searchlight paid $6 million for U.S. distribution of The Surrogate, from Director/Writer Ben Lewin. The Deal is said to be the largest thus far at the Festival. Crossing fingers it'll surface this September at TIFF!

Nashville-based Pop Act Hot Chelle Rae flew into Toronto earlier last night to promote their upcoming Tour, in addition to their sophomore Disc Whatever from Sony Music Canada. The Quartet will be playing The Opera House in Toronto on April 16, 2012. The Album released late November features two hit singles including the U.S. Double-Platinum Tonight, Tonight and I Like it Like That. Just this past November, they were named Best New Artist at the American Music Awards.

Playing an intimate show at KISS 92.5 tonight, one-half of the Duo - Ryan Follesé and Nash Overstreet (Older Brother of Glee Star, Chord) took the time to meet some Fans and perform live for them. Earlier in the day, they appeared on CP24 and MuchMusic's New.Music.Live to spread the word about their impending Tour.

From Friday, February 24 through Sunday, February 26, 2012, the TIFF Bell Lightbox will be hosting Sing-a-long Grease finally after successful runs in California and Texas. Essentially, you sit in a Movie Theatre and sing along to the lyrics on the screen to one of the most beloved Musicals of all time. People are encourage to dress-up and a Vocal Warm-up will be performed prior to the Movie. This actually looks fun!

JEAN DUJARDIN IN FEBRUARY 2012 ISSUE OF "GQ"

The Star of The Artist himself graces the February 2012 issue of GQ looking amaze. Just Oscar- nominated for the category of Actor in a Leading Role, Dujardin looks supremely dapper in Suits by Prada, Armani, Isaia and more in photos by Carter Smith.

In the Piece by Mary Kay Schilling, we learn that the Actor got his start in France doing James Bond Spoofs, also by The Artist Director Michel Hazanavicius and before that, he did Stand-up Comedy. In terms of Style, he reveals he's a huge Fan of Paul Newman.

Does Dujardin plan to move to Hollywood now that his Career stateside is flourishing? "Oh, no, I am too Parisian. And I think the French would be angry if I left. I hope they would be angry", he says.

Jennifer Lawrence announces 2012 Oscar Nominees

The 2012 Oscar nominations were announced bright and early this morning with the help of The Hunger Games Star Jennifer Lawrence and the surprises just wouldn't quit! Martin Scorcese came out on-top with an impressive eleven nominations, including Best Picture. Many also were surprised to see the sudden presence of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, which has been a non-presence much of Awards Season, only to pop-up finally for the coveted prize - a brilliant campaign by Warner Bros. to shape perceptions with as late a release as possible. Nonetheless, The Artist which has swept Best Picture awards coast to coast leading up to this, receives a stellar ten nominations. It is without a question the one to beat, although other Nominees The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, War Horse, Moneyball, The Tree of Life and The Help might have something to say about this.

Everyone is talking about some surprising omissions, namely both Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan for their mesmerizing work in Shame. Elizabeth Olsen who is astoundingly good in Martha Marcy May Marlene also was nowhere to be found either and some are saying that Fox Searchlight which handled distribution for both Films in the U.S., had tapped-out its resources campaigning for its Prize Horse, The Descendants. Also, The Adventures of Tintin, widely considered a contender for Animated Feature Film at one point was overlooked altogether this year.

There were some real pleasant surprises to be had this morning, especially for Actor in a Supporting Role with Jonah Hill (Moneyball), Kenneth Branagh (My Week with Marilyn), Max von Sydow (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close) and Nick Nolte (Warrior) all popping-up based on their powerful performances, to join category favourite, Christopher Plummer (Beginners). Despite Warrior failing to garner critical and commercial success, it is thrilling that Nolte gets his due recognition as an alcoholic Father on-the-mend, hoping to repair his relationships with his two Sons.

Actress in a Supporting Role pits Co-stars and first-time Nominees Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer up against one another. Hilarious TV Actress Melissa McCarthy had many cheering with the announcement of her nomination for Bridesmaids. French-Argentinian Actress Bérénice Bejo who is phenomenal in her non-speaking role in The Artist, also surfaces in this hotly-contested category.

Mexican Actor Demián Bichir who largely has been absent in talks much of this Awards Season, surfaces now shockingly for Actor in a Leading Role with A Better Life, while after many years, the brilliant Gary Oldman finally gets his first-ever nomination for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. George Clooney and Jean Dujardin are considered widely to be neck-in-neck in this category, with the former's Buddy Brad Pitt also in-contention for Moneyball. No Fassbender, I'll say it again.

Although Critics had their own opinions about The Iron Lady, none could deny Meryl Streep's outstanding performance as Margaret Thatcher and now she is touted as the one to beat for Actress in a Leading Role. Michelle Williams (My Week with Marilyn) and Viola Davis (The Help), however are not far behind and many are pleased that the Dark Horse in this category, Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) gets a nod after some doubt. This likely will be Streep's third Oscar win in her celebrated career which now includes 17 nominations.

This year's Oscars certainly won't lack any Star Power and even though Angelina Jolie's In the Land of Blood and Honey didn't get a Foreign Language Film nomination, she almost certainly will be there to support her Husband Pitt. Madonna even has reason to attend the Oscars this year with her W.E. getting a nomination for Costume Design. Lisa Tant, Editor at Flare Magazine was pleased about this, Tweeting me "W.E. Costumes = Excellent!". Although I personally am surprised that The Muppets has failed to garner the recognition it should have received, it is fantastic news that it will have a presence in the category of Music (Original Song) with Man or a Muppet.

From a Canadian standpoint, our Friends at Alliance Films are absolutely thrilled to have their Films receive a whipping 20 nominations. Canada also has an entry for Foreign Language Film in Monsieur Lazhar, which only recently was named one of Canada's Top Ten.

2011 SOVEREIGN AWARD NOMINEES ANNOUNCED: HONOURING BEST IN CANADIAN THOROUGHBRED RACING

Although they won't be held until Thursday, April 5, 2012 when the new season of Racing commences, the Jockey Club of Canada has announced its 37th Annual Sovereign Award Nominees, honouring the best in Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Racing. Considered a top candidate for Canadian Horse of the Year, seven-year-old mare Never Retreat is poised also to take the award for Champion Turf Female. She was retired last month with a minor foot injury, but sure made Woodbine Fans proud in 2011, winning the important races locally like the Canadian and Dance Smartly Stakes before heading to Kentucky, scoring a major victory in the First Lady Stakes last October. She faces stiff competition also from past Winner and just-retired Miss Keller, who ran a eye-popping race in the E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine in October.

Another filly entering the Horse of the Year race with strong credentials is Inglorious, based on the strength of two important Summer wins in two of the Country's most important races, the Woodbine Oaks and historic Queen's Plate. Her Dam Noble Strike, is up for Outstanding Broodmare producing also the talented Dixie Strike.

Raising a few eyebrows is possible Champion Two-Year-Old Male Maritimer who was just sold to scandalous Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov (remember that Hilary Swank controversy?) for $1.7 million. Campaigned aggressively late in the season, Maritimer went on to win two important races in his division including the important Coronation Futurity. We could be seeing the gelding this Summer in the Queen's Plate or even the Kentucky Derby. Excaper who ran second in the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Turf, flying Canadian colours proudly, hasn't been as consistent but also is a major contender.

The Champion Two-Year-Old Filly division is shaping-up to be a tough one with two deserving young ladies pitted against one another. Hard Not to Like has beat male competitors in the prestigious Cup and Saucer Stakes and ran a respectable fifth against the World's best in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Tu Endie Wei too is dearly loved by Woodbine Fans, having won all three of her races here impressively.

This year's greatest Cinderella Story is that of Atlantic Hurricane, who is a contender to win Champion Female Sprinter competing against lesser competition not too long ago for a claiming price tag of $40,000. The beautiful filly has gone on to win $434k and three important races this season.

Although the category of Outstanding Jockey is filled with talent, it shouldn't be a surprise that Mexican-born Luis Contreras will take it all after a record-breaking season which saw him win a total $11,563,915 in Purse Money.

"SMASHED" AND "SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED" GARNERING BUZZ AT SUNDANCE

As the Sundance Film Festival approaches the halfway mark over in Park City, the buzz continues to build for some promising Indies. Safety Not Guaranteed in particular is garnering a bit of buzz after some positive reception at its initial Screening. The Sci-Fi Comedy centers around two employees at a Magazine (played by Jake M. Johnson and Aubrey Plaza), whom both go on an all-out search to find a Man who placed a whacky ad for Time Travel in the Classifieds. New York Magazine reports "...expect a lucrative sale for this one, which has tons of mainstream breakout potential".

Mary Elizabeth Winstead who has been long overdue for a breakthrough, is getting lots of praise for her portrayal as an alcoholic Mother on the brink of changing her ways in Smashed - not to be confused in any way with the NBC Musical Series Smash, starring Katharine McPhee and Debra Messing ... although the latter's Will & Grace Co-star Megan Mullally does make an appearance in the Film. Meanwhile Winstead's Husband, played by Aaron Paul, makes a turn for the worse. Slash Film already is calling the Drama a "must-see". Crossing fingers we see this one surface at TIFF!

What more fitting than to receive a Year of the Dragon greeting (below) than from our favourite Viking/Dragon Trainer himself, Jay Baruchel? The Montreal-born Actor known best for voicing Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon currently is in Niagara Falls filming Jonathan Sobol's Comedy The Black Marks alongside Kurt Russell and Matt Dillon. Canadian Cast Mates Chris Diamantopoulos and Katheryn Winnick have confirmed to me directly via Twitter that the shoots will at some point be coming to Toronto. How exciting!

Baruchel will have a busy Year of the Dragon indeed, with multiple Films on-the-go. Hockey Comedy Goon will be out February 24, 2012 via Alliance Films in Canada, before David Cronenberg's Cosmpolis hits theatres later this year. He soon will begin work also on Comedy The Apocalypse alongside James Franco and Seth Rogen, and also he will be reprising the role of Hiccup once again in How to Train Your Dragon 2.

"RED LIGHTS", "ARBITRAGE" & "ROBOT AND FRANK" GARNERING BUZZ AT SUNDANCE

Filmed partly in Toronto, Director Rodrigo Cortés' Red Lights is getting a fair amount of positive buzz out of the Sundance Film Festival. Described as "campy" and "over-the-top" by New York Magazine, the Thriller starring Sigourney Weaver, Elizabeth Olsen, Cillian Murphy and Robert DeNiro is about a Psychologist and her Assistant who study Paranormal Activity, being led to a world-renowned Psychic in Barcelona. Alliance Films has picked-up this one, although there still isn't a set release date. Will we be seeing this one at TIFF this September?

Richard Gere is no stranger to covering-up a secret or two. In 2002's Chicago, he played Billy Flynn - a top Lawyer hired to defend to Murderesses and also that year he starred in Unfaithful as a Husband who murders his Wife's Lover, rolling him up in a rug and throwing him in garbage dump. Gere is gaining a ton of buzz at Sundance so far with his latest Drama, Arbitrage, which has him not only concealing his some financial wrong-doings at work, but also the death of his Mistress. Juicy. The New York Post also is raving that this juts might be the Actor's best performance ever.

Frank Langella and James Marsden star in Robot and Frank, a futuristic Comedy about and aged former-Jewel Thief whose Son employs a Robot to spend time with him. New York Magazine already is calling the Film a "gem".

UPDATE: Abritrage was sold to Lionsgate Films and Roadside Attractions on January 25, 2012 for a reported $2.5 million. This might mean that Alliance Films will be distributing in Canada, seeing that they acquired Maple Pictures last year, which had a direct deal with Lionsgate.

CAST OF "BACHELORETTE" AT SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

One of the Films getting the most buzz already at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, is Bachelorette. The Comedy starring Isla Fisher, Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, James Marsden and Bridesmaids Star Rebel Wilson, is written and directed by up-and-comer Leslye Headland.

Bachelorette which filmed last Fall in New York, has three Friends uniting to be Bridesmaids for a Girl they used to terrorize in High School with the name Pigface (Wilson). No Distributor is attached to the Film yet, so it'll be interesting to see if it gets picked-up. Or perhaps we might see this one in September at TIFF?

"UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING": RUNAWAY WINNER AT BOX OFFICE

Underworld: Awakening 3-D is a runaway winner at the Box Office this weekend, earning $25 million from 3,078 theatres for Sony Pictures, meaning that Kate Beckinsale has had two number one Films consecutively - last week, Contraband and now this fourth installment of the Underworld Franchise.

Red Tails defies all expectations, debuting in second spot for 20th Century Fox. The World War II Film, funded and produced largely by LucasFilm (George Lucas' Production Company), earned $19 million from 2,512 theatres, just ahead of last week's champion, Contraband with $12.3 million in its second week.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close earned $10.2 million in its fifth week of release, now expanding to 2,630 theatres for Warner Bros. Critics however, haven't been so responsive to this weekend's Top Four, with this one earning the highest score on the Tomatometer at Rotten Tomatoes at 49%.

Meanwhile, Steven Soderbergh's Haywire starring Mixed Martial Arts Star Gina Carano, opens in fifth spot with $8.6 million for Relativity Media garnering strong reviews at 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, just marginally ahead of Disney's Beauty and the Beast 3-D in its second week with $8.3 million.

The Iron Lady earns $3.7 million from 1,076 theatres in its second week of expansion. Overseas it is faring rather well, bringing in $19.5 million already there.

ELIZABETH OLSEN, DAKOTA FANNING & ANTON YELCHIN TO STAR IN "VERY GOOD GIRLS"

Deadline reports that Elizabeth Olsen, Dakota Fanning and Anton Yelchin are circling the Drama Very Good Girls, to be helmed by Naomi Foner - Mother of Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal. The Film centers around two Best Friends who after graduating High School, are determined to lose their Virginity that Summer. The situation becomes complicated as both Girls are attracted to the same Guy and it is said that both become "more Women than Girls" out of it all. Juicy. I'm confident this one will be amaze already with its superb casting.

Filming begins this Summer in New York.

The Producers Guild Awards were held earlier this evening at the Beverly Hilton, honouring the Producers behind the finest in Television and Film. The Awards are considered a major precursor to determining who might win at the Oscars. The Artist has solidified its status as the Frontrunner for Best Picture at the Oscars with its Producer Thomas Langmann winning for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures. Nominations will be announced early Tuesday.

KATE BECKINSALE: QUEEN OF THE BOX OFFICE

Call it a Kateback. Kate Beckinsale officially is the Queen of the Box Office, poised to make it two consecutive weekends on-top with two different Movies, Contraband last weekend and Underworld: Awakening 3-D this weekend. Based on last night's receipts tally, Underworld: Awakening 3-D brought in an impressive $9.4 million making it a clear Winner. Note though that it is screening in 3-D which somewhat inflates its total.

Although originally thought to take the lead, Red Tails, starring Beckinsale's Pearl Harbor Co-star Cuba Gooding Jr., settles for second with an estimated $6.02 million.

The reign isn't set to fizzle any time soon as another Sony Pictures Monster in Total Recall, is set to hit the theatres August 3, 2012. She also plays the lead in two upcoming releases set to begin production, The Trials of Cate McCullough and Happy Holidays, Katherine Sloane.

HEIDI KLUM & SEAL TO SPLIT

Sad news. People Magazine reveals that Heidi Klum and her Husband of almost seven years Seal are planning to file for Divorce. The Marriage is Klum's second and she prior was married to Ric Pipino and subsequently had a Daughter Helene, with Flavio Briatore.

A statement has not yet been issued, but the Couple spent the Holidays together with their three Children Henry, Johan and Lou, and were photographed publicly in Aspen on December 27, 2011.

UPDATE (1/22/12): It's official. Both Heidi Klum and Seal have issued a Statement to People Magazine, confirming their plans to split, reading: "We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.".

MARK RUFFALO TAKES LEAD IN RYAN MURPHY'S "THE NORMAL HEART": JULIA ROBERTS, JIM PARSONS, ALEC BALDWIN & MATT BOMER ALSO ADDED

2012 will be the start of Mark Ruffalo's long-overdue rise as a bona fide Leading Man in Hollywood. The Actor has been confirmed to take the lead in Glee/American Horror Story Creator Ryan Murphy's new Film, The Normal Heart. The HIV/AIDs Drama is based upon a TONY Award-winning Play of the same title and centers on Ned Weeks, who is one of the first Advocates in New York to raise awareness about the disease. Written by Activist/Writer Larry Kramer, the Play largely is autobiographical.

The Cast for The Normal Heart is rather impressive including Julia Roberts, who last teamed with Murphy on 2010's Eat, Pray, Love. She will be playing a wheelchair-bound Doctor who also is among the first to raise concern about HIV/AIDs. Matt Bomer, whose star dramatically is on the rise, takes the role of Weeks' Boyfriend contracting the Disease, while another openly-Gay Actor Jim Parsons will tackle the role of an Activist from the South. Alec Baldwin also has been named to play the Lawyer Brother of Weeks, struggling to cope with the sexuality of Ruffalo's character.

Ruffalo currently is filming Now You See Me, a Bank Heist Thriller which has the FBI circling a team of Illusionists who rob banks as part of their act, rewarding their audiences with money; Isla Fisher, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg star. His upcoming Drama Thanks for Sharing has him alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, P!nk, Tim Robbins and Joely Richardson, about three Sex Addicts on the road to recovery. His marquee release however is Disney's all-star The Avengers, in theatres May 4, 2012 which has him starring in what is said to be an important role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk.

CUBA GOODING JR. IN TORONTO FOR "RED TAILS"

It's been a long road back to the top for Cuba Gooding Jr. The Academy Award Winner made a visit to one of his self-professed favourite cities today - Toronto - to promote his latest effort, Red Tails. The George Lucas (Lucasfilm) Production he reveals, was filmed in 2009 and finally just released as admittedly it was a hard-sell to Hollywood studios. With a bit of persistence though, 20th Century Fox took a risk on Red Tails' and now the World War II Drama is poised in-contention with Underworld: Awakening 3-D to take the top of the Box Office this weekend.

Gooding tells an intimate crowd at the Rosewater Supper Club following a Screening hosted by his Friend and former NHL Player Anson Carter this evening, "I think it's a testament to Geroge Lucas' passion to tell the story the right way. I'm sure you've heard the stories of how he put-up his own money, but he is truly passionate about telling this story.". In celebratory spirits, he goes on to say "I'm just saying there's a movement through America and I feel through Canada to show people that these films of this type can be any colour... but as long as it's done with quality, people will come.".

Red Tails admittedly wasn't a Film on my Radar at first, but even I was thoroughly drawn-in within its first 20 minutes. The Anthony Hemingway Film centers on a group of African-American Soldiers in the Tuskegee Program, the unsung Heroes of World War II. Seldom have these Men been acknowledged for their courageous work in the skies, helping America and their Allies achieve victory over their enemies. A genuine sense of Brotherhood can be felt from the fantastic performances by the Ensemble including Gooding, Terrence Howard, David Oyelowo, Nate Parker, Elijah Kelley and even Singer Ne-Yo. But above this, one cannot help but be seduced by the gutt-wrenching aerial battles orchestrated by the Master himself, Lucas. This might not be the type of Movie that Critics clamour to review, but audiences will connect.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Gooding on a couple occasions tonight, seeing him spend time generously with Fans on the Red Carpet and greeting Supporters at his After Party. The Ladies in particular love him and he sure has a way of charming them as they queued one-by-one to meet him, some even came back for seconds. He jokes to me, "If you liked Red Tails, wait till you see Part II!". Of course, he was kidding and kidding he did a lot of, owning the Microphone as MC at one point (see below) and even taking a tray of Burger Sliders to serve the Bartenders. Asking him to repeat the pose, Gooding declines kindly, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!".

Red Tails is now in theatres via 20th Century Fox Canada.

REVIEW: "HAYWIRE"

Covert Operative Mallory Kane (Gina Carano) is a wanted Woman. After successfully completing a mission in Barcelona with Aaron (Channing Tatum) to rescue a Journalist held hostage, she is then sent off to Dublin by her Handler Kenneth (Ewan McGregor), where she is paired with Paul (Michael Fassbender). Mallory however, then realizes that she has become the target of a mission and must fight with everything she's got to stay alive, avoid her Pursuers and unravel the true reason behind the hunt in which she has become target.

Director Steven Soderbergh tries something new with Haywire and successfully keeps you on the edge of your seat with his slick storytelling and some riveting Action thrown into the mix. Fans of Mixed Martial Arts star Carano have plenty to be excited about with some tightly choreographed fight sequences guaranteed to get the audience cheering. Just wait till you see Fassbender get trapped in a Body Scissors hold and lulled into deep slumber.

As an Actress, Carano delivers her lines solidly albeit one-dimensional at times, and perhaps doesn't react enough to her ultimate betrayal to give us that extra ounce of push towards her. Even with a stellar Supporting Cast of Men, this all is about her and she manages to carry her weight. Much of Haywire isn't so much dialogue-driven as it is about action and subtext and because key details are unveiled only late, some of the Story as a result is sacrificed. Nonetheless, it is hard not to be entertained here. Alliance Films releases Haywire on January 20, 2012.

Spooky! Tim Burton is almost ready to serve up his next Film Dark Shadows, based on the TV Series of the same name in the mid-'60s. Starring once again his male Muse Johnny Depp, the Supernatural Drama centers around a young Boy named Barnabas and his family who move from England to America. Barnabas grows up to be a wealthy Playboy but breaks the heart of a Witch named Angelique (Eva Green) who buries him alive. 20 years later, he is set free and returns to his former residence, now occupied by strangers with deep, dark secrets of their own.

Some new Stills have surfaced from Dark Shadows including the one above with a menacing Depp, haunting Michelle Pfeiffer, perhaps extending an unwelcome stay. The Film also stars Chloë Moretz, Jonny Lee Miller, Jackie Earle Haley, Alice Cooper and of course the brilliant Mrs. Burton herself, Helena Bonham Carter.

May 11, 2012 is Warner Bros.' slated release date for Dark Shadows.

"IN THE LAND OF BLOOD AND HONEY": MOVIE REVIEW

Many curious eyes will be fixed upon Angelina Jolie's written and directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey. I might even go out on a limb to say that perhaps over-ambitious, she delivers ably. Set during the Bosnian War in the '90s, we see an unconventional Love Story between both Ajla (Zana Marjanović) and Danijel (Goran Kostić), held together during War and forever divided by their ethnic differences.

Ajla, of Muslim descent, is captured and contained at a Rape Camp during the Bosnian-Serbs' Ethnic Cleansing regime. She falls in love prior to the War with Danijel, a Serbian Soldier and subsequently one of her Captors, raising a few eyebrows among his peers and Father, Nebojsa (Rade Šerbedžija). Although Danijel vows to protect Ajla secretly, we see the impact of circumstance on their relationship as their true allegiances to one another and their beliefs are tested to the extreme by torture. We see all sorts of horrible things happen, including the rape and humiliation of any non-Serbian Women, to their being used as Human Shields at battle - a brutal side to a Story seldom acknowledged in Hollywood.

Although In the Land of Blood and Honey struggles a bit early in its tone with a Script that reads almost too text book-like and perhaps one too many coincidences to be fully believable, Jolie masters the art of suspense and this is palpable as the Story progresses. For much of the latter part of the Film, I was overcome with the agonizing feeling that something is terribly wrong for Ajla nor Danijel. Jolie's efforts in humanizing both sides of the complex struggle are respectable, but I for one would have gotten more from this had she explored the emotional element of Loss a bit more here. The costs paid by Ajla and Danijel are great, including Friends and Family but do we ever get a full grasp of this?

That being said, there are a number of magical moments which Jolie brings-out and captures between the Hero and Heroine in their tumultuous relationship. And if you look closely enough, you just might see a brief Cameo from Brad Pitt as a Soldier down. Will this be the type of Movie that appeals to Fans of Mr. & Mrs. Smith? Not likely, but Jolie is fully aware of that.

Alliance Films releases In the Land of Blood and Honey on Friday, January 20, 2012 in Toronto and the following week in Vancouver and Montreal.

CINDY CRAWFORD'S DAUGHTER KAIA GERBER: NEW FACE OF YOUNG VERSACE

Yes, that would be the official face of brand-new Young Versace Line, Kaia Gerber, in a just-released Promo Photo. You may have heard of the 10-year-old's famous Mom, Supermodel Cindy Crawford? Young Versace, which caters to Girls up to the age of 12, opened its first store in Milan over the Holidays, carrying its inaugural Spring 2012 Collection.

On Gerber, Donatella Versace had nothing but praise for the burgeoning star saying, "The Camera really, really loves her ... It was such a special treat watching Kaia walk in her mother's footsteps". Although I'm not quite sure I would let my 10-year-old Daughter go out in the above Outfit, she does look lovely!

Crawford has a bit of a legacy with Versace. That famous red dress from the Fashion House she wore to the 1991 GRAMMY Awards - when she was still dating Richard Gere - stands as one of the most iconic ones to ever have graced a Red Carpet.

"THIS MEANS WAR" BUMPED-UP TO VALENTINE'S DAY

Based on outstanding feedback from Test Screenings, 20th Century Fox is now bumping-up the release date three days earlier for This Means War to Valentines's Day. Filmed in Vancouver last year, the Romantic Action/Comedy starring Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon (just cast in Atom Egoyan's latest Devil's Knot) and Chelsea Handler pits two Best Friends and CIA Operatives against one another when it comes to one Woman they both can't resist. Laughs, Guns, Hotties. Oh, yeah.

This Means War however, won't be the only Canadian-filmed Movie to hit theatres around Valentine's Day. Just a few days ahead of its release, Toronto-made Tearjerker The Vow starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams will be hitting theates on February 10th. It will be an East vs. West War, indeed!

MICHAEL FASSBENDER ON "THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER"

Michael Fassbender covers this week's issue of The Hollywood Reporter, chatting with Pamela McClintock. In the Interview, we learn that he's actually an Adrenaline Junkie, obsessed with Speed! During his break from filming recently, he escaped to Hawaii, which coincidentally is where fellow Golden Globe Nominee George Clooney shot his winning Film, The Descendants. "I was strapped to the instructor, who was behind me. For 50 seconds, you're free-falling, and your brain is saying, 'What are you doing?'". Lucky Instructor.

Fassbender also reveals that if he could take one person to the Oscars as his Date, it would be his Mother. Hilariously, we learn also that his Father also was "proud" after seeing his super-talented Son's full-frontal scene in Shame at the Venice Film Festival.

REVIEW: "CORIOLANUS"

If there's one Human Truth one can take away from Ralph Fiennes' directorial debut Coriolanus, it would be the importance of living your own life. The Action-Drama takes modern sensibility, edgy (albeit shaky) Cinematography, outstanding acting and delivers William Shakespeare's lesser-known Play with some bloody, violent gusto.

The Film centers on Coriolanus (Fiennes), a Roman General who at once is celebrated and loathed by his people. Under the pressure of his controlling Mother Volumnia (Vanessa Redgrave), he is given little choice but to advance to the position of Consul. After failing to win the hearts of Romans and thus their requisite votes, he reacts angrily and finally is banished from Rome. Coriolanus, leaves behind his beloved Mother, his Wife Virgilia (Jessica Chastain) and Son Martius (Harry Fenn) to form a shocking alliance with his Arch-Nemesis Aufidius (Gerard Butler). Alas, our Hero's loyalties are tested to the extreme when his Family returns to confront him, but has Coriolanus reached the point of no return?

Point blank, Coriolanus isn't for everyone. Some fans of Contemporary Cinema simply won't connect with John Logan's Screenplay, which faithfully is Shakespearean; this of course, bodes well for Enthusiasts. Some may even react queasily to the copious amount of violence seen on-screen, but in the end, the Film raises generates some interesting thoughts about Free Will, Betrayal and the cost of Ambition.

Fiennes is ferocious here, terrifying when he works himself into full-on rage and as a Director, he brings out some fantastic work from his Ensemble Cast. Redgrave in particular is perfect as an overbearing Mother who is commanding, yet protective. There even are a few Oedipal moments in her embraces with Coriolanus himself (look above). Chastain although seen less, is effective illustrating Volumnia's unquestionable dominance and it is refreshing to see Butler take a risk here and stretch his range. One or two lingering moments late in the Film between himself and Fiennes might raise a few eyebrows on the true nature of Coriolanus and Aufidius' love/hate relationship. D Films releases Coriolanus on January 20, 2012.

Upon visiting Wikipedia earlier today, I was greeted with this message and admittedly was ignorant on both the Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect Intellectual Property Acts. Although these are Bills which potentially could turn into Laws directly impacting our Friends south of the Border, on a global scale, this impacts Canadian Bloggers like myself right down to the content I can link to, what videos I can embed, what I can Tweet and the content I myself can post.

One of my favourite websites and resources Wikipedia, boldly blacked-out their content for 24 hours to raise awareness about the Matter. And successful they were with the Blackout becoming a global Trending Topic on Twitter almost immediately. "Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet", Visitors were told.

I too extend the invite to you to educate yourselves on this matter if you haven't already as inevitably it could impact you as a Reader and Citizen of the Internet. BRANDY & MONICA REUNITE FOR "IT ALL BELONGS TO ME"

Almost 14 years after The Boy is Mine reached the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart for 13 consecutive weeks (15 in Canada), the Rivalry is back on again for R&B Divas Monica and Brandy. The Duo whom first joined forces back in 1998, going on to win a GRAMMY Award together, were in Miami over the weekend recording a new track titled ~~Turn the Lights On~~ It All Belongs to Me. The Track is now slated for a February 6, 2012 release after being recorded over a session in Miami on the weekend of January 7th.

The Track, produced and written by Rico Love (seen top left in the above photo) will appear on both Monica's New Life, in-stores March 6th and Brandy's still-untitled new Disc out this Spring. Brandy signed to RCA Records/Sony Records under Producer Breyon Prescott's (seen top right in the above photo) Chameleon Records in August 2011 and is now at work on her sixth Album, with plans too for a Collaboration Album with her Brother Ray J. Monica was signed to J Records, which folded last year and now seventh Disc New Life will be released also through RCA Records/Sony Records also. Fate?

After a productive session in the Studio, Monica and Brandy both Tweeted their excitement, although the latter felt her vocals weren't up-to-par that day saying "Wonderful night in the studio! I wasn't 100%, but I gave it my all and it turned out great! Just a little more raspy than normal.".

A lot has happened in 14 years for bother Singers who are now Mothers. After tragically seeing her Boyfriend Jarvis Weems commit suicide before her eyes back in 2000, Monica has two Sons - Rodney Ramone III (six) and Romelo Montez (four) by then-Boyfriend Rodney Hill. She currently is dating NBA Player Shannon Brown. Brandy, after being involved in highly-publicized fatal Car Crash back in 2006, and having a Daughter with Producer Robert Smith named Sy'rai Iman (nine), was last known to be involved with NBA Player Quentin Richardson in a relationship ending 2005.

Are you ready for this Comeback? Will it be possible to top The Boy is Mine? Shouldn't they invite Producers Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and Dallas Austin back for a true Reunion?

PILOT EPISODE A "SMASH"!

Yes! I've finally seen that Pilot of NBC's Smash and can I express how pleased I am with it? It's actually more Fame than its lacking 2009 Remake! Here we see Julia (Debra Messing), the Co-Writer of this forthcoming Marilyn Monroe Musical and the tensions she is having at home with her Husband who disapproves of her branching into the venture. We also see Karen (Katharine McPhee) introduced as a green and struggling Actress on the verge of a big break after some unsuccessful auditions and her closest competition ultimately for the role of Marilyn Monroe, Ivy (Meg Hilty). Ivy appears to be struggling with some personal demons of her own and some insecurities after failing to get her big break despite having been schooled and having much experience in minor roles on Broadway. We also meet another of the main characters Derek (Jack Davenport), an arrogant and womanizing Choreographer who just almost pushes the boundaries too far with Karen.

We really feel Messing's excitement about what's to come, while McPhee is perfect in her vulnerability and eagerness. Anjelica Huston is seen little but is commanding every moment she's on. Hilty wows us right off the bat as Monroe in a Baseball-themed number complete with thrusting, flung about from dancer to dancer like a sulty rag doll. The Episode ends with the number Let Me Be Your Star, performed by Hilty and McPhee (which quickly has disappeared from YouTube) and quite honestly, I can't get it out of my head.

Smash premieres February 6, 2012 at 10:00 PM. CTV airs in Canada. I'm hooked.

Just finally giving it a full whirl, I must say I'm loving Oakville native Anjulie's new Track Stand Behind the Music, channeling some Lisa "Lefteye" Lopes/Nicki Minaj with a dash of M.I.A. "The same old song/You won't last long/If you can't stand behind the music", she sings - a metaphor for remaining true to yourself and focusing on your own integrity.

Toronto rolled out the Red Carpet for just-crowned Golden Globe Winner Idris Elba tonight, all ready to head back to work just one day after having won the Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Miniseries/Movie in BBC's Luther.

The British Thespian/Musician/DJ currently is hard at work in Toronto on Guillermo del Toro's $350-million opus Pacific Rim, now surpassing the $250 million Total Recall as the biggest budgeted title ever to film in our City.

Lugging a bag of gear and a guitar on his back, Elba flew back to Toronto after a hectic weekend in Los Angeles for the Awards, celebrating his win at the HBO Golden Globes After Party. Yesterday, Elba had Tweeted how after losing last year, his Daughter Isan made him his own handmade Golden Globe Award. This year however, he brings home a real Award, acknowledging his beloved Daughter in his Speech on-air!

Elba will be in Toronto till late April completing production on Pacific Rim alongside the likes of Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Hunnam, Clifton Collins Jr., Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Ron Perlman, Max Martini and more.

Although he clarified recently that him taking over the role of James Bond simply is just talk, Elba indeed is keeping plenty busy. He will be next be seen in Sir Ridley Scott's Prometheus, out June 8, 2012 and also Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance out on February 17, 2012. He also is said to be attached to star in Kathryn Bigelow's untitiled Osama bin Laden Film, following his work on Pacific Rim. There also is talk of a sequel to Blockbuster Thor, which would see him reprising the role of Heimdall.

ASIAN KING OF POP JACKY CHEUNG IN TORONTO

Now this I will never forget! Jacky Cheung is the undisputed King of Pop in Chinese-speaking Asia and since 1992 I have been an avid Fan of his. I actually credit him for single-handedly making me want to get closer to my roots in learning how to read Chinese through his Lyrics. He inspired me to study the Language in University.

Unlike a number of the heavily-produced and connection-heavy Artists currently dominating Cantonese Pop Music, the Crooner's vocals resonate with power, range and emotion and this transcends the boundaries of language and dialect. Cheung has sold over 60 million Albums worldwide (keep in mind primarily in territories where Piracy is rampant), breaking Box Office records with his Tours. And after a sell-out show in Vancouver last weekend, he performed before a packed Air Canada Centre last night. Cheung is one of the few Asian Artists who can pull-in enough interest to fill an arena in these parts, currently touring the World with his 1/2 Century Tour, commemorating his 50th birthday.

In addition to being a Mega-Popstar, Cheung also is an accomplished Film Star, twice winning Best Supporting Actor at both the Hong Kong Film Awards and Golden Horse Awards (Chinese Cinema's equivalent to the Oscars).

Although I had to venture out to Toronto Pearson International Airport at an obscene hour today, I got my wish and after 20-plus years of obsessing over Cheung, finally I got my moment with him... and it was magical. For some odd reason I was expecting him to be larger in stature, but in fact he is rather diminutive in-person. It is rare he graces Canada with his presence, so this is a true treat.

With his Management keeping him strategically hidden in his SUV for a prolonged period, waiting on the Luggage Check-in line to die-down a bit, Cheung finally made his entrance and out of nowhere, Fans of all ages in-hiding were clawing their way to him. He divided his time doing a couple quick Group Photos with Fans and signing some Autographs, speaking at a whisper to protect his voice after delivering a powerhouse three-and-a-half hour Spectacle last night. Even Fans who weren't lucky enough to get an Autograph, still were thrilled to see him up-close. The Singer is Hong Kong-bound and will be continuing his Tour this Spring in Shanghai and of course his native Hong Kong.

For a sample of Cheung's beautiful voice, he collaborated with our v. own K'naan on a new version of Wavin' Flag in Chinese together with Jane Zhang (seen on Oprah) for the FIFA World Cup.

Although I'm not quite sure what Elizabeth Taylor would think of it, Executive Producer Larry Thompson has confirmed via E! News that both Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox are among the Actresses in-talks to star as that Film Icon in an upcoming Lifetime TV Movie titled tentatively, Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story. The Film centers around the tumultuous relationship of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, as they met while filming Cleopatra and subsequently wound-up marrying and divorcing twice.

Slated to film this Spring in Canada, one can't help but wonder whether this Project will be reuniting Lohan with Toronto where she filmed two of her more popular titles, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Mean Girls. Will she be able to overcome her legal obstacles in-time to keep Fox away from the role?

It's always a pleasure to see the smiling face of our v. own Kevin Durand! The strapping Actor just arrived back in Toronto tonight from his current home in Los Angeles, although a quick perusal of his Résumé doesn't quite say what he's up to just yet.

One of busiest working Actors in Hollywood, Thunder Bay-born Durand filmed David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis here last Summer, before coming back in the Fall for both TIFF and the Canadian Premiere of Real Steel. And then shortly after that, Durand proceeded to work on Resident Evil: Retribution here. He's pretty much a Torontonian by default, yes?

Any The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Fans? Some of you might be excited to know that Ashley Banks (Tatyana Ali) herself will be in Toronto soon to film her latest project, Home Again. The Film is a Drama which centers around three individuals who are deported from U.S., Canada and England to a place neither are familiar with. Home Again, directed by Scarborough-born Sudz Sutherland, is set to film until March.

Furthermore, as previously announced, Jonathan Sobol's Book Heist Comedy The Black Marks starring Kurt Russell, Matt Dillon and Jay Baruchel, is set to being production in Hamilton, Ontario right away. Crossing fingers we see this one come our way in Toronto soon!

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards went down earlier this evening at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and there were few surprises to be found with Oscars Frontrunner The Artist winning Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical and its closest competitor The Descendants winning Best Motion Picture Drama.

The Artist also won for Best Original Motion Picture Score (Ludovic Bource) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy/Musical (Jean Dujardin), while The Descendants won Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama (George Clooney). Clooney upon accepting his award told fellow Nominee Michael Fassbender, "Thanks for taking over the frontal nudity clause" - referring to that one's daring performance in Shame. "If you want to go play Golf with your hands behind your back, go right ahead!".

Michelle Williams won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy/Musical for her outstanding portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn, while current Oscar favourite for Best Actress, the formidable Meryl Streep for The Iron Lady, won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama - her eighth Golden Globe. A humble Streep made note of some additional performances she felt were of note this year among her Peers, including Adepero Oduye's work in Pariah and Mia Wasikowska as Jane Eyre. "In any other year they would be awarded", she told the audience.

Modern Family won Best Television Comedy or Musical for a third consecutive year, while Showtime's Homeland won two awards for Best Television Drama and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Drama (Clare Danes).

Kate Winslet won her third Golden Globe for HBO's Mildred Pierce for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Mini-series/Movie, while Idris Elba won for Luther in the male counterpart of that category. Elba of course is currently filming Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim in Toronto.

Legends Martin Scorecese and Woody Allen also were honoured this evening; the former for Best Director with Hugo 3-D and the latter, Best Screenplay for Midnight in Paris. Morgan Freeman was presented the Cecil B. DeMille Award by Helen Mirren and Sidney Poitier.

Earlier in the evening Elton John was heard saying to the Camera before it was edited, "She hasn't got a f***ing chance of winning", on Madonna's likelihood of winning Best Original Song in a Motion Picture for Masterpiece from upcoming directorial debut, W.E. Madonna of course won in that category - her second Golden Globe - refuting back "Elton John is great and I'm sure he'll win something soon.". Ouch.

DANIEL RADCLIFFE ON "SNL"

In an exceptional Saturday Night Live tonight, Harry Potter himself Daniel Radcliffe performed hosting duties. Among his greatest moments were an appearance on the recurring Target-themed Sketch with Kristen Wiig which had him in a Mullet longing for her - his Co-worker - in a perfect American accent. He also did a hilarious Parody of the Musical Jersey Boys where a majority of the Songs sung were lesser versions of those by Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. The British Thespian brought out the laughs as indicted-but-not-guilty Casey Anthony's Yorkshire Terrier, going on about how treacherous it is to have her as his Owner. "Life is ruff", he claimed.

The brightest moment had Radcliffe once again in the role that made him famous, re-visiting Hogwarts with Jason Sudeikis as Draco Malfoy and Bill Hader as Severus Snape. At the end of it Radcliffe declared with confidence, "I've still got it!".

Up-and-coming Musical Guest Lana Del Rey performed her Tracks Video Games and my favourite Blue Jeans to warm reaction from the in-house Audience (although more mixed reviews on Twitter) crooning multiple throatier, melodic variations to her recorded renditions. Her Debut Disc Born to Die hits stores January 27, 2012 via Universal Music.

Although it might take a day to surface, visit Global Television's Website for Clips watchable in Canada.

It will be interesting to see the numbers from tonight's Broadcast as clearly fellow Muggles - and there are many - were watching. Within moments of Tweeting my love of Radcliffe's American accent, I saw hundreds of ReTweets. Amaze!

Less than two weeks till Radcliffe is in Toronto for the Canadian Premiere of The Woman in Black. I wonder which of my Readers will be winning Passes to the Affair! Hmm...

"CONTRABAND" DELIVERS THE GOODS AT THE TOP OF BOX OFFICE

No real surprise that Universal Pictures takes the top of the Box Office with their Action flick Contraband, starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale, with a total of $25 million from 2,863 theatres. Call it a comeback for Beckinsale who hasn't seen the top of the Box Office since 2006 with Adam Sandler Comedy, Click.

Landing in second is Disney's new and improved Beauty and the Beast 3-D, showing in 2,625 theatres with $18.5 million earned in its debut, just ahead of another Musical in Joyful Noise starring Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah with $12.3 million.

Still going strong in fourth is Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with $12.1 million from 3,346 theatres in its fifth week of release, edging-out last week's champion The Devil Inside in fifth spot with $7.5 million. Both are from Paramount Pictures.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo finally in its fourth week out recoups its $90 million budget with $7.3 million this weekend, good enough to place it in seventh.

The Iron Lady which is gaining most of its buzz on the strength of Meryl Streep's stunning performance as Margaret Thatcher, debuts in eighth with $5.3 million from only 802 theatres.

Two Animal-themed films, War Horse and We Bought a Zoo both round out the Top Ten in ninth and tenth spot with $5.6 and $5.5 million respectively.

GENE HACKMAN STRUCK BY PICK-UP TRUCK

Two-time Oscar Winner Gene Hackman was struck while cycling in Florida by a Pick-up Truck around 3:00 PM yesterday, thrown to the grassy shoulders of the road. Reportedly he was not wearing a helmet at the time. Hackman was airlifted to the hospital shortly after and fortunately, he escaped without serious injury. His Publicist reports that he is doing fine now after some routine checks. The 81-year-old Actor last was seen in 2004's Welcome to Mooseport.

MADONNA INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS WITH CYNTHNIA MCFADDEN

Madonna's Interview with ABC's Cynthia McFadden has surfaced in chunks and here she is presenting some highlights of it on Good Morning America earlier today. The Pop Icon talks about relationships, Lady Gaga, Cooking and her directorial debut W.E., among other pressing things.

On why she was so drawn to the story behind W.E., she reveals, "I wanted to know why King Edward gave up so much for her (Wallis Simpson) and what it must felt like to be loved so much.". She admits to having been in relationships where the other was willing to sacrifice a lot for her in the past but also says, "I miss that feeling like being part of a Family unit and not having to make all the decisions on my own.".

McFadden asks Madonna why it is that she prefers younger Men and she answers, "I didn't choose to write it on a piece of paper 'I'm now going to have a relationship with a younger Man'", before stating the importance of being with someone her Children can look up to.

Madonna claims never to have cooked a full meal on her own, saying "I don't think I've ever cooked a meal entirely by myself... My Daughter likes to cook, my Son likes to cook.". When questioned why this is the case by McFadden, she snaps back "Why do I have to do everything?".

Finally opening-up a bit more on the rumoured feud between herself and Lady Gaga, Madonna stated that the first time she heard Born this Way, her initial reaction was that "It feels reductive.". More will be revealed on tonight's airing of 20/20.

Now that's what I'm talking about! A four-year-old Gelding with perhaps the best name ever, Billybillwillywill, won first-time-out today at Gulfstream Park in Florida going wire-to-wire. His victory rewarded his supporters with $9.00 on a $2.00 bet. He might be a bit of a Late Bloomer as most Horses debut at two or three-years-old, but he came ready! Amaze.

"THE ARTIST" SWEEPS CRITICS' CHOICE AWARDS

The Critics have spoken, indeed! The Broadcast Film Critics Association held their 17th annual Critics' Choice Awards earlier this evening and if you weren't convinced of The Artist's Oscar chances, you'd better think again. The Film by Michel Hazanavicius was awarded Best Director, Best Costume Design, Best Score and also Best Picture.

The Ladies of The Help also were well-represented, winning Best Actress with Viola Davis, Best Supporting Actress with Octavia Spencer and also, the Award for Best Ensemble Cast.

George Clooney walk award with Best Actor for The Descendants, while Acting Legend Christopher Plummer won for his work as Best Supporting Actor in The Beginners. Note the irony in namesake: The Beginners... The Descendants... get it?

On the February Issue of Interview Magazine, Fassbender chats with his Friend Josh Brolin whom he met in Toronto back in 2008 at TIFF. Fassbender reveals to Brolin that after filming Prometheus in London earlier last year, he took a break, Motorcycling his way through Europe. He says, "I did 5,000 miles with my dad. We went through Holland, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Italy . . . and then I did Spain and France by myself. It was a trip—you would have loved it.". Both Brolin and Fassbender worked together on 2010's Jonah Hex.

Brolin also relays a message from his Wife Diane Lane to Fassbender on his work in Shame after the Couple saw it together at a 10:00 AM screening.

"THE IRON LADY" - MOVIE REVIEW

As is the case with My Week with Marilyn, those expecting a full-on Biopic about the rise and fall of a Heroine might be underwhelmed slightly by The Iron Lady. What Director Phyllida Lloyd gives us instead is a glimpse of the costs incurred by a nation and its Heroine Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep) - a battle-torn fighter with an all-consuming drive to be on-top and in-control. What we get here is a frail and senile Thatcher in her old age reflecting upon her storied rise to Power and more so, her undying love for Husband Denis (Jim Broadbent).

Much of The Iron Lady is told as an afterthought through flashbacks triggered by mementos found in Thatcher's home. Still strong-willed in the face of Dementia, she refuses to accept that she is going mad as Denis keeps resurfacing as a vision to her, forcing her to face the person she once was and the person she has become.

It should come as no surprise that Streep is astoundingly good as Thatcher and as commonly is the case, an Actress is required to go through a transformation in the span of a Film. In The Iron Lady however, we see Streep operating like a Formula 1 Champion, shifting through several gears. Played superbly by Alexandra Roach for the earlier part of Thatcher's life, we see Streep take Thatcher from being overly eager and shrill in Parliament to becoming a self-assured Prime Minister, unwavering in her unpopular decisions. She arguably is at her best while leading her nation through the Falklands War with resolute poise and authority. If this were not enough, Streep also handles Thatcher's decline with grace, mastering ever detail down to the blank ponderous gazes that grow increasingly long in her senility.

The Iron Lady might not be the Political Drama that some are hoping for, but regardless it has plenty of heart and more than ably makes us empathize with someone who long has been scrutinized publicly and labelled as heartless. It is impossible not to root for Thatcher as she is faced time and time again with impossible obstacles. That being said, the illusive third Oscar will soon be a reality for Streep. Alliance Films releases nationwide on January 13, 2012.

INTERVIEW: KATHLEEN ROBERTSON ON "NOT SINCE YOU" & "BOSS"

Easily one of Canada's most recognizable Actresses, Hamilton's own Kathleen Robertson just now might be hitting her best stride creatively. First getting her big break stateside on popular Young Adult fixture Beverly Hills, 90210 as Clare Arnold in 1994, Robertson returns home once again to promote her new Film Not Since You by Director Jeff Stephenson and also, recent Golden Globe-nominated series Boss, in which she stars alongside Kelsey Grammer. Robertson took a few moments out of her busy schedule to have an Edamame-fueled chat with Mr. Will-W.:Pop Maven after a flight from Los Angeles.

"I'm sorry to be annoying, but do you have any Tylenol?", she asks her Publicist before we get into the Interview. Quickly, I go and fetch her some from the Hotel Gift Shop hoping secretly that this isn't her way of bailing-out a la horrific Blind Date. "You saved me", she says as I present the tube of pills to her, witnessing her bravely solder-on with my line of questions. She elaborates, "My leg is all bruised and my neck is killing me".

Just last week, Robertson and her Husband Chris Cowles decided to to go on a bike ride with their three-year-old Son William, when a bee suddenly stings her lip, causing a nasty spill on her end. Not one to let some bruises get in her way of looking her best at this Sunday's Golden Globe Awards, she is determined to find that perfect dress which will function to stun on the Red Carpet and also mask evidence of her recent fall. This of course is Robertson's first time attending the prestigious Affair, after what can be considered a long road to success dating back to her first-ever Feature from 1985, Left Out, a National Film Board of Canada production which still is shown in schools. "I'm thinking dark green", she reveals for her choice of dress colour, complementing her new blonde locks.

Robertson made the shocking revelation that she needed additional time away from Acting after delivering her Son, William. "I gained 80 pounds. 80 pounds! A lot of that was just natural weight, but on-top of all that, I made the mistake of eating whatever I wanted. I was the Girl eating the pints of Häagen-Dazs and asking 'I just don't get why I'm gaining all this weight?!'", she laughs. "I will not be doing that again with my second Child". Needless to say, her combination of Breastfeeding, eating right and Yoga has gotten her back in fighting form.

Robertson is extremely proud of her work in Boss, a hotly-tipped new Political Drama Series set in Chicago. Despite having known little about Chicago, she committed herself fully to the role of Kittie O'Neill - the Assistant to Kelsey Grammer's Mayor Tom Kane - researching extensively for the part. "I met-up with Women who actually worked with former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley", she tells me. "It was really shocking - the stuff that I discovered and the things I learned. People are so on-the-table about it. The Politics are really corrupt and the stuff we deal with on Boss is nowhere even near that level.".

On Kelsey Grammer, who also just received a Golden Globe nomination for Boss, she has nothing but praise for her Co-star professing, "He is incredible. He's so amazing in this role.". Things of course aren't always strictly business on-set as Grammer also has a fun mode too, we learned. Many might not realize also that Oscar-nominated Director Gus Van Sant (Milk, Good Will Hunting) directed the Pilot for Boss. Commenting on his hands-on approach, Robertson says "It's very much his vision and he is in the Editing Room for every episode, including the Sound Design".

The stunning Actress also touches upon her new Indie Drama Not Since You in which she plays Amy, a Woman who never quite got closure from her Ex-Boyfriend Sam (Desmond Harrington) becoming estranged from her after he had ventured off on a trip. Now married, she reunites with her tight-knit circle of friends some years later and we see the toll that 9/11 has taken on each of them emotionally. As she is reunited with Sam, she begins to question her own devotions to loving Husband Ryan (Christian Kane).

Robertson recalls being approached by Stephenson for the role of Amy admitting, "I was surprised as I don't normally get offered 'The Girl'. I tend to play roles that are a little more complex and dark. It was fun to tackle a simple, true, pure character with absolute struggles". Fortunately, she never had to face the tough dilemma of a Love Triangle in her own life, stating "It's weird. I'm friends with some of my Exes and so is my Husband actually... I've never really dated and always have been in long-term relationships, so I never really had that person who suddenly came back in my life".

As for the question many Readers were curious about to whether or not Robertson still keeps in-touch with her former Beverly Hills, 90210 Castmates, she answers "I don't. I e-mail and text Tori (Spelling) a bit but but she's got her Kids and I have a Kid. We've all moved our separate ways.".

I was surprised to learn that Robertson is developing her craft as a Writer, having sold her first Script recently and shooting her first co-written Feature Gravity's Pull last Summer in Cuba. Kris Holden-Reid, Don McKellar and Lauren Lee Smith also star, alongside the multi-faceted Robertson.

Not Since You will be in limited release January 20, 2012 at Carlton Cinema in Toronto via Vagrant Films and Alliance Films, while Boss premieres on Super Channel in April.

KATY PERRY IS THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE!

Although Katy Perry swept the People's Choice Awards this year, unfortunately she was absent from all the fun tonight due much in part to the recent circumstances surrounding her Marriage to Russell Brand. Perry won five Awards tonight including Favourite Female Artist, Favourite Song of the Year (E.T.), Favourite Music Video (Last Friday Night), Favourite Tour Headliner and Favourite TV Guest Star (How I Met Your Mother).

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 finished a close second, garnering four Awards also including: Favourite Movie, Favourite Ensemble Cast, Favourite Book and Favourite Action Movie.

Emma Stone and Johnny Depp also each picked-up two awards each and perhaps a bit surprising was CBS' 2 Broke Girls winning Favourite New TV Comedy, beating out Whitney, Up All Night, Surburgatory, New Girl and more! Way to go, Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings!

BRIEF HIATUS

Dear Mavenati,

Just a quick note that I won't be v. active here the next few days. I've just been cast in a Production filming here in the City and I expect the days to be long. I cannot name which Production, nor can I post details on it, but some time later on I can recap my experience being on the other side of the Screen. I will be on my best behaviour and putting my Camera and Blackberry away. Can't wait.

MAX MARTINI SPOTTED IN TORONTO

The Celebrities were out in full force today in Yorkville and after looking for some Marshmallows at Pusateri's, I bumped into Max Martini picking-up a little Dinner along with his Pacific Rim Co-star Robert Kazinsky. The two apparently both flew in from Los Angeles after celebrating the New Year there, to return back to work here on the big-budget Guillermo del Toro Robot-Action Film. Just earlier today I also ran into another of his Co-stars, Burn Gorman.

Although in a rush to enjoy to enjoy his Dinner, Martini was amazing to stop and pose for a quick Snap! Many of you might remember Martini from his work in five-time Academy Award-winning Saving Private Ryan, alongside Tom Hanks and Matt Damon. More recently he seems to be popping-up on every hotly-buzzed TV Series including Revenge, Hawaii Five-O, 24, Flashpoint, Castle and so many more!

Pacific Rim continues to film in Toronto and is scheduled to wrap in April.

MADONNA'S ABC INTERVIEW PREVIEW

Whomever edited this Preview for Cynthia McFadden's upcoming Interview with Madonna did a brilliant job. McFadden goes for the jugular asking the Queen of Pop, "What do you think of Lady Gaga?". After a dramatic pause, we hear Madonna reply "Look it up.".

I'm actually more excited to see what Madonna's Home looks like inside (where a majority of the Interview was filmed) and look forward to seeing more upcoming Interviews as she kicks into high-gear for her directorial debut, W.E. and that new Album! First Single Gimme all Your Luvin featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. impacts Radio on February 7, 2012.

Bits of the McFadden Interview are being interspersed between ABC's Good Morning America, 20/20 and Nightline from Thursday, January 12 through Friday, January 13, 2012. Check your local listings for times.
